Chapter 47: Chapter 46: A Tempting Invitation

Eleanore’s gaze remained fixed on his face. He is a very beautiful man. His feminine features that resemble the queen’s, only added more points to his handsomeness, making him stand out even in a crowd of millions. His eyes were the type in which anyone could get lost and find no way out. They could keep finding different colors in them, for hours if not days.

Alastor waved his palm in front of Eleanore, breaking her eye contact with his eyes of maze. He again gestured to offer one of the sweets he had brought from the shop nearby. He had spotted her immediately while he was passing by. With an intention to start a conversation, he got some sweets to share. Her favorite ones.

"Thank you." She said as she took the sweet he was holding out for a long time. She took a bite of this unknown sweet and then turned to Alaster with a smile.

"Do you like it? They are your favorite, right?" He said, 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

"They are?" Eleanore asked in astonishment. She didn’t even know the name of this sweet and this person here is telling her that it’s her favorite sweet. Since when?

’Did the original Eleanore have any contact with this man? How does he know this?’

There was no mention of this in the novel, where her character was short-lived. She felt strange about it and a bit scared. If the original Eleanore knew this man, how would she deal with him? She couldn’t feel the original owner’s memories following in her mind. It has stopped for so long that she couldn’t even remember when.

She always found those memories helpful. They helped her complete all the tasks and quests the system had for her. They were her clues and now they are gone, leaving her vulnerable.

"Is it not?" He was puzzled. Honestly, he himself was not sure if the rumour of this sweet being Eleanore’s favorite was true. "I thought that the rumours were true."

"What rumours?" Eleanore asked, unaware of what he was talking about. It all sounded weird.

"Yes, they say you love plain plum cakes."

The men who loved Eleanore had spread this rumour. They say that every man who loved her and would want to earn her favour, would start the proposal with this plain sweet. It was so famous that the shopkeepers had raised the price of this plain sweet, with an intention to make a little more money out of it.

And it worked, for as long as they could remember, until a few months ago. When Eleanore Sinclair stopped accepting any proposals of these men, and started burning away their gifts.

"I should have known that they weren’t your favorite anymore, since you were burning them away.

"No." Elesnore looked at the small circular, pink cake-like thing. She took another bite and realised that indeed this sweet was very good. It has a chewy texture that melts in her mouth.

"Crown prince—-"

"Alastor." He interrupted, shooting his deadly smile her way again.

Eleanore gave him a helpless look and then continued with what she was about to say. "Alastor. I think I still love them." The cold breeze kissed her cheeks and danced through her blond hair, as she continued. "I believe I was just too tired of those gifts. So, I have stopped eating this." She chuckled at that, feeling naive and embarrassed about her lie but Alastor— he was left mesmerized by that sat.

As they continued to eat this cake, silence surrounded them. A peaceful one. This silence made the moment they were in so much special, that they wouldn’t have minded sitting like this for hours. Just being next to each other was enough to make their heart flutter.

"Lady Eleanore—" Sadly, Alastor had to break this silence. "Why are you here?" Curious about her sudden appearance in the countryside, where she rarely visits. He asked.

"I came here with the grand duke and the baroness." She sighed after saying that. "I wanted to give them some space. So I came here."

"I see." Alastor could sense the loneliness and sadness in her words.

Just then an idea shot into his mind. His eyes widened with joy at that idea. "Do you, My lady—" He turned to face her. " — Would you like to come with me to a party with me?"

"A party?" Interested, Eleanore also turned to him. "What party?" she asked.

"It’s a party organised for my royal knights."

"But—" Eleanore tried to reason about attending this party. What if they didn’t like her presence there? She didn’t want to make everyone awkward in their happy moments.

"They will love to have you there." Alastor assured her.

"Grand duke and baroness will be here to pick me up in an hour." Eleanore argued.

"I will drop you here in an hour." He got up and held out his hand for her. "What do you think?" He arched both his eyebrows, asking her to think twice before taking a decision.

Eleanore argued with her inner voice for a while. Instead of sitting over here like a stray animal, it would be better to venture around. Moreover, the crown prince doesn’t seem like a bad person, so it should be fine. Also, she really wanted to accept this once in a lifetime opportunity. When would she ever get to attend a knights party again?

She held his hand and Alastor pulled her out of her seat in excitement. She was about to fall on his chest but held her ground. He is the crown prince of Seraphine and she must behave.

Alastor gripped tightly on her hand as they rushed to a small restaurant, not very far from the fountain square. Although small, the restaurant was brightened by candles and laughter of royal knights. Every knight had a jug of liquor in their hands, all ready to drown themselves in the pool of liquor and fun tonight.

The mood in the restaurant had also lightened up Eleanore’s mood.
