Chapter 32: Chapter THIRTY TWO

- HAZEL -

I’m stuck in a spot here. After my recent conviction, I finally know what to write in my book. I’m just writing my story in a third person’s pov or narrative point of view, in my opinion, while switching a few things or making a few tweaks here and there.

Trust me, it helps. I leaned my arms back a little for a stretch. I’m sat on my chair which is tucked in my reading table and working on this new hobby of mine. It actually is a relaxing way to pass time. I’m actually enjoying this. What I do not understand is how I’m stuck with a question mark in my story.

Maybe just because even the author doesn’t know what happens next.

’Is it ’Marriage rules and regulations’ she read or is Elaine just stuck in her head again and imagining things?’ I read the last few lines of the rough draft in my Chapter.

’Or does Elaine want to believe there’s a loop hole she’s completely blind to which could make her act as she likes? Without any form of guilt?

That’s something she’ll never know and it’s something she fears knowing as well.’

I brought my palm to my shoulder and massage my arm. Damn, I’m good! I do need to edit but reading this makes me wonder why I never chose to consider having a career as an author.

That’s if I don’t get tired of writing this and ditch it later in the future.

Now that sounds like a fantastic idea. I smiled.

"What are you working on?" I jerked in my chair as the deep feminine voice of Jasmine scared me. I did not expect her to creep up on me like that.

"Just stuff. What’s up with you?" I ask without turning. The ache on my neck has died down a little bit. I heard a loud thud and my brows creased. Did her weight falling on her bed make that noise? That’s absurd!

"Nothing. I just want to listen to some pop music and doze off." I giggled to her words. The sound of creasing sheets slid into my ears and I smiled. I think she just laid down.

"Have at it. I’ll keep trying to keep myself busy." I said. "Enjoy the nap."

"Mm-hm." Jasmine said and was quiet.

All this writing and thinking makes me hungry. I should eat. I got up from my seat. I’d love to go to that café again but I want to eat something heavy. Something that’ll get me so full that I’ll pass out immediately I get to my bed.

Ughhh, what exactly could that be? Maybe I should order pizza.

No, that’ll be too boring. Plus I doubt I’ll be able to eat a whole pizza alone with my roommates around. I giggled. Perks of living with people means, despite having privacy, some things are just meant to be shared.

Maybe I’ll go for a walk. It’ll be good exercise to get my head off a lot of thing, that envelope included and the sports tournament which i hope is still a silly lie, and I will stop at the pizza place and order two large pizzas then head to a supermarket to get some ice cream and popsicles with snacks while I’m waiting for my order to get ready.

I reviewed my plan again and proceeded to check my purse. Well, I’m out of cash....

I pick up my phone from my desk to check my PayPal. I don’t want to touch the money in my bank account yet. The time to use that has not come.

Sweet! I have a few to spare from my PayPal.

Two large pizzas it is!

I walk to my bed and pull the stairs drawer out, looking for a comfortable fit to wear. What could possibly be good for a not so cold afternoon walk?

- KILLIAN -

I’ve arrived. Sighting the mansion that belongs to my family brings a smile to my face. To be fair, the only family I have is my brother, Liam. My very annoying brother.

I turned off the car engine and stepped out of the car with my suitcase, walking to the entrance. This place is called The Iva, named after the first few letters of father’s name, Ivanov. It is a mansion which looks like a estate. Heck, it can house the whole region if we wanted it.

My family always loved the peace and space hence they built The Iva to build a legacy. My parents planned to birth more kids. Mother was pregnant when she was murdered.

My fists clenched. There is no use for me to think about this right now. If I want a ruined mood, I have Liam to do that for me. A grin formed on my face. Standing at the entrance is him.

Dressed in a wine suit, Liam’s body prodded the door. "Hello brother." Liam said with a smirk, his hands are stretched to the side a little. I know that’s not an invitation for a hug, it’s simply Liam being majestic.

A grin formed on my face as I stood in front of him. Despite how built he is, I’m still taller and no matter where we stand, everyone will know who the younger one is. Although Liam doesn’t give a fuck, he loves that he can get away with anything and doesn’t have to be responsible. Doesn’t mean the rascal isn’t. "Hello Liam," I said, putting my arms in the air.

There’s this thing we do when we meet. He must think I’ve forgotten but I haven’t. It helps us stay alert at all times.

I threw my suitcase at him. He caught it without breaking a sweat and passed it to someone inside. Now that our hands are both free.... "Long time no see." I finished my sentence.

"Would be nice if you aren’t so carefree." Liam dips his hands in his shirt and throws something at me. I dodged, bending lower, leaving one leg out in an attempt to take him off his feet with a lowered spinning kick.

But of course he’s smarter than that. He somersaults and throws more knives at me. That’s when I brought out my gun and shot countless times while reloading.

He kept dodging and pushing them away with his blades till three bullets were headed at him, one straight to his head, the other headed toward his chest and the last toward his crotch. He flung two blades forward which hit the bullets, redirecting the direction of the bullets then forced his hand up immediately. A screeching noise bled my ears.

I’m panting while on the floor, staring at my brother with a wide smile. That was fun. "One wrong move and you’d be dead. Do better." I said to him.

He released his grip on the knives and the bullet came crashing down. I stared at the bent blades trapped in the space between each finger. Those knives will never be good enough to be used again. Good thing he has a bunch.

"I could say the same to you." My eyes widened when I felt the sound of something sharp slicing through the air, directed at me. I shook my head to the side and scoffed. The asshole threw a dagger at me. "Do better." He said.

On a normal day, we’d help each other up from the ground but I’m guessing this is Liam’s way of paying back. An eye for an eye it seems. I taught him well.

I placed my feet firm on the ground and flipped my body forward to stand. "You ruined my suit." I dusted the shoulder twice with my palm. My suit is hardly stained with dust.

"You should be glad there’s no other thing ruined." Liam said, walking in. He left the door open.

The moment I took a step in I halted, sniffing the air. It reeks of alcohol. "I see you made yourself home already." I said to him, proceeding forward with him.

"Oh come on brother, what’s a home for a man without women to celebrate?" He walks to the living room. Music is blaring softly from the TV speakers and women are everywhere. Literally everywhere. Some are on the sofa, some laying on the floor, some playing ’waitress’ and these women are hardly dressed. How on earth can he survive this? Typical Liam. He has always been the carefree brother. Those days of mine are long gone.

"You better run the business better then you run your hoes." I grit my teeth, following Liam.

He turned to face me with a sly grin, "You bet I do. Although I treat my women well."

He looks forward and opens a door which leads to a passage leading to another part of the house. We need to have a serious discussion and definitely can’t do that in a noisy environment with ears everywhere.

Oh... I see now. So that’s how he did it. Those women are just distractions.

"Figured it out yet?" Liam asks like he can read my mind, opening the door to the office.

"Annoyingly, yes." I responded with a firm look on my face. "Not bad at all."

"I know." He sat on the chair on the other side of the table meant for guests, leaving the host’s seat open for me.

"I assumed you lost your manners while I was gone." I said, making my way to the chair.

"You assumed wrong." There’s a proud tone in his voice as he tilts his head up that gets to me. I like it but at the same time, I want to punch the tone out of him. "Well, why are you here?" He asks once I make myself comfortable on the seat.

"Business as usual." I cleared my throat. My mind slipped to my conversation with Asami. "But first, we have a few rats to take care of. S broke part of our deal."
