Secretly Married for 4 Years, He Regrets to Tears After the Divorce-Chapter 91: Dragged into a Private Room by a Man with Tattooed Arms
Learning of Sean Sterling’s "one-hit takedown," Isla Griffith was very grateful. She understood that desperate times called for desperate measures, so she didn’t blame him for what he’d said.
"President Sterling, thank you for helping me take care of a huge problem."
"And thank you, President Lancaster."
Adrian Lancaster was too proud to take credit, his expression aloof and cold.
Sean Sterling was composed, showing little emotion.
"It was nothing. I just said it offhandedly. You’re welcome."
Isla Griffith was still filled with gratitude.
Just saying thank you didn’t feel sincere enough, so she offered to treat them to dinner.
’No matter how much she disliked Adrian Lancaster, he had helped her today. She had to show her appreciation. She could go back to disliking him tomorrow if she wanted.’
"Pick any restaurant you want. It’s my treat."
Isla Griffith was ready to splurge; she’d pay no matter the cost.
"How could I refuse such a kind offer?" Sean Sterling smiled, accepting.
"I do know a great private kitchen. The ambiance and the food are both top-notch."
Isla Griffith trusted his taste and judgment. "Then let’s go to the one you mentioned, President Sterling. I’ll go get my car."
Sean Sterling stopped her.
"Parking is limited there. It’s better if we take two cars. You can ride with me."
Isla Griffith hesitated. "Would that be alright?"
Sean Sterling looked at her, his gaze sincere. "Of course."
Isla Griffith wasn’t one to be fussy, so she readily agreed.
"Alright, I’ll ride with President Sterling."
She glanced back at Wren Sutton and saw that Adrian Lancaster had already led her into his car.
The two cars drove out of the complex, one after the other.
In the Rolls-Royce, Wren Sutton and Adrian Lancaster sat in the back seat.
Because Adrian Lancaster had stepped in to help, Wren Sutton felt grateful and was willing to make small talk with him, preventing any awkward silences.
"Have you been to that restaurant Sean mentioned?"
"No." Adrian Lancaster didn’t sound very enthusiastic.
’If Wren Sutton hadn’t insisted on going, he wouldn’t have bothered with this dinner at all.’
"Oh, I thought you’d been there before."
"If you want to go, then I’ll go with you."
Wren Sutton picked up on his passive-aggressive tone. "From the sound of it, you don’t actually want to go."
"I’m not hurting for a meal."
Wren Sutton barely resisted the urge to roll her eyes.
"Then why didn’t you refuse downstairs? If you’d made it clear you weren’t going, I would’ve just ridden with Isla in Sean’s car."
Adrian Lancaster’s eyes bored into her. "You can only ride in my car."
"..."
A moment later, Adrian Lancaster’s gaze fell and he noticed Wren Sutton’s left ring finger was bare.
He frowned in displeasure.
"Why aren’t you wearing your ring?"
Wren Sutton brushed it off. "I took it off to wash my face and forgot to put it back on."
’In reality, it had taken a great deal of effort to get that ring off.’
"Wear it whenever you go out from now on." Adrian Lancaster’s tone was domineering; it wasn’t a suggestion, but a command.
Wren Sutton said nothing.
’Wasn’t it her decision whether to wear it or not? Besides, it’s not like Adrian Lancaster could watch her hands twenty-four-seven.’
Adrian Lancaster took her silence as tacit agreement and didn’t press the issue, changing the subject instead.
"Don’t forget what you promised me on the phone."
Wren Sutton knew what he meant. Without batting an eye, she replied, "I deleted the recording the moment we hung up."
"Really?"
Wren Sutton couldn’t be bothered to argue. She simply handed him her phone. "Check it yourself if you don’t believe me."
Adrian Lancaster didn’t touch her phone, his expression unreadable.
"I believe you."
...
「The Private Kitchen」
It was a members-only establishment.
Isla Griffith wasn’t a member, so she went to sign up. The receptionist informed her that the minimum deposit was two hundred thousand.
"..."
’Isla Griffith felt the sting of the price, but she had already made the offer. It would be too embarrassing to back out now.’
She steeled herself, took out her phone to scan the QR code, and said, "I’ll sign up."
"Wait." Sean Sterling stepped forward. "There’s no need for that. I’m a member here. We can book a private room under my name."
Saving two hundred thousand just like that was such an unexpected surprise that Isla Griffith was overjoyed.
"Thank you, President Sterling. But let’s be clear—I’m paying for the meal."
’She was already getting a huge benefit; she couldn’t push her luck and have him pay for the meal with his membership, too.’
After that small interlude, the four of them entered the private room.
The private room offered excellent privacy. The fresh scent of bamboo filled the air, and the ambiance was elegant and serene. The classical Chinese decor was a feast for the eyes.
Following the server’s recommendations, Isla Griffith ordered several of the restaurant’s signature dishes, taking special care to avoid any foods that are considered "cooling" or could be harmful during pregnancy.
Soon, all the dishes had arrived.
A server poured wine for the guests, with the exception of Wren Sutton, who was drinking hot tea.
Isla Griffith raised her glass and offered a few heartfelt words of thanks, toasting Sean Sterling and Adrian Lancaster with the utmost sincerity.
Not wanting to spoil the mood, the two men readily clinked their glasses with hers.
A little wine helped lighten the mood, but no one overindulged. They ate and chatted, and the atmosphere was pleasant.
Partway through the meal, Isla Griffith excused herself to go to the restroom, but she was actually heading to the front desk to settle the bill.
"Hello, your total comes to fifty-eight thousand."
Isla Griffith carefully checked the itemized bill, and once she confirmed it was correct, she took out her phone to pay via QR code.
"Here is your receipt. Please keep it safe."
"Okay, thank you."
After paying the bill, Isla Griffith’s stomach suddenly felt upset, and she hurried toward the restroom.
Back in the private room, Isla Griffith still hadn’t returned. Wren Sutton started to get worried.
"She’s been gone for so long. I’m going to go see what’s wrong."
Sean Sterling reassured her, "The security here is very tight. She’ll be fine."
That might have been true, but Wren Sutton was still uneasy and insisted on going out.
She left the private room and began searching for any sign of Isla Griffith.
As she was passing the door to another private room in the hallway, it was suddenly yanked open from the inside. A thick, heavily tattooed arm shot out and dragged her in.
BAM! The door slammed shut.
