Nikolai might be the newest member of Cayenne's security group, but among the people that Stefan hired, it was obvious that he was the strongest. Second to him was Rey.

The night was dark as he was stealthily moving through the thick foliage, yet darkness could only envelop him, not hinder his movements. The faint sound of rustling leaves brushing his black shirt and the echoing call of crickets were louder than his footsteps.

He was light and quick.

A few hours ago, Rey volunteered to come with him, but Nikolai refused stubbornly. He knew what was coming to him, and he couldn't risk losing the man that could protect the Dumrique family once he was gone.

Aside from that, he got the couple's agreement to never interfere in his way and to never ask anything about him.

There's no stopping now.

The abandoned mall wasn't really that big when you look at it from the outside. By Nikolai's estimation, there could only be four or at most, 5 floors inside. Yet the surrounding area was spacious.

He was unfamiliar of the building, but Nikolai knew that there was once a lovely park there. He once brought his grandchild here and they had so much fun all those years. He never thought that it would be replaced by this mall which got abandoned as well.

"People really likes to waste their money," Nikolai murmured as he made his way to the entrance of the mall.

The main entrance once had a revolving glass door, but now it's no longer functional and the glasses were broken a long time ago.

Slowly, he moved with caution with his gun in position to fire anytime. His finger was ready to pull the trigger as he walk down to the lower ground floor.

He could hear people talking in a distance - their mocking laughter echoed in the silent mall.

"Oh, c'mon, why are you acting like a sissy?!" Yelled a man followed by a resounding slap.

Nikolai's scalp tingled in hatred. He could only hear a whimpering sound from the other party and he wasn't sure if it was Luiz or another person that got abducted. But if it's Luiz, Nikolai knew that he wouldn't forgive the person that touched him.

He had studied Cayenne's family structure and knew that Luiz, being the youngest, was loved by all. He wasn't spoiled and worked very hard to get to where he was. He never asked for anything outrageous. He never use his brother-in-law's power to demean other people. He was the brightest star in the family. He cheers up people with his mere presence. He treats everyone equally.

And just thinking him getting hurt brings a bloody taste in Nikolai's mouth.

Literally! He didn't notice that he was biting his lips very hard in anger that blood came out.

***

Three hours ago, Luiz was formulating his escape plan while pretending to be unconscious. His abductor was confidently stupid that he never checked him which allowed him to think things carefully.

Based from the last time that he was able to sneak a peek of his surrounding, he was sure that it has been two days since he got kidnapped.

Aside from hunger, he was also very thirsty. His lips were pale and chapped from the lack of food and water.

Crash!

"Who are - "

Bang!

Luiz was dumbfounded. Things hadn't registered in his brain yet when the cold nuzzle of an unknown model of a gun was pressed on his temple.

"Even if we didn't kill him, this boy would've done it later," said another person as he yanked the blindfold that covers Luiz's face. "Wew!"

"Jackpot!"

Another person whistled when he saw the face of the young man in front of them.

Someone also snatched the sharp glass that Luiz was holding behind him.

"This ain't gon' kill 'em", said the person who took the sharp glass from Luiz and threw the small weapon away. He didn't have the slightest bit of sympathy when he cut Luiz's hand from forcefully taking the glass away.

Luiz looked at the corpse that laid on his own blood not far from him. Then he slowly raised his head and looked at the people surrounding him.

"Yo! The kid is turnin' idiot!"

Everyone laughed at this comment including the man who pointed his gun on Luiz. His body was shaking so hard from laughing, as if it was the biggest joke he's ever heard.

Everytime he laugh, his gun would shake and Luiz could see the man's finger on the trigger.

He was already pale to begin with, but with the gun pointing at him, he turned white like a sheet of paper.

In the corner of his eyes, he saw a burly man with a long, hideous scar across his face. He had a cigarette held between his teeth as he sat on the tattered couch and picked a stack of paper.

"Hmm, this guy is Luiz Ardolf. Model. Brother of Cayenne Dumrique, the wife of Stefan Dumrique," he mumbled and puffed a smoke.

"For real?!"

"What a coincidence?!"

Echoed the two people with spiky hair and with big dangling earrings.

"Who would've thought that returning to our base would give us this surprising gift?" Scar-face retorted.

Luiz didn't make a sound. He could tell that they were different kind of criminal from his abductor. These new people who came in weren't stupid.

"You know Joaquin?" Scar-face asked which caught Luiz off-guard, and before he could process his thoughts, the spiky-haired guy punched him on the face.

His lower lip was cut and blood trailed down his chin.

"Answer the boss, boy!"

"I...I don't know anyone named Joaquin," Luiz answered in fear. Earlier, these people were talking about his sister and Stefan, as if they owed these people some money, but now they were asking him about Joaquin. He couldn't understand the trail of their thoughts.

"If you don't know Joaquin, maybe you know Dr. Eliezer Rivera."

Luiz neither confirmed or denied it. It was clear now that he was caught in two different warfare.

Unknown people versus Cayenne and Stefan.

Unknown people versus Dr. Eliezer Rivera.

He was just a bait!
