"Impossible. My daughter will never marry into the Shelby Family," Brenda retorted furiously, her stance firm.
Before, having her daughter marry into the Hawthorne Family was to ensure she would not be outshone by Raina, to become the most esteemed woman in Southgate. But after tonightโs events, the Hawthorne Family was her daughterโs only way out.

Brendaโs lips curled into a sneer: "Gideon North, have you forgotten how that woman died? Would you like to guess how, if Raina knew the truth, she, as the Young Madam of the Hawthorne Family, would deal with you, the person who caused her biological motherโs death?"
Gideonโs face instantly darkened: "Shut up! If you dare let slip even a word about this, donโt blame me for disregarding our years of marriage!"
Brenda chuckled coldly, "Do you think that by not revealing it, this matter can be completely hidden? Gideon North, there are no everlasting secrets in this world. Have you thought about what she might do to you then?"
"She wouldnโt dare! I am her biological father. If she dares to oppose me, it would be unfilial!" Gideon spoke with bravado, but his heart was full of fear.
Brenda noticed the change in Gideonโs expression and continued, "Claire is different. She is our biological daughter, raised by our side.
