"Kiana, can you escort me?" Aurianna asked softly.
"Of course!!" Kiana chirped, her orange eyes lighting up with excitement as she quickly hopped to Aurianna’s side and lead her upstairs.
Meanwhile, downstairs, Peter leaned against the wall, arms folded, casting a brief glance at Juvin, who had a visible frown on his face.
"Hey, Juvin... some matters, we just don’t talk about them, alright?" Peter said in a low voice, trying to sound casual but firm.
"I don’t see why," Juvin shot back, his brows furrowed in frustration. "You know I dislike secretive behavior. And my gut... it’s telling me something is off about her. I genuinely just want to understand her."
Peter watched him for a moment, seeing the earnestness in his friend’s eyes. ’He’s being honest. I know he’s not lying,’ Peter thought with a sigh. He ran a hand through his hair, feeling a twinge of guilt.
"I... I should apologize," Juvin muttered, lowering his head.
"Yes! Let’s all go!" Elena clapped her hands together, her voice bursting with enthusiasm. "After that we can party together this evening!"
Everyone agreed with light laughter and they all climbed the stairs, their steps quick with excitement. But when they reached the room and pushed open the door... their smiles froze.
The room was empty. Aurianna and Kiana were nowhere to be seen.
"Eh? Where’s Aurianna and Kiana?" Zeche asked, even though his face was calm his eyes said other wise.
"They disappeared," Peter muttered grimly, his heart skipping a beat. Something felt very wrong.
"What is that?" Christopher pointed, eyes wide, as a small, swirling rainbow-colored rift shimmered in the middle of the room. It crackled softly, like a silent tear in reality. Without thinking, Christopher reached toward it, and the moment his fingertips brushed the rift, a powerful force yanked them all in.
Everything twisted.
And then they were somewhere else.
"Huh?! Where the hell are we?!" Elena gasped, stumbling backward. Around them stretched an endless gray wasteland. The air was heavy, suffocating.
"Did we teleport somewhere??" Zorian asked, cautiously looking around, his hand gripping the hilt of his sword which he pulled out of his space ring.
"What... how??!" Batholem stammered, his face pale.
Before they could gather their thoughts, a guttural snarl tore through the air. A massive beast, nearly nine feet tall, lumbered into view. The creature revealed itself with three ferocious and horrifying mouths, one on its face and two on its sides.
Its body was adorned with six eerie eyes, fixated on them, while its viscous rows of spiky teeth sent chills down their spine. To add to the terror, the creature possessed eight legs, each tipped with gleaming silver claws. And its blood-red eyes gleamed with murderous intent.
It was a Goigler.
"This strength—!! You guys, run!!!" Juvin shouted, panic breaking through his voice.
"Juvin, why are you panicking like that?!" Elena cried out, confused, but Juvin didn’t waste another second. He grabbed her arm tightly and sprinted, dragging her along.
"That monster isn’t something we can beat!" Peter barked, already moving.
"He’s right... even I’m trembling," Zorian thought, feeling his knees weaken despite himself. The Goigleir let out a deafening roar and charged, its heavy footsteps shaking the ground as it closed the distance between them.
"Are we in a dungeon?!" Shuwi cried, barely dodging a clawed hand that swung toward her.
Suddenly, a loud, familiar voice was heard.
"Whirling Waves!" Kiana’s voice rang out.
A flood of crystal-clear water erupted from thin air, forming a massive tidal wave that slammed into the Goigleir, sweeping it far across the gray wasteland. The beast screeched, tumbling backward, but even as the water evaporated into mist, it clawed its way back onto its feet, already resuming its relentless pursuit.
"What the hell are you guys doing here?!" Kiana shouted, appearing before them with a furious, disbelieving look.
"Kiana!!" they all called out, relief washing over them.
"We came to get you both in Aurianna’s room, but then we ended up here!!" Elena yelled, throwing her hands in the air in frustration.
Kiana’s face twisted into a mix of confusion and dread. ’Did Aurianna’s space... affect the real world? How’s that possible?!’ she thought, panic flashing in her eyes.
"Normally, no one is supposed to enter Aurianna’s domain without permission," Kiana said quickly, breathing heavily. "But... maybe... maybe because she trusts you guys... it triggered some kind of automatic pass."
"But it’s not safe! We have to find Aurianna to get you guys out of here!" Kiana yelled over her shoulder as she broke into a sprint. Without hesitation, the others followed behind her, their hearts hammering wildly in their chests.
"What is this place?" Batholem asked, his voice shaking as he glanced at the endless, bleak wasteland around them.
"I... I can’t really explain," Kiana said, biting her lip, her nerves showing for the first time.
"Kiana, your eyes!" Shuwi gasped, pointing.
The others turned, noticing it too—a strange white mark had appeared in Kiana’s irises, glowing faintly like a sigil.
"Yeah... without this, you’d be unable to revive if you die here," Kiana explained grimly. "That’s why we must find Aurianna or Lady Leila immediately."
"But first—" she turned around, glaring at the monstrous Goigleir that was rapidly gaining on them. "This monster!"
She snapped her fingers sharply. Instantly, dozens of water spikes formed around her. With a fierce cry, she launched them at the Goigleir. The spikes struck true, but instead of being wounded, the Goigleir absorbed the water effortlessly, its body pulsing ominously.
"Damn it!" Kiana cursed, her fists clenching in frustration as she turned and resumed running.
"You barely scratched it," Elena chuckled nervously, trying to lighten the mood, but her voice wavered.
"I fucking know that! Why don’t you try?!" Kiana snapped, her patience breaking under the pressure.
"This thing’s a level 700! I can’t do a damn thing to it!" Elena shouted back, continuing to sprint for her life.
Gritting her teeth, Kiana reached up, clutching the pearl necklace around her throat. "Maybe this’ll work. Mr. Aquarius!" she cried out.
The necklace glowed brightly, and a smooth, teasing voice answered, "Oh, Kiana, you’re back already? Took you long enough."
"Thank you Sir Aquarius, but we’re currently RUNNING FOR OUR LIVES!" Kiana screamed.
"Death shouldn’t be a problem for you, little one," Aquarius chuckled lazily.
