Showbiz Scandal: The Official Announcement of My Ex and Myself-Chapter 112: Can We Kiss?
"Has that Zuoshan Diao become your dorm’s mascot?"
Wei Yaoyao laughed, "Sometimes it even sings for us, Xie Qingci especially likes it."
Yu Xia found it amusing in her heart and guided the conversation towards the often invisible Ning Yunchao.
"Are the guitar and keyboard yours?"
Ning Yunchao nodded, "There’s another guitar that belongs to Wei Yaoyao."
Shu Ran joined in, "So Xie Qingci didn’t bring any instruments?"
Xie Qingci finally had something to say, "I rarely played instruments in the past, not proficient, so I didn’t bring any."
"Nonsense, you’re great at playing guitar," Wei Yaoyao laughed and patted his shoulder, "Don’t underestimate yourself. But indeed, when he came, he only brought a suitcase, like he was on vacation."
The latter part was directed at Shu Ran and the others.
Xie Qingci chuckled, "I thought I’d get eliminated in one round, considering I didn’t even have a company back then."
Shu Ran: "With a face like yours, there’s no way you’d be out in one round, you’d at least make it through two. Why did you even come if you thought you’d be out so soon?"
Xie Qingci paused.
"Because, after thinking it over, I decided to give it a try. Can’t just give up without trying."
It was a normal sentence, but for those who were perceptive, it was unclear if he was talking about the audition or something else.
Yu Xia ignored his intense gaze and didn’t speak. Only when he lowered his eyes did she lightly say, "It’s true, you always have to give it a shot."
Xie Qingci’s fingers curled slightly.
After a simple tour of the dorm area, there was some down time. Yu Kuang and Shu Ran didn’t mention plans to eat together and went their separate ways. Yu Xia happily enjoyed her meal and nap in the nanny van.
Mei kept track of the time and planned to wake her up half an hour early, but to her surprise, Yu Xia said she couldn’t sleep an hour early and wanted to go for a stroll.
There wasn’t much to see around the base. Yu Xia knew her goal clearly and wandered towards a little corner she almost got caught by Shu Ran before.
When she arrived, it was unclear how long Xie Qingci had been there. He sat on the ground, head lowered, with slightly longer bangs covering his eyes and eyebrows.
He still wore the dark blue uniform pants, with just a white t-shirt on after removing his jacket, looking every bit the campus heartthrob.
As soon as Yu Xia walked in, he raised his head suddenly and stared straight at her. When he confirmed it was really her, he seemed to want to stand but stayed put, following her movements closely with his eyes.
"Sister," he called softly.
She didn’t respond, folding her arms and looking at him as he gazed up.
Watching him struggle to find the right words, watching him want to stand but not daring to without a signal, watching his restrained longing.
Once she’d seen enough, she slightly raised her chin and said, "Get up."
Xie Qingci immediately stood up, stumbling slightly before tumbling forward into Yu Xia.
He naturally reached out and hugged her, his chin grazing past her ear.
"Sorry, I got up too quickly, a little low on blood sugar."
Yu Xia raised a finger and poked his chest, pushing him away.
"Don’t use that excuse. How could low blood sugar last this long? Let go."
The force of her poke on his chest was not heavy at all. Xie Qingci smiled out of her sight, relieved.
He was used to taking advantage bit by bit. Noticing she wasn’t as angry, not only did he not let go, but he hugged tighter, resting his head on her shoulder, speaking leisurely close to her ear.
"Sister, my legs are numb, I don’t want to let go. If you don’t like it, you can hit me to vent."
His every breath was hitting her ear, making Yu Xia’s ear heat up as she turned her head aside.
"What’s the use of hitting you?"
"You can try it." He took her hand and pressed it onto the side of his face.
Yu Xia looked into his eyes without speaking, and he didn’t avert his gaze either, slightly turning his head to kiss her wrist.
"Can I kiss you?" he asked softly.
Yu Xia didn’t refuse, standing still, she curled her finger, then pointed to her own lip corner.
Xie Qingci quickly understood her gesture, leaning down to kiss her, freeing a hand to clasp the back of her neck, ensuring she tilted her head slightly for cooperation; otherwise, bending over to kiss for too long would be tiring.
He kissed with such depth, moving fervently as if wanting to swallow her whole.
While Yu Xia was distracted, she summarized – he was indeed smart, always testing the limits within her tolerance.
Playing the obedient one to ask for a kiss, but once granted, reverting to the wolf, kissing until you’d want to refuse the next time.
Whether to scold or not, the decision she made herself felt unsatisfactory either way.
Yu Xia could only hear her heartbeat quickening as she lightly tapped his shoulder to make him stop.
But he ignored her, pretending not to notice.
Yu Xia pushed him away firmly this time.
Xie Qingci staggered back two steps, gasping as he looked at her, fingers slowly wiping at the corner of his mouth to remove suspicious traces.
Then he approached again, cornering her, and kissed her hand gently twice.
This time it was tender, planting soft, cautious kisses on her lips.
"If you’re mad, scold me, hit me if you must, but don’t ignore me. I really lost sleep last night, Sister."
He spoke in a hushed voice, as if feeling wronged.
"You look at everyone else, just not me, or pretend you don’t know me when you see me. It feels terrible."
"Where does it feel terrible?" Yu Xia asked gently, though her palm smacked his face - not hard, more like a caress, but still enough to turn his face, "Here?"
Before he could respond, she slapped his chest with her palm, nails grazing over a spot, Xie Qingci letting out a dull moan.
Again, she softly asked, "Or here?"
Xie Qingci’s eyes flared, drawing closer with a tremor, "It hurts all over, but the heart hurts the most."
Yu Xia withdrew her hand, her tone immediately turning cold.
"Endure it."
Xie Qingci pulled her hand back to his face, still speaking, "I deserve to endure it, but can you forgive me? I really know I was wrong."
As he spoke, he moved closer until his lips brushed her earlobe, his bangs tickling her cheek.
"What does he even matter, if you want a backup, it can only be me."
Despite the certainty in his words, his heart felt hollow and bitter.
His aim had always been to reconcile, but with his career in the way and now this happening, bringing it up now would only earn a harsh "dream on" from her.
She has always been a heartless person.
Yu Xia didn’t know what he conjured about her in his mind, she just silently listened to him babble on. Only when he fell silent, nestled against her neck, did she speak.
"You know you were wrong?"
Xie Qingci, buried against her, speaking muffledly, "I know I was wrong."
"Hmm," she lifted her hand to touch his Adam’s apple, like caressing a fine jade, then in a straightforward manner coaxed, "Then let me explain why he was mistreated."
