Shocked! The Young Master's Petite Darling Is a Master of Mysteries-Chapter 185: Incomprehensible
"Let’s go check out Aunt Ding’s shop!" Lu Zechuan said, grabbing Xia Mian’s hand as he turned and left the greenhouse.
Ding Lan ran a custom tailoring shop, which also served as a flower shop, and Ding Lan was usually there.
When Lu Zechuan and Xia Mian arrived at Ding Lan’s shop, it was still open. Warm lights illuminated the entire shop, making it feel even more mysterious.
Lu Zechuan pushed open the shop door, striding in with long legs, and slowly walked inside.
Upon hearing the door chime, there was a slight noise from behind the flower rack.
Following the sound, Lu Zechuan saw Ding Lan, dressed in a plain robe.
Even though it was winter, Ding Lan still wore a qipao, her posture graceful, like a blooming lily.
"Ah Chuan, what brings you here?" Ding Lan held a watering can, smiling with poise.
"Aunt Ding, did you go to the Song Family just now?" Lu Zechuan fixed his eyes on Ding Lan, asking directly.
Ding Lan paused for a moment, "I’ve been in the shop all along. Why do you ask?"
There was no hint of deception on Ding Lan’s face, making Lu Zechuan squint slightly. "Aunt Ding, I’ll ask you seriously once more. Did you really not go to the Song Family?"
Lu Zechuan held some respect for Ding Lan. The twisted shapes of flowers in the greenhouse were thanks to her. But now, Ding Lan flatly denying her trip to the Song Family put Lu Zechuan in a predicament.
"Ah Chuan, why would I go to the Song Family?" Ding Lan glanced at him suspiciously. "Did something happen? Tell Aunt Ding about it and see if I can help you out?"
"My mom is missing." Xia Mian abruptly spoke, her gaze coldly landing on Ding Lan. "According to my sources, you took her away."
Upon hearing Xia Mian’s words, Ding Lan’s expression darkened instantly, "What do you mean by that? I don’t even know your mom. Why would I take her away?"
Ding Lan’s anger didn’t seem fake, but Xia Mian simply curved her lips mildly, "Aunt Ding, I asked you before if you have a twin sister, and you said no."
"Since you don’t, then who else could it be if not you, who appeared in our house?" Xia Mian’s eyes slightly shifted, scrutinizing Ding Lan with her gaze.
"Miss Xia, considering you and Ah Chuan are engaged, I’ll let this go. But don’t confuse things and make trouble!" Ding Lan said with a frosty face.
"Aunt Ding, my mom is missing, and I’m in no mood right now. I hope you won’t waste my time anymore." Xia Mian’s eyes narrowed tightly, with a dangerous gleam.
Although Ding Lan had some connections with Lu Zechuan, if she had indeed harmed Song Juan, Xia Mian wouldn’t hesitate to act against her!
Ding Lan’s expression turned a bit grim, her gaze shifting to Lu Zechuan.
She saw Lu Zechuan looking at her with a deep gaze, "Aunt Ding, I hope you can tell the truth."
"You don’t believe me?" Ding Lan was filled with disbelief. "I watched you grow up, showering you with affection, yet you trust her over me?"
Lu Zechuan smiled slightly, "Aunt Ding, you’ve said before, my abilities have awakened. I trust what I hear and see myself."
Ding Lan was momentarily taken aback, "What did you hear? What did you see?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Lu Zechuan slowly replied, "I heard the flowers in the greenhouse saying that a woman took Xia Mian’s mother away. I saw those flowers twisted into your likeness."
Ding Lan’s face flashed with astonishment, her eyes turning from initial shock to disbelief, and finally to a hint of delight, "Is it true, what you said?"
Lu Zechuan squinted at her, "I have no reason to deceive you. Aunt Ding, Mianmian’s mother is missing, and she’s very anxious. I hope you can be honest with me."
Ding Lan’s face briefly showed a smile, but she seemed to think it inappropriate and suppressed it, explaining, "Ah Chuan, I really don’t have a twin sister because on the day I was born, my only twin sister was killed."
At this point, Ding Lan paused for a moment, "But now, you’re telling me you’ve seen someone who looks exactly like me. I think, maybe, my twin sister is still alive."
Xia Mian slightly narrowed her eyes, her gaze fixed intently on Ding Lan.
Whether Ding Lan’s words were true or false, she couldn’t verify. But since the clues pointed to Ding Lan, Xia Mian couldn’t easily provoke her.
"I can help you." Ding Lan took a deep breath, "There is a bloodline sensing ability between twin sisters in the Wood Clan, though I’ve never used it, thinking my twin was dead."
Now, to verify if the person was indeed her supposedly deceased twin sister, she decided to give it a try.
"Then we’ll trouble Aunt Ding." Lu Zechuan offered Ding Lan a slight smile, polite yet distant.
Ding Lan smiled gently, "No need to be so formal with me."
Ding Lan smiled warmly, but when her gaze turned to Xia Mian, there was a trace of displeasure.
Before things were clear, Xia Mian’s attitude toward her was far from friendly.
If not for the difference between the Wood Clan now and then, she would definitely not agree to Lu Zechuan getting engaged to Xia Mian!
Retracting her gaze, Ding Lan took a light breath, her fingers gently touching a thorn of a rose, and a bead of fresh blood instantly sprang from her fingertip.
That blood bead was crystal clear, exuding a faint fragrance under the dim light.
A thin line of blood floated from the bead, drifting through the doorway, heading into the distance.
"Follow me!" Ding Lan said, following the bloodline out the door.
The bloodline drifted vaguely, swirling through the night alleys of Beijing.
Xia Mian and Lu Zechuan followed Ding Lan out, tracing the bloodline as they went.
The red bloodline floated intermittently, shifting unpredictably, constantly changing directions.
Xia Mian and Lu Zechuan also kept changing positions as they followed Ding Lan.
Finally, after walking for most of the night, Ding Lan stopped in front of a deserted, unfinished building on the outskirts of Beijing.
"The bloodline disappeared here." Ding Lan squinted her eyes, a trace of doubt in them.
The unfinished building seemed to have been abandoned for years, covered in dust and cobwebs.
"Let’s go up and take a look." Xia Mian whispered, stepping into the eerily vacant building.
The building had no doors or windows installed, with drafts blowing in from all sides, making it particularly chilly.
The wind whistled through various holes, creating a wailing sound like ghosts crying in the night.
However, Lu Zechuan and the others were long accustomed to bizarre scenarios, untroubled by such minor occurrences.
Ding Lan ascended the stairs of the unfinished building step by step, her eyes sweeping through each obstacle, trying to find a glimpse of her twin sister.
Xia Mian scanned every inch of the unfinished building, hoping to catch sight of Song Juan.
