Saving The Villainous Monster From The Male Lead-Chapter 34 - 33: Death Is Knocking On The Door
The evening fell but Eleanore didn’t step out of her room. She hadn’t eaten anything since she woke up in the morning. After Caelestis left, she only gulped the whole jug of water to calm her itching throat.
Then she sat on her balcony that had a beautiful view to offer. Her thoughts had gone silent when her eyes fell on the beautiful landscape. She witnessed the rising of the sun. The moon and the sun sitting together in the sky as their colors met. And now, the Sun was leaving the sky to give space to the moon, shedding away its lime light to his only friend.
As if she had been lost in a space surrounded by serene silence, she remained quiet in her chair. Her knees hugging to her chest, hands around her legs and face resting on those knees. The cold winds started to take over the hot ones, as she started leaving that space into reality.
A window popped in front of her with a new notification.

Honestly, Eleanore could no longer understand whose side the system was. Did it side with her for her survival or Cealestis’ or Stella’s. From all the quests and tasks she had gotten until now, it looked like it was on Stella’s side. Because all this system was doing until now was putting her in trouble. That’s all.
She stepped down from the chair and walked out of her balcony. The maid dress from yesterday was still on her body, smelling from all the sweat that had covered her body.
"Marina!" She called in a soft voice, so soft that it could never reach Marina’s ears that were outside the room.
Eleanore was about to call her again, this time in a louder voice, but stopped herself. Marina, her personal maid. Probably someone she should be able to believe in the most, left her side when she needed her the most.
It is a maid’s job to protect her mistress, keep her secrets safe, yet— yet she revealed everything to Caelestis, surrendering to his fearsome aura and if that was not enough, she ran away when Caelestis was choking her to death last night.
A loud sigh escaped her mouth, when she realised that the scene of last night had invaded her mind again. She just wanted to remain quiet and calm for a while, but looks like that’s not what the system wanted.
Eleanore herself took a warm bath and changed into her nightgown. She grabbed a shawl to cover herself from the cold, which the thin fabric of her nightgown was failing at.
She stood in front of the room door for a while, riding a wild ride of thoughts and possibilities of what would happen next. If she brings up the topic of Stella, Caelestis might this time truly kill her. But the penalty is so high, that she has no other choice.

Eitherways, death is inevitable. It is standing on her door ready to knock in, then why not just gracefully invite it in?
Eleanore pushes the knob. The door slides open and immediately an unwanted face appears in front of her.
"Marina!" Eleanore says, when she sees her disloyal maid standing in front of her, tears welling up in her eyes, her face dropped to the ground immediately on seeing her mistress’ poor condition.
Embarrassment filled in her eyes, when Marina saw her lady leaving the room after more than half the day. She had been worried sick as to why Eleanore was not out yet. No breakfast, no dinner, no bath. Marina hated this feeling, she had no right to feel this, when she couldn’t muster up the courage to defy Caelestis’ order of not entering the room until her lady calls. What a useless maid she is!
"I need a candle for the torch, fetch me one." Eleanore ordered, blankly staring at her maid’s face.
Marina quickly entered the room and pulled out a candle from the side table in the corner. She started to prepare the torch. While seeing Eleanore standing at the doorway, from the corner of her eyes, she pulled out a matchbox from her pocket and shifted her concentration back to the torch as she started to rub the matchstick to light it.
Just when the matchstick lit and it was about to light up the candle as well, Marina heard her Master’s empty yet fearsome words.
"Should I kill you?" She said, as if talking to herself out loud.
The matchstick slipped from her hand and fell on the back of the palm of her other hand, making her hiss in pain as she shook her hand in the air, in pain.
"Careful, Marina. I am yet to decide your punishment and you are already hurting yourself." Eleanore said, her gaze fixed on Marina, when she turned to look at her master.
