Chapter 276: Chapter 258: Expelled from the Fu Family

Fu Yuling hid in a friend’s villa for three days, anxious and unsettled for three days.

She couldn’t eat or sleep well.

From what she knew about Fu Jichen, he wouldn’t let her off. She decided to set him up, thinking that no matter what the outcome was after it happened, she would accept it. After all, they had shared intimacy, so it wasn’t like she got nothing out of it.

But now that things failed to go as she planned, her mindset was completely different.

Before, Fu Jichen didn’t care about their sibling bond, and now that she had done such a thing, he probably wouldn’t show leniency.

Every day, Fu Yuling locked herself in her room, letting her thoughts run wild; the more she thought, the more afraid she became, visibly growing haggard. She secretly used her friend’s phone to call the housemaid at the old residence, asking if there was any movement at home.

The maid didn’t know which aspect she was referring to, answering that everything else was fine, except Mr. Fu had caught a cold in the morning and had a high fever. They had a family doctor check on him, and Second and Third Master had come to visit.

Fu Yuling spoke with a tense voice, "Has my brother come back too?"

"Yes, he has returned," the maid said, "He’s still here, talking with Mr. Fu in the room."

Fu Yuling’s heart almost leaped out of her throat, calming herself, she asked, "Did he ask about me?"

"No," the maid replied, then as if remembering something, added, "Fourth Miss did mention you, wondering why she didn’t see you at home. I said you went on vacation with a friend, and she wasn’t too happy about it."

Fu Yuling bit her lip. "Fourth Miss" was her aunt, Fu Jianfang. Fu Jianfang, who was always fond of stirring trouble, even when there was nothing to stir up, probably saw she wasn’t home and used it as an excuse to pick faults. She would likely tell others that she was not being filial, having left to have fun while Mr. Fu was ill, not staying home to help take care of him.

That phone call didn’t last long, and Fu Yuling, holding the phone to her lips, paced back and forth in the room.

Could it be she was overthinking?

Maybe Fu Jichen, for the sake of face, didn’t want to blow the matter out of proportion and didn’t plan to hold her accountable.

Whether within the family or in the eyes of outsiders, they had a "sibling" relationship, and if he were to punish her, others would surely overthink it.

Fu Yuling deliberated for most of the day, and as night was about to fall, nervously returned to the old residence.

She wore a borrowed black dress, holding a chain bag, with an unmade-up face, not even bothering to cover her dark circles; she stepped into the home, face pale and uneasy.

The cook was preparing dinner, and only the maid was in the living room; Fu Yuling didn’t greet the maid and went straight to find Mr. Fu.

She knocked on the door and dutifully said, "Grandpa, it’s me."

Hearing Mr. Fu ask her to come in, she pushed open the door. Seeing no one else in the room, her raised heart settled back down.

Mr. Fu was leaning against the headboard, his aged face showing signs of illness, and he didn’t seem in good spirits. He wore reading glasses, looking at a vertically printed old book, with no visible emotion.

A chair was by the bed, unclear who had been seated there; Fu Yuling sat down, kept her legs together, put her hands on her knees, and maintained her obedient demeanor, "Grandpa, I’m sorry for not being here sooner to visit you. I went on vacation with a friend and only learned of your illness when I called the housemaid."

Mr. Fu closed the book, placing it by the pillow, and took off his glasses, pinching the bridge of his nose. His deep voice carried a hint of anger, "I know you like to have fun. I don’t expect much from you because of your poor health. It’s enough if you can keep your mother company. I never expected you to have such vile thoughts, playing tricks on your brother." 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢

Fu Yuling’s shoulders shivered, and her already pale face lost all color, her mouth opened in shock, unable to find the words to defend herself.

Fu Jichen had actually told their grandfather about the matter.

Mr. Fu looked at her coldly, his chest constricted with anger, "When did you find out?"

He referred to her and Fu Jichen’s lineage, a matter known only to Wei Ronghua. Three years ago, Wei Ronghua confronted him, and suddenly collapsed, diagnosed with lung cancer at the hospital, since focusing on her health instead of the issue. He had told Wei Ronghua, if she wished to keep her position as Fu Family’s Madam, she must keep this matter secret.

Even Fu Feibai didn’t know about this yet.

This morning, Fu Jichen came to visit and said he would send Fu Yuling abroad, to be closely monitored, never to set foot in the Fu Family again.

