Chapter 399: Going on a date

What did it feel like he was their son who had come back from school who they left food for? Bo Ailun didn’t really want to walk over there and see things that he didn’t want to see so he placed the soy milk on the counter and said, "Captain, the soy milk is here. Should I bring it?"

Luo Muchen turned his head slightly and said, "No, thanks," before turning to Qie Xieling and asking, "Do you want some."

"Maybe later," replied Qie Xieling.

Bo Ailun who had travelled so far to get it, "???"

Still feeling weirded out he took out the rest of his breakfast and sat down to eat but his gaze kept shifting in their direction. Qie Xieling was watching something on his communicator and when he found something funny, he showed Luo Muchen and Luo Muchen would smile or chuckle softly.

Bo Ailun looked out to see if the sky was perhaps falling because Luo Muchen was acting way out of character that it was so concerning but he was more relaxed and less tense than usual.

"Captain, Valria said she will deliver the Svartalfheim at the end of the day," he said and Luo Muchen hummed in response.

Qie Xieling hearing the name Valria sneered and Luo Muchen didn’t need anyone to tell him that Qie Xieling was jealous. He stroked Qie Xieling’s hair as though reassuring him but Qie Xieling stubbornly refused to look at him.

Luo Muchen knew he was paying attention to him though he was looking at his communicator so he asked, "Do you want to go and visit some fun places in Rion?"

Qie Xieling glanced at him before asking, "This criminal-filled star has fun places to visit?"

Luo Muchen nodded his head. "I can take you if you want." Qie Xieling couldn’t help but think that other than brothels and bars what other places were there? Seeing that Luo Muchen really wanted to take him he agreed.

"What should I wear?" he asked and Luo Muchen glanced at him before saying,

"What you are wearing is fine."

Qie Xieling leaned in close with a sweet smile and whispered,

"Is it because you want to take it off of me later."

A loud clatter of cutlery falling to the ground filled the room drawing their attention. "Sorry sorry," said Bo Ailun while picking up what he had dropped. Qie Xieling gave Luo Muchen a fleeting kiss on his cheek before getting up.

Luo Muchen followed his retreating figure with his gaze only for him to meet Bo Ailun’s inquisitive gaze. Bo Ailun was now starting to suspect that his conjecture was wrong. It wasn’t Qie Xieling who was smitten but the captain. The way he was looking at him with a sparkle in his eyes it was basically game over for him. That was the face of a man in love who hadn’t realised it yet.

"What? Do you have something to say?" asked Luo Muchen seeing his expression change in such a short time.

"Ah no-nothing," he stammered unwilling to talk about it here.

Luo Muchen knew he was holding back but he didn’t push it. "Get the hover car ready," he said and Bo Ailun nodded his head.

Ten minutes later Luo Muchen and Qie Xieling were sitting side by side in the hover car with Bo Ailun feeling like the third wheel. These two knew how to abuse single dogs very well. It was both concerning and fascinating to watch them interact.

When they reached the mountains outside of the city the hover car descended before landing outside a cave entrance. Dust rose forming a cloud. The three of them exited the hovercar and in a place, Qie Xieling couldn’t see there were men guarding everywhere.

"You keep watch," said Luo Muchen. Bo Ailun was very uncomfortable letting the two of them go alone but what choice did he have?

Luo Muchen led Qie Xieling deep into the underground cave, their footsteps muffled by the soft earth beneath their boots. There was luminous light coming from small drones in the cave giving Qie Xieling some sort of reassurance.

As they carried on walking the air grew cooler and crisper, carrying with it a faint echo of distant water droplets. The flickering light from the drones danced upon the rough cave walls, casting eerie shadows that seemed to come alive in the darkness.

As they rounded a bend, the cave opened up into a vast chamber, its ceiling stretching high above them like a cathedral.

Qie Xieling’s eyes widened as they beheld the sight before them. The walls and ceiling of the chamber were adorned with delicate, butterfly-like creatures, their wings shimmering with a soft, ethereal glow. The creatures were a mesmerizing shade of purple, their radiance illuminating the cave and casting a magical hue upon everything they touched.

Qie Xieling gasped, a mixture of astonishment and awe escaping his lips. The butterflies fluttered about, disturbed by the presence of the newcomers, creating a symphony of gentle whirring wings. They flew in intricate patterns, weaving and dancing through the air, creating a spectacle that was both enchanting and hypnotic.

Luo Muchen watched Qie Xieling’s reaction, his heart swelling with an inexplicable feeling. When he brought him here he didn’t know what to expect. It was a place that was so special and hidden.

The only reason why he knew about it was because Valria had wanted to invite him here before but he rejected her. When he was hanging out with Qie Xieling earlier he just thought of this place and without thinking he offered. He had hoped this surprise would bring a smile to Qie Xieling’s face, and seeing how happy he was he knew it had exceeded his expectations.

"Isn’t it magnificent?" whispered Luo Muchen his voice filled with reverence.

Qie Xieling nodded, his eyes never leaving the mesmerizing display. "It’s... it’s beyond words. I’ve never seen anything like this before."

Luo Muchen reached out and gently took his hand, intertwining their fingers.

Together, they stepped closer to the centre of the chamber, feeling the soft flutter of the butterfly wings against their skin as they passed. The air was tinged with a faint, sweet fragrance, adding to the otherworldly ambience of the cave.
