Chapter 343: Chapter 356: Jue Has Been Found

Su Xingyu was both angry and anxious. This child was usually pretty obedient, so why was he so stubborn at such a crucial moment?

The Jue he mentioned wasn’t anyone else; it was the child they planned to swap his heart with! What if they found that child and came back for his heart again?

Just then, they heard Lu Shifeng’s voice coming from deep within the specimen room: "Jue? Jue! Come over here, to Daddy."

The last few words were gentle, clearly coaxing a child.

Jue... really found?!

Su Xingyu was startled, looking incredulously at the Han in her arms. She thought he was running around aimlessly, but he actually knew where Jue was?

She couldn’t help but ask the child, "How did you know?"

Han just shook his head, casting a fearful glance at the rows of formaldehyde glass jars in the specimen room. After hesitating for a moment as if making a decision, he took off running toward the direction of Lu Shifeng’s voice.

"Han!" Su Xingyu, fearing for the child’s safety, quickly followed him.

Passing through jar after jar of formaldehyde, Su Xingyu followed Han through twisting turns, deep into the specimen room.

The fluorescent light was broken, flickering, and the eerie white light dimmed, casting a ghostly glow over a pile of haphazardly placed corpse specimens, like a scene from a horror movie.

Lu Shifeng was half-squatting, half-kneeling beside one of the piles of specimens. A corpse missing half an eyeball was pressed tightly against him through a layer of transparent glass. Yet, he seemed unaware, his high-end tailored suit covered in dust, unafraid of dirt or darkness, staying there with his hand extended into the depths of the piles of debris: "Jue, come out, be good."

But there was no response from the depths of the piles of debris.

Jue... really in there?

Looking at the scene before her, Su Xingyu couldn’t help but doubt. Would a normal child, when faced with relatives, not immediately run out crying in terror upon being in such a terrifying specimen room? Even if too scared to run out, wouldn’t they at least make a sound! But this specimen room was too quiet; other than Lu Shifeng, there was no sound of another person speaking.

Could he have been enchanted by something?

In such a bizarre place, Su Xingyu couldn’t help but let her mind wander, feeling a shiver run down her spine.

She watched Han run up to Lu Shifeng and tug on the man’s sleeve.

Lu Shifeng turned his head and saw him, his tightly furrowed brows relaxing a bit: "Han? Thank you for bringing me to Jue, stand back, be careful not to fall in."

These debris were heavy human specimens, impossible for an adult to move. Lu Shifeng didn’t know if the child was stuck inside or refused to come out; from his perspective, he only saw the tiny figure of Jue with his head down.

He stood up and ordered the two bodyguards who had followed in: "You two, move the specimen."

Just as the bodyguards were about to respond and move forward, they saw Han, taking advantage of his standing up to issue orders, crouching into his previous position.

"Jue... wuwu Jue...!" Han crouched at the small entrance of the debris pile, crying, looking like he wanted to crawl inside but didn’t dare.

The debris pile was too quiet, not at all like there was a child hiding in it. Su Xingyu was terrified, afraid that Han might also be enchanted by something, quickly stepping forward to try to pull the child away.

"Wuwuwu Jue...! I’m not leaving! I want Jue...!" Han, usually so obedient, refused to leave the entrance of the debris pile, crying loudly as if Su Xingyu’s attempt to pull him away had agitated him. He instead used all his might to try and crawl into the debris pile.

How could Su Xingyu let him crawl in?

"Help me out!" In her panic, she called out, not caring about anything else. A three-year-old boy’s strength was considerable, and in his struggle, she, a frail woman, couldn’t hold him.

Hearing this, Ouyang Yi rushed forward to help her pull Han away, but Lu Shifeng, who was closer, pushed Ouyang Yi aside, helping her drag Han back.

"W... wah!" Han cried loudly.

"Ah...! Ahhhhh—!" Suddenly, from the depths of the debris pile, came a child’s scream.

Su Xingyu was startled, and in a moment of distraction, saw a small, dusty gray figure burst out from the pile of corpse specimens, grabbing Han and desperately pulling him in the opposite direction from them.

"Ahhhh—! Ah—!" The child yelled shrilly as he pulled.

Hearing this cry, Su Xingyu’s heart inexplicably ached as if pierced by something, and it hurt. She didn’t know what was happening to her, and in her moment of distraction, she felt the weight on her hands lighten. Despite the small, skinny child’s appearance, he and Han together managed to break free from the grasp of two adults, falling to the floor, hugging each other.

"Jue!" Lu Shifeng dashed forward, trying to catch the child that had just dashed out.

Jue was covered in dirt, one shoe missing, lips purple, in a disheveled state, yet did not even glance at his biological father. He only clung tightly to Han’s plump, short arm, holding on so tightly it left a bruise.

Su Xingyu’s heart ached, and she reached for the child. "Han! Jue, let go, you’re hurting him!"

But Jue didn’t listen, and somehow the skinny child had the strength to drag Han back into the terrifying pile of corpse specimens.

Su Xingyu’s heart leaped to her throat; the two kids were moving too fast. If they really crawled back into the debris pile, who knew when they could be rescued!

But it was too late for her to catch the two children.

At the crucial moment, Lu Shifeng planted a foot at the entrance of the debris pile.

Jue couldn’t stop in time and crashed into it, letting out another sharp scream.

When he screamed, Han cried with him, their voices forming a cacophony that was enough to drive anyone mad.

"Han..." Su Xingyu reached out for Han, but Jue held on to him so tightly that he wouldn’t let go, attempting to bite her as she approached.

Luckily, Su Xingyu was quick to withdraw her hand, avoiding being bitten. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

Jue’s skinny little body clung to Han like an octopus, Jue’s nails breaking the skin on Han’s plump, white arm, drawing blood.

"Wuwuwu..." Han cried again but showed no signs of struggling.

Su Xingyu was desperate enough to cry herself, "Han, break free from him! He’ll hurt you!"

No matter what, Han’s overfed little body shouldn’t lose to that skinny child.

But Han just refused to struggle, instead reaching out with his other hand to hug Jue, smearing snot and tears all over Jue.
