Secretly Married for 4 Years, He Regrets to Tears After the Divorce-Chapter 94: You Are Unfaithful to Your Marriage
Adrian Lancaster suddenly leaned in. The cool scent that was uniquely his, laced with a faint hint of alcohol, filled the air around her.
Wren Sutton felt a tickle in her ear, as if a feather had gently brushed it. She shivered and instinctively pulled back.
Adrian Lancaster caught the back of her head, his gesture firm and domineering.
They were so close their noses were nearly touching, the proximity charged and intimate.
"Don’t pull away. Answer the question."
Wren Sutton’s heart hammered in her chest. Trapped between the seat and Adrian Lancaster, she had nowhere to run.
The neon and streetlights outside cast shifting shadows across his face, highlighting his handsome, sharp profile.
His gaze was deep and inscrutable, concealing something she couldn’t decipher.
"What kind of person are you? Shouldn’t you already know the answer to that?"
Adrian Lancaster stared at her. "Are you unwilling to answer, or just afraid?"
Wren Sutton felt a flash of irritation. "There’s nothing to be afraid of. But the truth can be hard to swallow. You still want to hear it?"
"Let’s hear it."
Wren Sutton hadn’t expected Adrian Lancaster to be so fixated on this question. It was rather unlike him.
But since he was insisting, she decided not to hold back.
"You’re the one who asked. So if I say something too harsh, don’t you go taking it out on me."
Adrian Lancaster said, "Say whatever you want. I won’t get angry."
Wren Sutton cleared her throat, just as she was about to let him have it, his phone suddenly rang.
The moment was shattered. Adrian Lancaster frowned.
"I need to get this."
He made no move to hide the phone, pulling it out right in front of Wren Sutton. The name "Maya" lit up the screen.
Wren Sutton saw it, of course. Her expression went blank as she turned her head to stare out the car window.
After a moment’s hesitation, Adrian Lancaster answered the call.
"What is it?"
Maya Marshall was inviting Adrian Lancaster over to the Marshall family’s home for dinner.
Wren Sutton heard every word perfectly clearly. She rolled her eyes in disgust.
Adrian sat up, loosening his tie as he spoke. "I just ate."
"Then come for lunch tomorrow, okay? I’ve asked you so many times. If you say no again, my parents are going to say I can’t do anything right," Maya Marshall whined, her voice dripping with self-pity.
Adrian Lancaster’s heart softened instantly. "I’ll see about tomorrow. I can’t promise I’ll be free."
"No matter how busy you are, you still have time to eat... Or is it that you just don’t want to come to my house at all..." Maya Marshall’s voice broke into a sob by the end.
Adrian’s head throbbed. "Don’t cry."
Maya Marshall only cried harder, her voice trembling as she choked out, "Why is it so hard for me to see you now?"
Wren Sutton couldn’t listen anymore. She felt like she was going to throw up from disgust.
"Stop the car."
Adrian Lancaster immediately hung up and turned on her, his tone accusatory. "What do you think you’re doing?"
"It means exactly what it sounds like. Tell the driver to stop. I’ll get a cab home myself." Wren Sutton was in a foul mood, seething with anger.
Adrian Lancaster put his phone away. "Don’t make a scene."
Hearing those four words made Wren Sutton even more furious. She had reached her limit.
"Am I the one making a scene, or is it you and Maya Marshall who have no shame?"
"Wren Sutton!" Adrian Lancaster warned, his voice laced with fury. "Watch your mouth."
Wren Sutton took a deep breath, trying to control her emotions. She hated screaming and refused to let herself become some kind of raving shrew.
"You helped me today, and I didn’t want to fight with you, but..."
She let out a bitter laugh, her heart aching.
"You just asked what kind of person you are in my eyes. I’ll tell you now, Adrian Lancaster. You’re a scumbag, unfaithful to your marriage."
With a screech of brakes, the Rolls-Royce lurched to a stop at the side of the road.
Wren Sutton got out of the car, slamming the door shut. Before she had even steadied herself, the car peeled away.
The night wind was cold, but it was nothing compared to the chill in her heart.
Wren Sutton hailed a taxi back to Amberwood Estates.
Her car was at Isla Griffith’s place; she planned to go get it tomorrow.
The elevator doors opened, and Wren Sutton stepped inside. She was alone. Mentally and physically exhausted, she leaned against the cool metal wall.
Just as the doors were about to close, she heard the sound of hurried footsteps outside.
"Hold the door, please!"
Wren Sutton kindly held the door open.
A man stepped in quickly. "Thank you," he said politely.
Wren Sutton looked up. Their eyes met, and they both froze in surprise.
"Wren Sutton!"
"Senior!"
"You live here?" Spencer Sawyer asked, his voice filled with excitement.
Wren Sutton nodded, an indescribable emotion welling up inside her as a smile spread across her face. "Mhm, you too?"
A warm, brilliant smile lit up Spencer Sawyer’s face. "Yes, I live here too."
"What a coincidence." 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
Spencer Sawyer was clearly delighted, his eyes shining with light.
"Wren Sutton, this must be fate."
They looked at each other and smiled.
It truly was fate.
