Chapter 29: Chapter 18: Hardcore Training {Skills}

[ What you’re holding is a Sniper Rifle.

A sniper rifle is a high-precision, long-range rifle (a gun which can shoot a long distance.) Requirements include accuracy, reliability, mobility, concealment, and optics that can spot the enemy from long distances.

It is a high accuracy weapon designed for shooting an enemy from a long range without missing and depends heavily upon on the user’s skill.

Your sniper rifle’s caliber can automatically change in size according to what target you want to kill. So just make sure to keep your finger on the trigger under the rifle and press it when you aim to hit your target. ]

Aurianna’s mind couldn’t help but do a double take. ’Wait a minute... I seem to be understanding the system’s explanation faster than before. Could it be that my intelligence has leveled up?’ she pondered, her gaze fixated on the screen.

"Is there a way I could run and snipe?" she asked, her voice tinged with excitement.

[ Yes, your Gun can change depending on the position you take. ] it assured her.

"I’m done messing around. It’s time to prove to Eva once and for all that I’m not useless!" Aurianna declared, determination radiating from her eyes.

Without wasting another moment, Aurianna leapt to her feet and dashed outside in a flash, and made a beeline for the spot where she had spotted those seven Adult stage Goiglers. With the sniper rifle firmly held in one hand, she zoomed past the trees ahead, and to her pleasant surprise, the weapon felt surprisingly light in her grasp.

Before her eyes, Aurianna spotted the Goiglers emerging in the clearing up ahead. A strange surge of adrenaline pumped through her veins, mingling with the nerves and fear that coursed through her body. Charging in with such audacity came with its fair share of risks, but she was fully prepared to face whatever consequences awaited her.

Without a moment’s hesitation, she leaped from a towering stone, her gaze locked onto the seven Goiglers. A strange radiance flickered in her eyes as a dazzling diamond-shaped pattern materialized within her pupils. In a split second, she unleashed her sniper skills, striking three of the Goiglers with flawlessl precision. The shots landed right in their heads, inflicting significant damage but failing to bring them down completely. Their cries of pain reverberated through the air, all eyes trained on the source of the attack—her.

The remaining Goiglers, alerted to her presence, swiftly shifted their attention toward her. Aurianna couldn’t be bothered. In a matter of moments, they raced toward her with blinding speed, closing the distance between them in mere seconds, ready to launch their assault, ready to pounce and strike. But she wasn’t about to make it an easy kill for them.

"Guncicles!" she shouted, her voice resounding through the air. Summoned by her command, the air around her crackled with energy, conjuring ten rows of guns that suspended in mid-air. Like a symphony of firepower, they began unleashing a barrage of icy icicles upon the charging beasts. The sharp projectiles struck true, inflicting further injuries upon the Goiglers.

But she wasn’t done yet. Aurianna’s command echoed once again, "Death Magic, Gunner’s Despair!" The air crackled with magic as ten rows of guns appeared in the sky, their barrels pointed toward the Goiglers. They unleashed a torrent of mystical dark bullets aimed directly at the beasts’ eyes, intensifying their injuries. Unable to heal as rapidly as Aurianna inflicted damage, the Goiglers found themselves in a precarious situation.

"Sniper Shot!" Aurianna let out a fierce battle cry, launching herself off her sniping position with lightning speed. Her sniper rifle was aimed directly at the heads of those Goiglers, and she fired off precise shots, taking down five of them in a satisfying row.

[ You have killed an Adult stage level 25 water Goigler, received 750 exp: water element absorbed. ]

[ You have killed an Adult stage level 29 fire Goigler, received 1,200 exp, bonus exp for killing a monster higher leveled than you: fire element absorbed. ]

[ You have killed an Adult stage level 20 earth Goigler, received 700 exp: earth element absorbed. ]

[ You have killed an Adult stage level 30 dark Goigler, received 2,000 exp, bonus for killing a monster higher leveled than you: dark element absorbed. ]

[ You have killed an Adult stage level 36 water Goigler, received 3,000 exp, bonus for killing a monster higher leveled than you: water element absorbed. ]

[ Received 8 skill points. ]

Aurianna’s heart was pounding, and she couldn’t help but pant heavily. She glanced at the screen in front of her, and a wave of joy washed over her. Her analysis had been spot on! The weak points of those Goiglers were their eyes, back, and forehead. By targeting those exact spots during the attack, she had dealt devastating blows. However, it seemed that her attacks didn’t affect the other two Goiglers, and unfortunately, they overwhelmed her, resulting in her being devoured.

"System, my stats," Aurianna spoke as soon as she regained consciousness, eager to assess her current situation and gather herself for the next challenge.

"My stats have increased once again," Aurianna chuckled to herself, realizing her body felt lighter than before.

[ Well, stats automatically increase as you level up, and you can also use skill points to increase your stats.]

"Ehhh, for real?" Aurianna asked with sparkly eyes at the screen before her.

[Yes]

"Then place all my skill points into charm," Aurianna declared.

[Umm, are you certain?]

"Stop being a sissy and place all of them into charm," Aurianna said.

[Skill points are very important (─.─||)]

Aurianna paused for a moment, contemplating her next move. "Wait, let’s put just 10 skill points into charm," she decided with a hint of excitement.

[Charm has now increased to 260.]

[You currently have 778 skill points remaining.]

Curiosity getting the better of her, Aurianna turned to the system for answers. "System, how do I measure up against the other Diamonds in terms of strength?" she inquired eagerly.

[To be honest, your battle skills are quite low compared to other Diamonds. At your age, some have already surpassed level 100.]

