Secret Marriage, High-Profile Pampering!-Chapter 679: My Wife, I Have the Final Say
Her eyebrows slightly furrowed, but she didn’t show much of it and continued quietly dealing with the food on her plate with a knife and fork.
However, by the end of the meal, she had eaten pathetically little.
Adrian assumed the food wasn’t to her taste and didn’t force her to eat. Instead, he said blandly, "Tomorrow, I’ll have the chef from Morning Garden come to the house."
The chef from Morning Garden came from River City and could cook all the dishes from the place where Summer Sutton grew up, making dishes that, to Summer, tasted like home.
Before Summer could say anything, Bryce Walyon chuckled and said, "Your wife is still not used to living at home!"
Indeed, after Summer returned to the Walyon Family, she felt uncomfortable. As someone who had been driven out of this house, she found it hard not to mind the past.
Such things are best kept to oneself.
Bryce deliberately brought up this matter, and there was a strange undercurrent detectable in his words.
Almost as if blaming Summer for not treating this place as her home.
Adrian’s expression turned slightly cold as he raised his head, looked at Bryce, and emotionlessly said, "Does my wife seem to be known better by my uncle than by me?"
His words effectively silenced Bryce.
Isn’t that redundant?
His wife is Adrian’s, so obviously, Adrian understands Summer better than anyone else!
If Adrian says that it’s just the food not to her taste, then it’s just the food not to her taste, and no one is allowed to argue.
Adrian held the knife in one hand and the fork in the other, slicing a piece of lamb and feeding Summer.
"When you were in London, you weren’t used to the food there, were you? Now that we’re back, make sure to eat well. Starting tomorrow, tell the kitchen whatever you want to eat," he instructed as he fed her.
"Okay." Summer smiled at him.
Adrian watched her gradually make her way through her plate of food, then casually returned to his own meal.
Diana Wood occasionally glanced at Summer, secretly observing her.
It was like she was trying to figure something out, her gaze lingering on Summer for a moment.
Bryce, sitting opposite, noticed her gaze, pondered for a while, then suddenly lifted his face and looked at Summer.
Summer kept her head down, taking small bites.
She really wasn’t hungry, and getting through the meal felt like completing a task.
Faintly, she sensed an inexplicable chill.
But she didn’t know exactly where it came from.
She raised her face, discreetly observing everyone at the dining table.
Everyone was quietly eating, each battling with the food on their own plate, and it seemed like no one had been looking at her just now.
Summer didn’t think much of it, chalking up her earlier feeling to a figment of her imagination, and continued eating quietly.
Adrian had been busy in London for over a month and hadn’t had a proper night’s sleep for such a long time.
After dinner was over, he took Summer and headed towards their separate retreat.
When they used to stay at home, he and Summer’s bedroom was in the main house, sharing the same building with the Old Master and Diana Wood.
Due to seldom coming home, he never bothered to set up a separate private retreat.
This time, presumably to make Summer feel more comfortable at home, Adrian had his retreat cleaned and furnished with everything they might need, planning for them to stay there for the next few days.
Once inside, carrying Summer step by step up the stairs, Adrian thought about how little Summer ate for dinner and asked with concern, "Did you get enough to eat at dinner? Is there anything else you’d like?"
