Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 380: Holding hands
"Well you aren’t crying now but you were crying then. Why were you crying?" he asked hoping that Qie Xieling would open up to this persona but before Qie Xieling could answer Lee Ya showed up out of nowhere and hooked Qie Xieling’s arm.
"Lin Lin, let’s go. Today you will protect me while I shop in Rion. Ahhh, I can’t wait. We can go to the underground market and buy jewellery and rare forbidden food," she said and Qie Xieling felt goosebumps all over his body.
He knew Luo Muchen didn’t like him but he didn’t think Luo Muchen didn’t like him this much. Why pair him with Lee Ya of all people?
Uncle Jie thought the same thing. Why was Lee Ya paired with Qie Xieling so he asked, "Why him? Did the captain say so?"
Lee Ya proudly showed off the holographic projection on her communicator and said, "See, he is a part of my protection detail not that I have to explain myself." She dragged Qie Xieling to the spacecraft and as they walked away together hand in hand Uncle Jie clenched his fist his nails digging into his skin. He finally figured out who did it. He left Bo Ailun in charge and this was how he repaid him.
Unable to restrain his emotions he strode over and pulled Qie Xieling’s other arm while saying, "You will be late for briefing.
Lee Ya glared at that old man and she couldn’t help but grind her teeth in anger. She needed some time alone with Qie Xieling but it was always one interference after another. It was quite pissing off.
Qie Xieling stepped onto the spaceship and followed after Uncle Jie. He sat beside him and strapped himself in. The hum of the ship’s engines reverberated through his body making him feel a little anxious. He loved driving fast cars and fast motorcycles but he felt nervous for some reason.
He didn’t have a pleasant experience the last time when he joined the crew. It was like his first experience going into space so yes, he hated the feeling. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
Now he was about to experience the inverse so he was a little nervous. Across from them, Bo Ailun settled into his seat and when he met Uncle Jie’s fierce gaze he wanted to run away. Why was the captain mad at him now? He had done everything asked of him yet the captain wasn’t happy still.
The captain could go ahead and play dress up as a different person with no worry and he had to bear all the responsibilities.
Just as Qie Xieling was settling in, he noticed Lee Ya approaching them to sit next to him. "Lin Lin we will be sitting together. This is great. I brought snacks. Would you like some?" she said as she struggled with fastening her seatbelt. Qie Xieling wasn’t sure if she was pretending not to know how to fasten her seatbelt or if she was being genuine.
He hesitated for a moment, caught between wanting to help and not wanting to give Lee Ya the wrong impression. He knew that Luo Muchen and Lee Ya were on good terms so by extension he should care for her for now.
Swallowing his hesitation, Qie Xieling leaned forward and caught Bo Ailun’s attention. "Bobo, Lee Ya needs some assistance with her seatbelt. Would you mind helping her?" he asked, trying to keep his tone casual.
Bo Ailun nodded, understanding the situation. "I’ll take care of it and don’t call me that," he replied, giving Lee Ya a knowing smile before unfastening his seatbelt and turning to assist her.
Lee Ya who had been trying to get Qie Xieling to help her, "..."
She always thought any man would fall for her charms but it seemed they didn’t seem to work on Qie Xieling. Relieved, Qie Xieling watched as Bo Ailun helped Lee Ya secure her seatbelt. From now on he vowed to throw Bo Ailun under the bus and let him deal with Lee Ya on his behalf.
As he turned his attention back to his own seat, he noticed Uncle Jie struggling with his own seatbelt. Without hesitation, he reached out and offered his assistance, understanding that this old man’s eyesight might be bad.
The two men exchanged a brief glance with Qie Xieling carefully fastening the seat belt. "Old man, you should get the person who gave this to you to help you," he said and Uncle Jie almost rolled his eyes.
Qie Xieling didn’t take long to finish only for Lee Ya to complain. "Why didn’t you help me but you help the old man?" she said while pouting her lips.
Qie Xieling draped his arm around Uncle Jie’s shoulders and said. "I have to take care of the old. It is my duty."
Uncle Jie shoved him away and Qie Xieling chuckled lightly before whispering through gritted teeth, "Help me this once. She scares the hell out of me."
"I’m not a babysitter. You do it yourself," Uncle Jie snapped but he couldn’t help but wonder why Qie Xieling was terrified of Lee Ya. She wasn’t as threatening as most girls in the Coalition. When they like someone they go full stalker mode. He had had a few stalkers in his lifetime but his icy glare sent them running for their lives.
Lee Ya looked at the both of them and felt even more frustrated. Qie Xieling was really ignoring her.
She couldn’t believe her charm didn’t work.
The spacecraft lifted off and began its journey through the sky, the engine rumbling through the hull as it picked up speed. Qie Xieling nervously gripped his knee his entire body feeling unwell when he felt a hand on top of his. He glanced at Uncle Jie and for some reason felt safe like Luo Muchen was here with him. He held Uncle Jie’s hand for comfort his fingers entwined with his.
"Thank you," he whispered and Uncle Jie just stared at the floor.
When the ship reached cruising altitude, the engines were quieter and the ride smoother. Seeing this Lee Ya’s mood worsened.
