Saving The Villainous Monster From The Male Lead-Chapter 107 - 106: Crown Princess Candidate
It is said that King Arthur the First, had struck a war against the great Empire of Yena. For he hated how people of the West were discriminated against by the eastern Empire Yena.
His words of rebellion, inspired many young westerners and they all together waged a war against the then Emperor Yen Sisu.
The war was dragged on for twelve years. The emperor had millions of arm forces and Arthur had only a few thousand. Yet they were undefeatable.
Finally, when it felt like the wealth of Yena was seeping away and yet the courage of westerners didn’t die. He decided to sign a treaty.
The treaty said that the western part, which was acquired by King Arthur, in the war against the emperor, would be given to him as his land and he shall be the king of that kingdom. But the supreme Empire would still remain Yena.
Yena promised that they would not interfere with any changes made or laws, the Westerners passed in their Kingdom named Seraphine. In return, they must pay ten percent of the tax collected from the people of Seraphine.
The mere ten percent tax meant nothing to Emperor Yen Sisu, it was just a kind of pride that satisfied his ego, making him believe Seraphine was still under him.
On the day of King Arthur’s coronation, the capital and various other cities and villages celebrated for days. Since then, the one-week celebration is treated as Foundation Day celebration.
The first day starts with an opening party in the royal palace and then for five days, the cities and villages and the streets of the capital have their traditional, years old rituals and celebration.
Then on the last day, another party is organised in the royal palace. A garden party, where nobles have auction party to collect revenue, which is then used to donate to the poor and for infrastructure in the less developed parts of the country.
"So, you are trying to say that King Arthur the first, fought for the discrimination? That’s all?" She asked again.
"Yes." Alastor answered as the carriage pulled over in front of the royal palace. Her carriage was the only one that got to go so deep into the royal grounds.
Otherwise, one must have to walk through that long path. Although last time too she was with Alastor, she had to walk that path. For he had come out to pick her up.
Alastor gently got out of the carriage, unwilling to cause even a little bit of turbulence in the carriage.
Eleanore held his arm and carefully walked down the stairs he had prepared for her, as she spoke. "I find it hard to believe. Did he not go through that discrimination, himself?"
"No, he was a noble man." He extended his hand for her to grab.
"He must have felt it for him to realise it was wrong." She continued to argue. "Unless you don’t understand the gravity of a situation and cannot resonate with that. You cannot fight for it."
"You are right. However, unfortunately there was no mention of this part of the story in the history."
"History is not stories; they are either complete lies or half truths. They can never be the only truth. History hides within its pages a million mysteries." They enter the ballroom.
"Looks like you like history." He chuckles.
"I do not. I just love knowing about those untold stories."
"See you called it a story too." He chuckles.
Eleanore turned her gaze to him and glared at him. "Because I couldn’t find another word for it." She argues.
"Right." He laughs harder.
This time Eleanore didn’t feel nervous when hundreds of gazes fell on her. Most of them might be thinking about how she became a crown princess candidate from today onwards. Some are probably jealous that she got that place without any efforts and by being a villainess for most of her life then suddenly turning kind. Some believed that her trying to change herself and being kind was an act to earn Crown Prince Alastor’s love.
"You didn’t mention in the letter that standing next to you today, might mean that I am a crown princess candidate." She says, as she walks up to the throne area.
Alastor hesitated before answering, he lied like it was nothing. "I thought you knew."
"Alastor, if I knew I wouldn’t have accepted your request. You know that too." She turns her gaze to him, but his remain fixed on the two chairs near the throne room that are set for him and Eleanore.
"You must sit with me beside the king and the queen." He ignores her words and guides her to the King and the Queen.
They greet them together and take their seats. For some reason she was sitting next to the queen, who seconds after she had adjusted turned to her. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"I can’t believe we can finally have a word." She says in excitement. "My son truly adores you."
Eleanore gives an awkward smile.
"I know what happened. You rejected him." Eleanore squeezes her hand, on the mention of that night. "But that’s fine, feelings develop slowly."
Eleanore turns to the huge hall that she had never seen and was wondering why on earth the royal palace has so many ballrooms? Alastor had said in the carriage that this ball room is specially preserved for the founding day opening celebration.
And she couldn’t help but wonder if the ball room changes with every event? Or do they perhaps fool the nobles by simply changing a bit of a decoration? Then the thought sounds nonsensical, for the decor can be changed but not the infrastructure.
"Your son is a kind man. He might even be my type." She says, when her eyes fall on Caelestis, who already had his eyes on her, narrowed in confusion. "But I think— I am a bit—" She took a pause, as her eyes remained locked on him and the queen noticed it as well. " —Confused." She says that in relation to the system, her mission and how this world is not real.
But the queen assumes that it was related to her years long crush that still flared in her heart, somewhere deep down.
She patted the back of Eleanore’s palm. "You are just a candidate, don’t worry. No one will force you to become the crown princess. You should absolutely marry the one you love. Ideal type changes every now and then, after all."
Eleanore’s face jolts to her way. A sweet smile was stuck on that face, but deep down it felt like she didn’t really like her and couldn’t imagine Eleanore as the next queen of Seraphine.
Queen Isador was actually against his son’s love. It is all an act.
