Chapter 519: Break his arm

But Luo did not say it. He did not say anything. The silence enveloped them once more, broken only by the howling wind and the groans from Master Lee. Luo Muchen remained resolute, his silence a defiance that echoed louder than words. Master Zi, seething with impotent rage, released his chin, his eyes burning with hatred.

He had finally realised that the relationship between father and son wasn’t good. Luo Muchen would rather watch his father suffer and not do anything about it. He could have eased Master Lee’s pain by saying the words but he didn’t even open his mouth. In Luo Muchen’s heart, his father was just like his mother who abandoned him. His father knew he existed and didn’t have the intention to claim him. It was only when he wanted to use him that he came looking for him.

Master Zi put away the gu worm closing the box shut with a loud snap. He didn’t want to kill Master Lee as yet. He still had some usefulness. As for Luo Muchen, he would get his wish but whether he would walk out of the competition alive wouldn’t be a sure guarantee.

The sneer on his face twisted further as he gave a slight nod to his henchmen. "Break his arm," he ordered as if he were instructing them to snap a mere twig rather than a man’s arm.

Zi Mixen’s heart shuttered to pieces. She couldn’t believe it. Luo Muchen truly didn’t want to marry her even if it meant his arm would be broken. Her face was ashen flushed with exertion and panic. "Father, no!" she cried out, her voice laced with desperation as she tightened her grip on her father’s leg. She hoped that this would move Luo Muchen seeing that she was the only one who could save him. But her kindness went unnoticed.

Master Zi’s eyes flicked towards his daughter, the only person who could make his cold heart waver. Yet the grip he held on his decision was as ironclad as the grip his men had on Luo Muchen. "This is for our family and humiliating my daughter," he said firmly, attempting to pull her up again. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Zi Mixen’s eyes filled with tears, her plea resonating through the room. "Father no! Please, for the love you bear me, do not do this," she cried out her lips trembling and her eyes swollen from the endless tears.

Master Zi forced her up his strength much more than before. She was forced to her feet. Stern and formidable he decreed, "Take the young miss to rest and confine her to her room until I say otherwise."

As her sobs echoed through the courtyard, the maidservants rushed over, under her father’s orders, gently but firmly took her by the arms, guiding her away. They tried to console their young miss while coaxing her to come with them.

"No, please, I beg of you, let me stay!" she pleaded, her voice breaking with anguish.

Master Zi spoiled her rotten but when it came to important things he put his foot down. If Luo Muchen was willing to comply he would have let them marry but he would make sure to torture Luo Muchen and even give him the gu worm like his father. He had indeed realised that he had put the gu worm in the wrong person in the first place. It should have been Luo Muchen, not Master Lee he needed to control.

That being said his command was absolute, and as Miss Zi was led further away, her cries faded into the distance. In the eerie silence that followed, the only sound that could be heard was a chilling snap, followed by muffled groans. Luo Muchen’s arm had been broken.

The men had laid his arm at an angle and one of them kicked his arm snapping his bones. Luo Muchen felt a surge of anger and hatred as he saw Master Zi’s smug grin. He clenched his teeth and endured the pain, refusing to give Master Zi the satisfaction of seeing him cry.

Master Zi ordered his men to toss the pair of father and son out of his residence like garbage. He was done with them for now and wanted to go inside and coax his daughter. He watched them land on the dirty street, bleeding and bruised.

Luo Muchen wrapped his broken arm with a piece of cloth, trying to stop the bleeding. He didn’t even spare his father a glance nor did he notice the crowd of people who had been attracted by the noise at the Zi family but didn’t dare enter through the gates to see the drama.

Master Lee, was filled with shame and rage. He blamed Luo Muchen for everything. He blamed him for challenging Master Zi, for refusing to marry Zi Mixen bringing dishonour to their family name. He slapped Luo Muchen across the face, then pushed him away.

"Get away from me, you worthless son!" He shouted. "From now on you are no longer my son. You are no longer a Lee. You are nothing. You are dead to me."

Luo Muchen felt a pang of sadness, but he quickly suppressed it. He didn’t need his father. He didn’t need anyone except for his wife. Everyone had deserted him a long time ago so what was one more person? He got up and walked away, ignoring his father’s curses.

Master Lee saw the people staring at him with pity and contempt. He couldn’t bear it. He ran to his carriage, hoping to escape from the scene. He climbed in and told the driver to take him away. He covered his face with his hands vowing to kill that ungrateful bastard.
