Shattering Humanity-Chapter 81: Tristan’s Treasures

Within Mount Morta’s Military District, Tristan is slightly in front of his fiancee, Stephanie. His IceEye in 2nd stage, with a lime green aura.

They are walking the concrete walkway along the edge of the building’s lawn to the General’s Building. His much shorter girlfriend is almost jogging to keep up with his fast pace.

Tristan is looking at the photo from the aerial shot he took and is watching as the herd of Giant Icemen rampage and obliterate the now nonexistent Son Goku City as if it was a video.

Stephanie: "So this is where the General and classified government info is kept. I’ve only been to the Medical District in this Mountain. Hey, Tritty, remember? When I cut myself bad making food and we had to rush there, Tritty?"

Tristan wasn’t listening to her, his eye goes back to the base-kit and doesn’t acknowledge her question.

Tristan: "Cap doesn’t need to know about this. He already has too much on his plate as the ’Face of Humanity’s Final Flame’." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎

They take a 90° turn and continue up the walkway to the General’s Office. Stephanie tears up thinking about her Mentor.

Stephanie: "As soon as we landed, he nodded at you, dismissed Bethany and me for the rest of the day, and left. He’s taken an oath of silence but his silence on the way back emanated his sadness. I feel horrible. Just imagine, if our homes and all the special places in our memories in Roronora City were gone and destroyed. It’s truly sad."

Tristan: "That’s why I didn’t use my ability to find out what happened until we landed. It felt disrespectful. Now, I don’t think I have it in me to tell him a swarm of more than 50 giant aliens intentionally destroyed the city he called home but I’m not going to blame my friends Katsu and Shelly either.General Nephilim specifically chose our Squad for that excursion because of my eye ability, only I needed to report back to him but I appreciate you coming along, Babe."

Tristan stops for a moment, making Steph pause as well and he kisses her.

Stephanie(blushing): "Of c- course Hun."

Tristan looks at the building they’re in front of, thinking, then up at the fake sun lighting the district.

Tristan: "If General Gray hadn’t retired, I could’ve gone to him for advice but since it’s actual military information and he’s not involved anymore, it’s classified information."

Stephanie looks at the building too.Steph: "I hope he’s okay. I haven’t seen Uncle Donovan in a while. I miss him."

Tristan: "His eye ability was niche and a strategic one like mine. It can’t be used in any way as an offensive one but he made it work. The few times that I did talk to him during his tenure, he always led me in the right direction. It’s because of him I realized you are my purpose and most valuable treasure.He told me ’Every human gets a certain feeling when they look at one of their Three Treasures in life, that are the one piece to making life complete’ but I only have you and my camera that my grandmother gave me. What is my third treasure? Will I ever find it?"

Stephanie rubs up next to him and and closes her eyes and smiles.

Stephanie: "W-Well I do want to be a M- Mommy someday."

Tristan blushes and kisses her forehead.

Tristan disengages with his girlfriend, looking her in the eyes.

Tristan: "I excelled in the Academy to get within the Top 5 for both academic and sparring in our class, all for us. I’m sorry I couldn’t get a Beast title like those psychos who over-obsess or are delinquents. But if anything threatens OUR happiness, I will become more than just a beast."

tephanie nods with a soft "hm".

Tristan begins walking again, slow enough for the girl to keep up and he pulls open the door for her. He is met by Silpheed with their 75% covered face and the two, exchange a handshake.

Stephanie slightly bows and Silpheed returns a bow back. Silpheed leads Tristan and Steph to Nephilim’s Office. The escort knocks and opens the door, allowing the guests in first.

Tristan: "Thanks."

Steph: "Thank you."

Silph: "Ore- wo- guum."

There is nobody else in the office and Tristan looks around confused. Silpheed closes the door, turns around and stands silently at the door. A flushing noise is heard from behind a door in the opposite corner of the office. Nephilim walks out and is looking at his hands as he’s wiping them dry.

Nephilim: "Wow Silph was right, a bidet does feel cleaner than using toilet paper to just smear-."

He stops his sentence just in time before finishing the sentence in front of his visitors.

Nephilim: "Oh, you guys are back already."

After informing the General about the fate of Son Goku City and what Tristan saw in the photo with his ability, he grabs his General coat and puts it on with a sigh.

Nephilim: "Today’s been a long ass day, and it still isn’t over."He starts walking towards Silpheed and the door.

Nephilim: "While you guys were gone, someone decided to pull a little prank and set off two SunSwords "Easy Way Out" self destructs in a public shuttle heading from Nona to Decima."

Stephanie puts her hands over her mouth and tears immediately stream from her eyes.

Tristan: "What!?"

Even Silpheed standing in front of the door the general approaches, their single eye shows some type of surprised expression.

Nephilim: "Yeaaa, I’m not going to make any assumptions and say it’s one from Daisuki’s gang, but I’m heading to the Information building next door real quick to see who’s responsible. Tristan, I want to talk to you for a minute, you can come along, sweetheart, you’re military."

Tristan and Stephanie follow him out the door and Silpheed closes the door.

Nephilim: "Whenever that button on a set of those swords is pressed, it’ll have a red X on the person who signed out the sword. I need to check that and then head to the Sisters and their ignorant asses."

He opens the door and holds it open for the two students.

Tristan: "Thank you, General."

Stephanie: "Thank you, Sir!"

Finally Silpheed exits and bows towards the General.

Silpheed: "Fan- ouu, Neff-a-um zr."

They exit the General building and begin heading to the Information building next door.

Nephilim: "So how is Briggs? That city was his home. It’s unfortunate how things turned out. I needed your incredible eye ability to get evidence on Daisuki’s whereabouts, which was rumored to be in the city your Mentor was from and not only did the city in question get demolished, the first act of terrorism, happened within the Sister Mountains."

Tristan: "I can’t stress enough, Nephilim sir, it wasn’t Katsu and Shelly, it was the Icemen that did that to Sun Goku City."

Nephilim: "What if that left eye he’s gained can control Icemen and he lost control? These are the things you need to atleast acknowledge."

Tristan: "I still can’t fully believe my friends are actually terrorists or traitors."

Nephilim stops and turns towards Tristan and his girlfriend.

Nephilim: "Tristan, you are incredibly smart and incredibly skilled, so you should know, it’s never to late for someone to change for the worst. Those of us always looking to get better, for something or someone other than just ’ourselves’, know when someone is on the ’positive or negative’ projection."

There’s a female scream heard from inside the Information building and Nephilim turns around quickly, with a look of concern.

Nephilim: "Persephone..."

They all run the last ten yards to the entrance and Nephilim gets there first.

Nephilim: "You two stay out here, Silph come with me."

He tilts his head towards the door and enters but as soon as he enters, he can hear a familiar gross voice and a woman sobbng.

Decima: "Scream again bitch and I’ll blow your fuckin brains out now instead of as I finish, ohhh yea you’re scared now, I can tell."

Nephilim blacks out from pure rage.