The abruptness was puzzling, so he asked why.

Fu Jichen was silent for a long time and didn’t explain much, only stating that Fu Yuling had impure thoughts and developed feelings for him.

Inwardly, he was shocked but understood that Fu Jichen would have a reason, not randomly wronging Fu Yuling, much less joking about something that tarnishes the family’s reputation.

He didn’t question what Fu Yuling had done, and agreed to Fu Jichen’s arrangement.

He didn’t even ask how Fu Jichen discovered his lineage.

Fu Yuling stood up, feeling cold all over, as if plunged into an ice cave, she kneeled down with a "thud", tears rolling down her face like beans, "Grandpa, I know I was wrong. I’ll never dare again, please believe, it was a momentary lapse..."

"Stop making excuses for yourself, having a momentary lapse wouldn’t make you develop such inappropriate feelings for your brother, you must have had intentions long ago." Mr. Fu coughed, pressing his chest, his face looked extremely displeased, not only disappointed, but also filled with disgust towards Fu Yuling, "Without the Fu Family, you’d be an orphan, not knowing where you would perish. The Fu Family provided for you, raised you to adulthood, and instead of gratitude, you had other plans. How can we tolerate you?"

Fu Yuling now knew fear; she realized what lay in store was exile from the Fu Family.

She had spent over thirty years as the proud daughter of the Fu Family, how could she bear the fall into being an ordinary person?

Crying, she shook her head, clutching Mr. Fu’s hand, begging, "Grandpa, I truly realize my mistake, please forgive me this one time, I promise to be obedient and do whatever you ask. Grandpa, don’t make me leave, I have no other family, you can’t treat me like this."

Mr. Fu withdrew his hand, as if even looking at her would contaminate his eyes, "Your brother said he will send you to the United States to reflect, never return again."

Fu Yuling collapsed, sitting on the ground weakly, muttering, "I don’t want to go to the United States, I don’t want to."

"You have no say in this." Mr. Fu, not wanting any twists and turns, made a decision on the spot, "Leave tonight, no need to pack, there will be arrangements there."

Fu Yuling’s face was soaked in tears, unwilling, continuously pleading with Mr. Fu, kowtowing in repentance, her forehead knocking against the floor with a dull thud, soon forming a bruise.

Mr. Fu was unmoved, pointing outside the door, "Get out! I don’t want to see you."

Fu Yuling shook her head, refusing to leave. She had thought being exiled from the Fu Family was the worst outcome, but they intended to imprison her in the United States, until death.

"Old Lei!" Mr. Fu called out.

The chauffeur, Old Lei, who drove specifically for Mr. Fu, opened the door, standing with hands by his side, ready for orders, "Mr. Fu, is there something you need?"

"Take two men, escort her to the airport now, buy a ticket to Los Angeles, send her there, contacts will be awaiting her arrival." Mr. Fu composed himself, "Once everything is settled, report back to the young master."

Old Lei asked no questions, grabbing Fu Yuling’s arm and pulling her up from the ground, as if dragging a sack, speaking politely, "Miss, you heard Mr. Fu’s orders, I hope you cooperate, don’t make it hard for me."

Fu Yuling, with a deathly pale face, twisted and struggled, "Let me go. Grandpa wouldn’t treat me like this, he’s just angry, things will be fine once he’s calmed down."

Old Lei, unaffected by her antics, sternly said, "Miss, if you continue like this, I’ll have to knock you out."

Only a grave, unforgivable mistake could make Mr. Fu decide to banish her to the United States, she couldn’t expect to live comfortably there ever again.

Fu Yuling gasped for breath, her chest heaving violently, "My heart doesn’t feel right, I can’t leave, do you hear me?! You’re just a servant, how can you treat me like this?"

Old Lei glanced at her, with no response, dragging her out the door, locking her in the car.

Before, everyone was willing to play along with her acting; any time she said her chest hurt, the house servants would scramble around her, overly anxious, fearing something would happen and be hard to explain.

Now no one cared, no matter how well she acted, it was no use.

Old Lei, seated in the driver’s seat, made a phone call, calling people over.

Before long, two tall, strong men boarded the car, sandwiching Fu Yuling on both sides, unable to move, terrified, she dared not make a sound, tears flowing silently.

Fu Jichen had a ruthless heart; how could he treat her like this? How was this different from being a prisoner?!
