Rose Manor: Tycoon's Relentless Chase-Chapter 384 - 358: Let Me Go
Zhao Shunyi didn’t doubt her words. She looked at the castle in the distance under the night sky, its silhouette lit by lights, and it seemed like a beautiful dream. Imagining herself as the bride in this wedding, she would indeed be moved to tears, and might even cry multiple times!
Even if she didn’t put herself in Shen Jianian’s shoes, merely observing from a third-party perspective, she couldn’t help but get immersed in the moment. It was as if she had stumbled into a fantasy world, everything felt so ethereal and dreamy.
She hoped her future wedding would be like this too.
Zhao Shunyi accidentally voiced her thoughts, and Bai Changxia immediately chimed in: "You aren’t married yet, so you can still look forward to it. I even want to have another wedding!"
All because of Fu Jichen, he stirred up every girl’s fantasy about weddings at the venue.
Shen Jianian was pulled away by her friends, leaving Fu Jichen standing in place. He slid a hand into his pocket and touched the brocade box Shen Jianian had placed there earlier, a wedding gift from his uncle. He couldn’t help but smile gently and indulgently, feeling a sense of relief in his heart.
If he couldn’t clarify the issue with the Shen Family, today’s wedding feast might end in regret and sadness.
Thinking of this, the smile on Fu Jichen’s face gradually vanished, a flash of coldness passing through his eyes.
Throughout the wedding ceremony, Jianian had been fine. But after changing her outfit, her mood changed. He noticed she was unhappy and thought she might be tired, later guessing she didn’t like the wedding and banquet he had planned. Now he realized he was wrong. Someone had taken the opportunity, while she changed, to gossip in front of her, affecting her mood.
He was very curious about who this person was and what their motive might be.
The entanglements between the Shen Family, Pei Family, and Fu Family were known to very few. How did this person know?
Feeling gloomy, Fu Jichen instinctively took out a cigarette and held it in his lips, flipping open the metal lid of the lighter. After some thought, he decided not to light it, instead biting down hard on the filter.
No matter who this person was, he wouldn’t let them off.
Fu Jichen thought about it, took out his phone, and made a call.
In less than half an hour, the other party called back, saying they had retrieved the surveillance video and sent a screenshot to his email.
It was then that Fu Jichen found out who was causing trouble in the background and instructed his subordinates at home. He didn’t want that woman appearing in front of Shen Jianian again.
After making the arrangements, Fu Jichen removed the unlit cigarette from his lips and snapped it in half with his thumb. His gaze traveled afar, searching for Shen Jianian in the crowd. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
She was being pulled to dance by Bai Changxia, her golden dress shimmering under the lights. Shadows danced back and forth, blocking his view, preventing him from seeing her expression clearly.
Fu Jichen watched intently for a while, catching glimpses of her face occasionally. She seemed to be smiling, holding a glass of champagne. Her dance steps were haphazard, causing the liquid in the glass to spill with her movements.
What he loved most was her childlike innocence, purity, and carefree spirit. He hoped to hold onto such moments a little longer, longer still, ideally forever.
As midnight approached, the party was still in full swing, the atmosphere heating up instead of cooling down.
The scent of flowers and wine was overwhelming. Shen Jianian, drunk, returned to Fu Jichen’s side, unable to stand steady, leaning against him, her eyes narrowed into crescent moons.
Fu Jichen could tell she was genuinely happy now; she must have liked the wedding.
He undid his suit jacket with one hand and draped it over her bare shoulders: "The temperature’s a bit low, don’t catch a cold."
"I don’t want it, it’s too hot." Shen Jianian raised her hand to try and pull down the jacket, but Fu Jichen held her hand, rendering her immobile. She furrowed her brow, her voice soft, "Don’t you think it’s hotter tonight than this afternoon?"
Shen Jianian had been playing around with her friends for a while, sweat glistening on her fair neck, strands of hair sticking to her skin. Her lips glistened with a sheen of sweet wine.
"How much did you drink?" Fu Jichen laughed, a hint of helplessness in his eyes, "Don’t you know your own alcohol tolerance?"
Unable to remove the suit jacket, Shen Jianian simply gave up. Hot is hot, she thought, since she was already sweating. She gestured toward Fu Jichen, raising her thumb and pinky while the other three fingers curled: "Six glasses, maybe." She paused, then added, "But most of it spilled, it might not even be three full glasses. I’m not drunk."