[However, due to the unique bond you share with your twin, you’ve been given a slight advantage. Your skills are progressing rapidly to catch up with your twin, hence the additional skill points you received.]

Aurianna couldn’t help but wonder aloud, "So, my twin and I actually share skill points?"

[Yes, that’s correct. Although I must admit, it might seem a bit unfair to the other white Diamond.]

Lost in her thoughts, Aurianna closed her eyes, contemplating her sister’s strength and their shared heritage. ’I wonder what she’s like. Is she similar to me? Does she have any knowledge of our true parents...?’ Her mind filled with curiosity and anticipation.

Just then, an announcement caught Aurianna’s attention, bringing her back to the present.

[The Diamond market is now open.]

[What would you like to purchase?]

Snapping out of her musings, Aurianna refocused her attention and posed a new question to the system. "By the way, are there any skills available to enhance my speed?" she inquired, eager to boost her agility on the battlefield.

In response, the system panel flashed, revealing a list of movement skills.

[Absolutely!]

Ding.

Aurianna’s eyes widened with excitement as she read through the descriptions of the various movement skills. Without hesitation, she made up her mind. "I’ll take them all!" she exclaimed eagerly. [With that decision, you’ve used up 155 skill points and acquired all the movement skills. You now have 623 skill points remaining.]

Eager to expand her repertoire of skills, Aurianna turned her attention to other domains. "Are there any more advanced gun, body, magic, and blade skills?" she inquired with anticipation. She was determined to explore every avenue available to her.

In response, the system chimed in. [Absolutely!]

Ding.

Aurianna’s eyes sparkled with excitement as she came across a new skill that caught her attention. "Multicast: 100 skill points, allowing me to cast more than three spells simultaneously? That sounds incredible!" she exclaimed with a hint of disappointment. "Hmm, it seems I can’t acquire all the skills I desire."

Taking a moment to reflect, she weighed her options and made her decision. "Alright then, I choose Magical Arsenal, Sharp Eyes, Improved Critical, Ace Kick, Rejuvenation, Illusory Reality, and Magical Resistance," she confidently declared.

With her choices made, the system swiftly updated her skill acquisition.

[ You’ve used 610 skill points, you’re left with 13 skill points. ] The system announced closing the old screen.

[ Congratulations! You have obtained Magical Arsenal, Sharp Eyes, Improved Critical, Ace Kick, Rejuvenation, Illusory Reality, and Magical Resistance. ]

She smiled confidently, "I think I’m prepared for another battle. Let’s do this."

Upon realizing her lack of strength to confront other Goiglers, Aurianna retreated into the depths of the forest, determined to face more spiders and monsters for combat. After enduring numerous intense battles, Aurianna’s perseverance paid off, propelling her to an impressive level 36 before returning to the domain of the Goiglers.

As Aurianna journeyed, her keen eyes caught sight of a towering hill, which she deemed perfect for scouting her adversaries. With utmost agility, she sprinted up the hill, although the ascending process took longer than anticipated, causing her to question whether it was more of a mountain peak than a mere hill.

Reaching the summit, Aurianna swiftly summoned her trusty Sniper Shot skill and gripped her rifle, employing its scope to meticulously survey the surroundings for any sign of enemies. Maintaining focus on the task at hand, she muttered, "Let’s check the quest."

In a timely fashion, the quest interface materialized before her, yet she cleverly ensured that her attention remained fixed through the rifle’s scope. In her peripheral vision, she glimpsed the quest details outlined as follows:

[ Quest ]

[ Defeat 50 Goiglers before leaving the training grounds. ]

[ 9 / 50 Goiglers defeated ]

From a distance, Aurianna’s sharp gaze detected the presence of four fully grown Goiglers and seven fledgling ones. However, her attention was soon captured by an intriguing discovery.

[ You have encountered a Death Harpy! ] the system chimed, prompting Aurianna to utilize her scope for a closer examination of this strange being.

In front of Aurianna stood an unusually tall and feminine being, surpassing the height of anything she had encountered before, perhaps even rivaling the stature of the white statue she had previously envisioned. This woman possessed long, flowing black hair and two horns emerging from the locations where her eyes should have resided. Her lower limbs resembled those of a bird, complete with sharp claws on her hands. Sprouting from her back were immense black wings, and her skin boasted a gray complexion. The only semblance of modesty came from the feathers adorning her feminine areas; otherwise, she would have been entirely exposed.

The system’s warning echoed in Aurianna’s ears:

[Enemy is too strong for you, please run away.]

[I advise you to retreat; the current enemy surpasses your capabilities].

Despite having already received this cautionary message, Aurianna’s body quivered uncontrollably, overwhelmed by the immense pressure emanating from the Death Harpy.

"How could something positioned so far away, at least two hundred meters, create such an overwhelming pressure?" Aurianna questioned, her thoughts racing. Suddenly, a strange and unsettling voice urged her to take her own life. Aurianna fiercely resisted the temptation to turn the gun upon herself, but it felt as though an invisible force had taken hold of her, manipulating her actions.

In a bewildering turn of events, Aurianna’s mind went blank, her consciousness fading away. Unknowingly, she mechanically spun her rifle around, succumbing to an irresistible compulsion, and pulled the trigger, causing a bullet to be shot into her own skull.

[You have been killed by a Death Harpy.]

"What the hell?!" Aurianna exclaimed, jolting up from the ground, her heart racing with surprise and alarm. The last memory she could recall was the disturbing notion of wanting to end her own life. Wait... she had actually taken her own life.
