Ruler's Awakening: Inheritor of the SSS-Rank Dimensional Talent-Chapter 203: Shadow Ruler First Match
Two matches had already taken place, and the third match was between Lewis and someone from the Sky Shield group.
From the right, Lewis walked with confidence. Aaron gave him a message through the telepathy of the original and clone body minds. He asked Lewis not to be arrogant.
Lewis turned his head after getting the message, then seemed to nod as he exchanged a brief glance with Aaron.
A man appeared from the left, wearing an all-blue outfit that showed his identity as a member of the Sky Shield group.
People began to stare at the third match. They remembered well that the Sky Shield group had passed one of its members to the main round, but it wasn’t the member who would now be fighting Lewis.
The match referee explained the rules of the match to them. Lewis listened, as did the man ahead of him.
They understood because the rules were simple: they would be declared defeated if they surrendered, or left the arena under any circumstances.
"Shadow Ruler? Is that a new group?" another audience member asked.
"It seems so. Look, they don’t even have their group uniforms yet," chimed in his fellow audience member.
Aaron turned to the surrounding area, there were two men walking around to make the situation more lively. They came up to Aaron and offered to see if he was interested in placing a bet.
"From what we got, 26 people are in favor of Niam, while 3 people are in favor of Lewis," the man replied, explaining the number of people who bet and who they kept their bets on.
"You can leave. I’m not in the mood for bets," Aaron pleaded, both men nodding no objection.
The bell rang, the third match began. Some people cheered for Niam to beat Lewis quickly. Sara and others supported Lewis by shouting loudly.
Aaron was silent, both hands folded with sharp eyes focused on the match. Niam, a 24-year-old man, had the basic element of wind.
He has been in the Sky Shield group since five months ago, the progress of his ability is quite amazing.
Currently, he was at Intermediate Sage. Aaron could tell because of the fluctuation of his magic aura which was weaker than Eloise’s. That way, Lewis could defeat Niam easily.

Aaron squinted, an ash light appeared at the tips of the two fingers of Niam’s right hand. The man pointed his hand at the floor, bringing up thousands of shadows of himself in a manifestation of condensed wind magic.
Lewis was surprised, he threw constant purple magic attacks at each shadow that attacked Niam. Niam smiled, no matter how much Lewis attacked her shadows, they would not run out before Niam finished with his sub talent.
"He’s in an unfavorable situation," Sara said.
Aerith glanced to the side and saw Aaron’s expression. Instead of being pressured, the man was smiling contentedly as if he was watching Lewis’ defeat. Aerith held Aaron, asking him what he thought of the match.
"From what I saw, he looked troubled against Niam’s thousand shadows," Aerith explained.
"It doesn’t matter, Lewis can handle it easily."
THUMP!
A loud thump sounded from the direction of the arena. The people who had been cheering for Niam’s skill fell silent as they watched Niam being pushed away by the impact of Lewis’ magic.
Niam fell to his knees, clutching his chest which felt tight after the impact. He glanced forward, watching Lewis burn away thousands of Niam’s shadows with terrifying purple flames.
"You haven’t used your talent yet. Why are you so powerful?" Niam asked.
Lewis strode steadily forward, each of his footsteps followed by a small fluctuation of magic under his feet. Aaron smiled, rising from his seat and standing to see the match more clearly.
"Lewis will end this third match," Aaron explained.
What Aaron said proved to be true, Lewis landed a purple flame attack forward in the form of a magic spear manipulation. Before the spear hit Niam, Niam was already scared and had goosebumps.
"I-I surrender!" said Niam, right before the tip of the purple spear blade struck his neck.
Lewis stopped his attack, smiling as he dispelled his purple magic manipulation. The match referee re-entered the arena, announcing loudly that Lewis was the winner of this match.
"The third match was won by Lewis of Shadow Ruler. Lewis advances to the next round," the referee explained.
Very few people applauded, because the crowd never expected their champion, Niam, to be defeated with a single attack.
Aaron applauded, as did the rest of the Shadow Rulers. Lewis stepped closer to the stands where Aaron was.
"Congratulations," Aaron said.
