Rotting Land: Survive-Chapter 367 - 365: Frenzy
The atmosphere instantly turned tense, with Sang Biao’s gun-wielding right hand bulging with veins.
However, much to his surprise, Wei Dazhuang did not show much fear. Instead, after raising his eyebrows and glancing at him, he puffed out his chest, raised his head, and stepped forward without dodging, pressing his head tightly against the gun barrel.
"If you want to kill me, go ahead! Why all the nonsense! But I believe Boss Dai is a reasonable man, or else so many little brothers wouldn’t be willing to follow him! What I, Wei Dazhuang, did today might have been somewhat inappropriate, a bit impulsive! But in terms of morality, I’m not wrong. It’s your lackeys, Boss Dai, those bootlickers, who are useless besides pleasing you!"
"Damn! You bastard! Boss, just say the word, and I’ll shoot him right now!"
"Heh!" Out of nowhere, Dai Sha let out a chilling sneer, which made one’s skin crawl, and his rigid face made it hard to tell what he was thinking: "Go on... Tell me, why do you think my men are useless?"
Wei Dazhuang didn’t care anymore since things had come to this point. Begging for mercy was clearly not an option, so he might as well flip the table and take the chance to force a path through bloody violence.
"It’s simple, Boss Dai, why don’t you ask around and see if anyone speaks well of us? I followed you for a better life, but if things continue like this, hmph, this base will either be destroyed by your thugs or the people won’t stand the oppression and revolt to take it down! Of course, I know the latter is unlikely with the weapons you have. But I believe if you let your men run amok any longer, this base will soon be just you playing alone."
He pointed at Sang Biao in front of him, and the latter, provoked, almost pulled the trigger several times.
But in the end, he refrained because of Dai Sha’s presence behind him.
In contrast to Sang Biao’s rage, Scar grew more interested in Wei Dazhuang standing before him.
No surprise there, since after hearing enough flattery, encountering such a reckless idiot really seemed amusing to him.
So, instead of getting angry, he feigned ignorance and asked, "So... according to you, I should pamper those ingrates?"
"Not necessarily! You still need to give some hard knocks, but while establishing authority, you should mix kindness with intimidation. I believe giving these people small favors is more effective than fists and kicks. At least then, when you need manpower, you won’t be unable to find even a laborer! Moreover, you should set rules for your men; they can run rampant but not act recklessly, especially not like today, grabbing women in front of so many people! Hmph, I imagine you wouldn’t ruin this base for a woman, right, Boss Dai?"
"You bastard!"
"Slap!"
"Is it for you to lecture the boss!" With a gunstock, Sang Biao angrily struck Wei Dazhuang on the side of the neck.
Even though Wei Dazhuang’s years of labor had left him quite tough, under the full-strength attack from Sang Biao, he was utterly defenseless, especially since the strikes were aimed at the relatively fragile neck.
So, unsurprisingly, after a bout of pain, Wei Dazhuang crumbled to the ground, with a stream of hot blood gushing from his throat promptly.
Scar, however, seemed oblivious. He swirled the teacup by his side with interest, sipping twice. Whether it was the aroma of the tea or the excessive stimulation of the scene, he seemed slightly enraptured, humming softly before speaking faintly:
"I can’t tell you’re a blockhead, but you have a decent sense of the big picture! Fine~ get up, because you dared to speak the truth, I won’t hold you accountable today!"
Upon hearing this, Sang Biao was stunned. He couldn’t believe his ears, but as he was about to speak, Scar suddenly reversed and continued:
"However... just this once, never again! You better remember, in here, I’m the god! Whatever I want, I must have! Whether it’s women or anything else! So, if you play tricks with me again, I promise to make you wish you were dead!"
With that, Dai Sha waved his hand: "Get out!"
Wang Zhongyu sped along the highway in his Jeep Wrangler, the swift speed causing his bangs to flutter wildly.
Recalling the recent events, amidst the danger, his long-dormant heart felt the rush of excitement again.
Two vehicles traveled together, and under Wang Zhongyu’s somewhat fierce lead, the action squad returned quickly to the base unimpeded.
With their return, the personnel anxiously waiting in the main camp immediately stirred.
After all, the speed of the action squad’s driving was fast, yet they still returned much later than the original estimated time.
If not for the lack of extra vehicles and the need for someone to guard the base, the remaining soldiers would’ve likely long gone out to investigate the situation.
After the reunion, both sides exchanged brief courtesies before taking the supplies inside.
Once settled and having rested for a bit, Xu Renjie detailed the journey’s encounters to everyone.
Particularly the battle with the "Frenzy"; almost every survivor present showed a solemn expression.
Tang Xiaoquan sat silently in his seat, not having been on the scene, but through Xu Renjie’s account, he could still imagine the brutality of the confrontation.
Compared to the brutal fight, however, he was more concerned about the origins of the "Frenzy."
According to Xu Renjie, this "Frenzy" mutated from a "Pacer".
As for its attack mode, Xu Renjie provided a vivid explanation, likening it to a decapitated cobra still capable of attacking.
However, to Tang Xiaoquan, it didn’t seem like the case for the "Frenzy," given that even though a snake’s head is severed, its brain is intact, whereas the "Frenzy" had its entire head smashed by the action squad.
So how did the "Frenzy" manage to attack without a brain?
Tang Xiaoquan pondered over this, trying to find a plausible theoretical foundation from his knowledge base.
After thorough contemplation, he arrived at the desired answer... (To be continued. If you enjoy this story, you are welcome to vote for it on Qidian (qidian.com). Your support is my biggest motivation. Mobile users please read on m.qidian.com.)
