SEX WITH MY BEST FRIEND'S FIANCÉ-Chapter 36 - THIRTY SIX
Chapter 36: Chapter THIRTY SIX
- KILLIAN -
S received my gift. As expected, it ended nicely. Just the way I wanted it to. S’ reaction pleased me very much then we came to make a deal. Just because he chooses to go behind a mask yet knows who he’s working with doesn’t give him the upper hand.
I’m an Ivanov, with or without They, I will succeed with whatever I am pursuing. I always have and I always will. I wash my face with the water I got in my hand from the sink tap. The past few days have not been nice to me. Liam revealed the accounts of my father’s business and something was wrong. It seems like we’ve been getting robbed under our noses and our father’s legacy was close to bankruptcy. I hate that I have to be here in such a crisis but I have no choice.
I slam my fist on the sink and heard a snap. I must’ve hit it a little too hard. I lowered my gaze and noticed the crack on the sink, it’ll be repaired once it’s noticed anyway. I turned the tap off and stared at my reflection in the mirror. My face is dripping water into the sink and my eyes are fierce. Whoever that asshole is that’s messing with my father’s legacy should run now that he or she has the chance. Because I will do anything to get to that person and no one will hold me back from doing whatever I want.
I took a deep breath and slowly exhaled to cool my head. The fucked up thing about this is I am in this fucking university! And I have to walk out of this restroom and pretend that I love my ’job’ while coaching a bunch of students for a tournament that I couldn’t care less about. My brows creased in frustration.
Well, the good thing about this is that Liam is there. He’s handling everything while I do my thing over here. I can count on him and I made him swear that once he finds this leech, he will report back to me immediately. I will take care of that insect myself.
I cracked my neck to both sides. A lazy stretch followed. I won’t fake a smile, but I can definitely hide how I feel. It’s already something I’m used to. Letting my darkness swallow me in till I can’t feel anything anymore.
Another thing I worry about are those agents of S that I butchered. I ensured I found every one of them and they all claimed they had not reported anything to S yet, meaning nothing about a certain woman staying in my house and sharing my bed with me but I can’t trust that. I still have to dig deeper. They’re all a bunch of snakes. Asami including.
My finger nails pricked my palm and I loosened my fist. It’s best not to think about anything alarming at the moment. For my sake at least. I exhaled and head toward the exit with a bland expression on my face.
Breathe Killian. Just remember to breathe.
I pushed the door leading out of this restroom forward gently, heading outside. I hate public bathrooms. It makes me feel irritated. Not because it’s untidy but because I love having things exclusively for me and that’s why I never use public restrooms, even when I desperately need to, for anything except hand washing, and occasionally, face rinsing.
A half grin formed on my face. I only took a few steps forward when a body came clashing with mine.
"Ow!" The person screamed as her body fell backwards to the ground. I didn’t move a muscle but lowered my gaze to stare at the person who bumped into me. It is a lady in ponytails. Her hair is all over her face so I couldn’t recognise her at first till I heard her murmur in agony.
I got down on a knee and stretched my hand forward to give a hand. "Thanks." The girl muttered, grabbing my palm gently and I pulled her up along with my weight.
Hazel. Typical clumsy lady. She’s dressed in her sportswear. I trailed my eyes down her body. That was a massive fall. Is she okay?
"Are you alright?" I ask, staring boredly at her form.
She managed to put her foot on the floor, muttering curses each time. I could tell it was due to the pain. It should hurt. She should be more careful when she walks. Or run as the case may be. "I think so." She breath, moving back without breaking her grip on my hand. "I hope I’m not." She giggled. I couldn’t help but notice the wince after that statement.
She’s hurt. I hope not so badly.
"Is your body made of steel or something? Definitely can knock me over." She added, brushing her hair backwards. She hasn’t looked up at me since I got her to stand on the ground yet she speaks so casually that I wonder if she knows it’s me and got too comfortable or this is just how she interacts with people.
I find that highly unsettling for some reason.
"I do a lot of training." I responded. My tone seems firm, I think I should talk with ease. I breath a sigh.
"It sure is working mister-" She looked up at me. At first, I thought the sudden look of horror as she stared at my face was just something I had imagined till she pulled her hand away from me quickly. Hazel stumbled back like she had just seen a ghost.
"Sir..., I apologise for my behaviour." She said, bowing her head. She looks like she needs water but what is this behaviour? I want to say we’ve gone past this but I know we haven’t.
Why did she move away from me? And why did she refer to me this way.
"H-" I want to call her name but I don’t think this is a good idea. "It’s okay." I said. I would’ve asked if she’s okay again but I already know she won’t answer. My lips formed a line as I glanced ahead, past her forehead, to look behind her. Kate rushed forward.
She stopped moving when she saw me. Unlike Hazel, she’s dressed differently. Casually in fact. And her hair is loose. She didn’t say a word but stood there, watching us.
The ends of my lips curled as I locked eyes with her. Kate averted her gaze to the floor and tuck her hair behind her ears, abashed. Even from here, I can see the tint on her cheeks. She’s blushing. Well isn’t that cute?
"I guess I’ll see you later." I said to Hazel and stared at Kate once more before walking forward, past the two of them.
"Give me my band!" I heard Kate’s voice echo in the empty hallway, her words were followed by a giggle.
"Ow, be careful, my body hurts." Hazel complained.
"Well you deserve that, next time you won’t run off like that."
I sighed, still moving ahead. The further I walked, the lower the sound of their voices were. I know they’re still talking but now, I can’t hear what anyone is saying. I finally sighted the door leading to my office and placedy card on the door. It opened.
I stepped in.
My jaw tightened the moment my gaze met what laid inside my office walls. It’s not messy and there’s nothing unusual about how it looks but something bugs me. Why did Hazel pull away from me back there? Was that because we’re in school? I wasn’t holding her in any way that screamed like there was anything going on between us.
Which there isn’t. Yet it bugs me.
I walk to my desk. Laying on the table is S’ flash drive. I can’t believe I was that careless to leave this out here in the open. To everyone it’s just a normal hard drive but it’s not. It’s risky even being in this school. I clenched my fingers around it and dip it in my pocket.
With everything going on, I don’t think my head is in the right state to aid prepare studebtsy for some stupid sport tournament but I don’t really have a choice. A groan escape my lips.
Let’s get this done with. Then I can go back to the comfort of my home and focus on what’s really important. Finding that leech.
