Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 426: I am your father
They began to question their allegiance, torn between their duty to the king and the realisation that their lives and those of their loved ones were also at stake.
As the nobles fled a few courageous soldiers broke free from their internal struggle. They joined forces with Qie Xieling and fought beside him including Bi Yu. Together, they fought back against the king’s guard, their combined strength overwhelming the defenders of the King.
Amidst the chaos, Bi Yu said to Qie Xieling, "Get the king. We will hold them off for you!" Qie Xieling nodded, his eyes blazing with determination, and he darted towards the fleeing king, eager to bring him to justice and finally bring peace of mind to Luo Muchen.
His heart raced as he chased the king through the labyrinthine passageways. But just as he thought he had gained ground, he was intercepted by the king’s loyal attendant. For him to serve the king he had to be a formidable force. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
The clash between him and the attendant was intense and relentless. Their swords clashed, creating sparks that illuminated the dark corridors. Each strike and parry echoed through the narrow space, their determination fueling their every move. Qie Xieling’s skills were put to the test as he matched the attendant’s ferocity blow for blow.
After what felt like an eternity of gruelling combat, Qie Xieling’s perseverance paid off. With a well-timed strike, he managed to knock out the king’s attendant, leaving him sprawled on the cold stone floor. But victory came at a cost. He was left exhausted and gasping for breath, his muscles aching from the fight and the conflicts prior.
Pushing through his weariness, he pressed on, determined to capture the king. As he ventured deeper into the passageways, he stumbled upon a room shrouded in darkness, illuminated only by the soft hum of machines. The room was filled with rows upon rows of people encased in capsules, their lifeless forms suspended in an eerie stillness.
He cautiously moved through the silent room. It seemed what Jolie said was right. They had managed to develop the technology so they could take over anyone’s body. The only thing that was stopping the King from taking anyone else’s body was that he needed Luo Muchen’s face as the king of Zeden to take over the throne.
His eyes scanned the capsules, searching for any signs of the King. Suddenly, without warning, a towering figure lunged at him from the shadows. It was a man twice his size, their face twisted with anger and malice.
"How predictable. You thought you could defeat me because I am an old man?... Well, one body swap later and I am twice your size. Isn’t that fascinating?"
Realisation dawned upon Qie Xieling as he confronted the old king, who had cunningly swapped bodies with one of the men in the capsules. The odds were stacked against him, but his determination blazed within his eyes. With a surge of adrenaline, he prepared himself for another gruelling battle.
Qie Xieling’s muscles burned with exertion as he engaged in a fierce battle against the King. Each blow landed with bone-crushing force, causing his body to ache and protest. He was breathing heavily his mental capacity slowly getting depleted.
Despite his exceptional skills, he found himself outmatched, his opponent’s raw power overwhelming.
As the fight raged on, his body endured a relentless barrage of strikes, bruises forming like dark constellations across his flesh. Blood trickled from his split lip but it was only fueling his determination rather than dampening it. He refused to succumb to the pain, his indomitable spirit pushing him forward. If he failed then the consequences would be extreme.
He might have been determined but it took one more punch to take him down. Gasping for air his vision blurred, his eyes hazy from the onslaught. With every ounce of strength he could muster, he fought to rise from the ground, struggling against the grip of exhaustion overwhelming him. His mind raced his thoughts a chaotic symphony of survival and revenge.
The king’s powerful hands closed around his throat, squeezing the life from him. "Why? Why do you care so much about him? H-he would never do the same for you," said the king with a maniacal expression on his face. Qie Xieling didn’t reply. That was because he didn’t want to give this maniac any information to use against Luo Muchen. Just when he thought he might die the weight on his body was removed.
Startled, his fading consciousness caught a glimpse of Luo Muchen, engaging the king with a fury that matched his own. The world around him seemed to warp and distort as his ears rang, the sound of the battle reduced to a distant echo. With every shred of willpower he possessed, he fought against the encroaching darkness but he failed. He was soon knocked out cold.
The clash of fists and the thunderous impact of kicks continued in the background. Luo Muchen’s heart burned with fury as he faced his father. When he saw him strangle Qie Xieling he lost his mind. He wanted nothing more than to bury his father on the very ground they stood. The air crackled with tension as they stood in that weird room, their eyes locked in a battle of wills.
Without hesitation, Luo Muchen lunged forward, his movements fluid and precise. His fists became like thunderbolts, raining down upon his father with a force fueled by rage. Each strike landed with a bone-shattering impact as if he had transformed into a vengeful beast, heedless of the consequences.
The king was taken aback by Luo Muchen’s relentless onslaught. He defended himself with skill and strategy, but his son’s fury was unmatched.
Out of frustration, he yelled, "Muchen! I am your father!" but Luo Muchen ignored him and with a grunt, he pressed forward. Their bodies collided with a series of violent clashes, the sound of their blows echoing through the room.
Capsules with people in them shattered and splintered around them as the fight intensified. The room was filled with the acrid scent of spilt fluid and the metallic tang of blood.
