Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 382: Love token
Maybe it was because he had stared too long but this shirtless young man with red skin approached him and called out, "Sir, would you like to come in? We have a lot of boys and girls to choose from. You can have a one-on-one session at half price or a group session at take three get one free."
Qie Xieling, "..."
Lee Ya who was still hooking Qie Xieling’s arm, "..."
Couldn’t he see her? Was she invisible or something? "Go away, he is taken," she said angrily as they carried on walking but this host wasn’t about to let this opportunity slip by. Business in Rion was tough.
"That’s okay. You can even invite the Mrs. We take in couples as well. We guarantee a night that you will never forget which would help with marital bliss."
Qie Xieling arched his brow finding this weird. This guy was either a good salesperson or a weirdo. Seeing him arch his brow the young man thought he had hooked his big fish.
"We can meet all kinds of fantasies too. We can be anyone you want," said the young man as he started changing his appearance to all sorts of different individuals.
Qie Xieling was so fascinated that he exclaimed, "Wohoo so you can change your appearance to anyone?"
"Yes. We meet all your fantasies whether it be your childhood crush, your mum or even your best friend, we can do it all. All we need is a picture of the person," he said and Qie Xieling was amazed. This was so unethical but profitable.
"So can you change your hei-," he said only for Uncle Jie to turn around and grab the young man’s neck.
He squeezed hard before commanding, "Get lost," through gritted teeth and shoved him to the ground.
Qie Xieling, "..."
He wasn’t done asking questions yet. He turned to Uncle Jie and complained, "I wasn’t done asking?" but the old man glared at him and continued walking.
While walking through the crowd Uncle Jie’s head Lee Ya asked, "Why are you so curious? Is there someone you like?"
Qie Xieling replied soon after, "What’s it to you?"
Lee Ya seemed really upset as she answered, "But I like you."
Qie Xieling didn’t beat around the bush. His response was, "I am sorry but I don’t like you like that. I hope you understand." That was the polite version of, "I don’t like you now get lost."
Lee Ya froze her watery eyes staring at him. Qie Xieling thought that he had finally made himself clear and she would leave him alone. Unfortunately, he severely underestimated Lee Ya. She clutched his arm even tighter and acted like she hadn’t heard him.
"Ohhhh look they have skewers. I am so hungry. Let’s go eat that," she said and Qie Xieling was at a loss. While she dragged him away Uncle Jie didn’t wait for him. He kept moving forward like he was alone.
Qie Xieling, "..."
He was about to scold Lee Ya and catch up with the old man when something caught his attention.
His eyes fixated on the Yin and Yang couple necklace displayed at the stall, memories of the past worlds and reality flooding back. He couldn’t resist the nostalgic pull.
"How much?" he asked the vendor, his voice tinged with a mix of longing and anxiety. The man quoted a price higher than he had anticipated, but it didn’t matter. Qie Xieling knew the significance of this gift outweighed any cost.
Lee Ya raised an eyebrow, a faint hint of surprise on her face. She couldn’t fathom why anyone would pay such a high price for a simple necklace. She was a spoilt princess for most of her life but even she wouldn’t buy that for that price.
Curiosity got the better of her, and she voiced her thoughts. "That’s quite a sum. Are you sure it’s worth it?"
With a gentle smile, Qie Xieling caressed the necklaces, his eyes full of unwavering conviction. "The person I like is worth it," he replied, his voice affectionate and filled with tenderness.
Lee Ya, "..."
She wanted to believe in the delusion that the person she was talking about was her but she wasn’t that stupid. Qie Xieling really liked someone but who was it? She was about to ask him when he transferred more than ninety per cent of all the money he had in his possession.
After that, he stopped at a meat stall and an ice cream stall before asking where Club 6 was. Lee Ya wanted to take him to other places shopping but she was no longer in the mood given what she knew. She followed after him buying things here and there.
Soon they reached the rooftop opposite Club 6 and Uncle Jie was standing there with an ice-cold expression like he was about to murder someone. Qie Xieling opened the bag of food that he brought and said, "I bought you something that would suit your tastes that’s why I took too long."
Uncle Jie, "..."
"I brought mild for you and spicy for me," he said unpacking the food bag.
"Who said I want your food?" said Uncle Jie the sourness in his throat overwhelming.
Qie Xieling chuckled softly before saying, "Aha, so it’s only my food that you don’t want. This means you are obviously hungry. Maybe I should ask Lee Ya to give you some of her food then."
Uncle Jie, "..."
He didn’t want Lee Ya’s food either but if he were to choose between the two he would pick Qie Xieling’s as he knew his tastes for some reason. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
He took the skewer from him and happened to notice a velvet box in Qie Xieling’s hand.
"What’s that?" he asked and Qie Xieling glanced at Lee Ya before whispering in Uncle Jie’s ear,
"It’s for the captain and me."
Uncle Jie, "..."
He wanted to believe him but he also couldn’t help but think, ’If he liked him so much why was he hiding it from Lee Ya? Why not answer openly and let her know that he liked someone else?’
"Why are you whispering then? Why not boldly declare who you bought it for?" asked Uncle Jie before taking a bite of the meat skewer in his hand.
Qie Xieling leaned in close and whispered again, "Because Lee Ya is his sister. I don’t want to upset him by upsetting her."