"Thank you," Lewis replied.
He sat near Aaron as he stared ahead, at the arena to watch the fourth match. There were 25 matches in total to be held this afternoon, Lewis had made it, leaving Karen yet to have her match.
"Where’s Karen?" Aaron asked Sara.
"She’s preparing in the participants’ room," said Sara.
"Don’t worry. She had a chance to train with us yesterday. Her skills have improved from what you remember," Mona said.
Aaron paused, then responded by clearing his throat in agreement. He sat back down in the stands and began to watch the other matches taking place.
The course of a match could vary from 15 minutes to half an hour. From the first match to the 12th match, the fastest match was the 7th match.
That match pitted the men of the Sword of Legend and the Northern Lion and was won by the participants of the Sword of Legend.
’He could be a troublesome opponent for Lewis or Karen,’ Aaron said.
Not long to wait, the 13th match was about to take place. From the left, Karen arrived in her casual suit, with her distinctive flame sword. Karen’s opponent was the man from Mighty Shark.
"Karen! Show us your best!" shouted Sara.
"Come on Karen! You can do it!" shouted Mona.
Karen heard the support, she glanced to the side and smiled as she nodded. Her eyes met briefly with Aaron’s, the man’s face smiling as he looked at her intently.
’I can’t betray Aaron’s trust in me,’ Karen said, excited.
The match referee began their fight. Karen immediately activated her flame sword talent, directing the swings of the sword towards the man from the Mighty Shark group.
Aaron was amazed. Karen’s attack movements were more efficient, the power of her sword swings were stronger, and the agility of her body had increased significantly.
With her current abilities, it was easy for her to defeat the people from the Rank Low group.
BLAST!
A small explosion was created when the man tried to block Karen’s cross sword swing. Karen jumped back quickly, not significantly affected. However, it was different with the man from Mighty Shark.
Although he managed to block the attack, Karen’s high power intensity made him take the damage from Karen’s attack. The man knelt down and clutched his chest, feeling tight and tired.
"Shadow Rulers are interesting. Two of their participants managed to injure pre-qualified people."
"After this, I want to find out more about the Shadow Ruler."
There was more applause than Lewis’ match. Some of them started supporting Karen because of the woman’s skill and beauty. Overly energized, Karen planned to end her match with a devastating flame sword strike.
Karen dropped the sword and let it fly with the help of her sub talent. Things turned bad for the man from Mighty Shark, whose only option was to withstand Karen’s attack and launch a counterattack that the woman might not have thought of.
The woman swung her hand forward, coating her flaming sword in a terrifying red aura. The image of a greatsword appeared and lunged towards the man, the man using defensive magic in the form of a water dome to block Karen’s attack.
"Destroy it!" declared Karen.
Cracks appeared in the water dome, shocking the man. In the end, the dome shattered into shards of glass as it failed to withstand Karen’s power. The man fell helplessly, clutching his head as he screamed.
"I SURRENDER!"
Karen’s flaming sword stalled, then faded away as the match referee entered the arena. The 13th match finished in 25 minutes, the match referee announced the winner of the match.
"The 13th match was won by Karen of Shadow Ruler. Karen advances to the next round," said the referee.
Karen could not contain her excitement. She jumped up happily and strode over to the stands, greeting Aaron and the others.
"I did it," Karen said, enthusiastically.
Aaron smiled and nodded, pleased with what Karen had accomplished, "Well done. That’s a good skill, Karen."
Karen stepped closer to the stands where Aaron and the others were. Sara and the others came to congratulate the woman, they praised Karen who managed to defeat someone from the same group rank.
"We’re going to rest for an hour. We’ll start again after the lunch break ends," explained the adjudicator, Aaron and the others nodded.
One by one, they began to walk away from the place. Just when Aaron and Shadow Ruler were outside the arena, they were intercepted by a group of casually dressed thugs. Aaron recognized them, they were the ones who collected the bet.
Lewis acted, clearly telling them that Shadow Ruler needed to leave. However, the group of thugs did not seem to be letting Shadow Ruler go easily.
"You have ruined our bet. Now, you must pay us back!"
