Chapter 270: Chapter 252: Will You Help Me? (2)

"Hey, are you alright?" Shen Jianian turned back and pushed his shoulder. "What’s wrong with you?"

Fu Jichen leaned his head against the wall and looked up at the showerhead. "Turn it on."

Shen Jianian couldn’t understand his actions. "You want to take a shower?" In his current state, how could he wash himself? He couldn’t even stand steadily.

"Turn it on." He still said just those two words.

Shen Jianian couldn’t persuade him, so she turned on the shower and adjusted the water temperature for him. A hand came over, clasping hers, and directly switched the knob to the cold water side.

Fu Jichen struggled over and positioned himself directly under the shower, letting the cold water drench him.

Shen Jianian got splashed as well. She stood up and took a step back, looking at Fu Jichen. For a moment, she didn’t know whether to stay or leave.

The bandage on his arm was soaked through, blood seeping out, turning bright red. If she let him sit there and get drenched all night, something bad would definitely happen, right?

Shen Jianian was indecisive and thought about finding Aunt Cheng, but she must be asleep by now.

"Fu Jichen, get up." Shen Jianian turned off the shower and squatted down to support him.

He didn’t cooperate, and no matter how she tried, she couldn’t lift him up. Her slippers slipped, and she fell onto him, soaking her silk nightgown completely.

Shen Jianian was about to get up when Fu Jichen locked her waist and held her tightly, his kiss coming once more.

"No, you promised you wouldn’t..." Shen Jianian turned her head away. "Fu Jichen!"

Fu Jichen suddenly pushed her away, pressing his hand to his wounded spot, the pain causing him to grit his teeth involuntarily, blood gushing out. He looked away from her, his voice hoarse and restrained. "Get out! Get out!"

Shen Jianian dared not approach him again, stumbling out in a panic, losing her slippers, and ran out of the bathroom barefoot, leaning against the sofa, gasping for air.

She didn’t understand why Fu Jichen had become like this, as if possessed.

After calming down for a moment, Shen Jianian went to the dressing room to change into a new nightgown. The bed had been stained by Fu Jichen’s wet clothes. She found a clean set of sheets to replace them, clasped her hands together, and sat at the edge of the bed, occasionally glancing toward the bathroom, from which no sound emerged.

Fu Jichen was inside, so she doubted she would get any sleep tonight.

Time passed, minute by minute, unsure if half an hour or an hour had gone by; Shen Jianian felt her eyelids getting heavy, yet Fu Jichen still hadn’t come out.

Was he dead?

This thought shot through her mind, startling her, prompting her to check.

Fu Jichen was still in the same position as when she left, the bandage on his arm completely soaked with blood, showing no trace of white, only glaring red.

Shen Jianian gasped, silently lamenting that she owed him in a past life, as this life seemed to be one of constant torment by him. Her brows furrowed tightly as she reached out to tap his face. "Fu Jichen, wake up."

Fu Jichen slowly woke up, his vision clearer than before. He looked at Shen Jianian’s face, unsure if it was reality or a mirage.

Shen Jianian sighed with relief; it was easier to deal with him awake. "You’re bleeding a lot, and the wound needs to be redressed. You need to come out with me first."

Fu Jichen was soaking wet, his head lolling, looking fragile and helpless. "No strength."

Shen Jianian bit her lip, at a loss for solutions, and could only bend down to support him. The new nightgown she changed into was wet again. She helped him to the dressing room, found a set of his clothes in the wardrobe, and handed them to him along with a dry towel. "Can you change by yourself?"

Fu Jichen said nothing, weakly leaning against the glass cabinet meant for shoes.

Shen Jianian sighed, closed her eyes, and started unbuttoning his shirt, top to bottom, silently murmuring, paying off old debts of affection.

Fu Jichen’s eyes were lowered, lingering on her face. As he watched, the fire he had barely managed to extinguish seemed ready to ignite again. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

Shen Jianian finished unbuttoning his shirt and handed him the towel. "Wipe yourself off and change your clothes. I’ll wait outside."

She quickly left the dressing room, took the elevator downstairs to the living room, her heart pounding wildly.

Shen Jianian recalled the first-aid kit was in the TV cabinet, and she turned on a light, opened the drawers below the cabinet one by one, found the first-aid kit, and brought it to the third floor.

Fu Jichen had changed his clothes and was sitting on the sofa, half leaning against the armrest, still looking uncomfortable but slightly better than before. The bandage on his arm had been removed, exposing the wound entirely, appearing as if slashed by something sharp, with red flesh turned out, swollen at the edges from being soaked in cold water—quite shocking to behold.

Shen Jianian had never dealt with such a serious wound and didn’t know where to begin.

Fu Jichen opened his eyes slightly to glance at her. She was frowning and looking conflicted. Clearing his throat, he said, "Just wrap it with gauze for now. I’ll go to the hospital tomorrow."

Shen Jianian didn’t heed his suggestion, steadied herself, and found some hemostatic powder in the first-aid kit, sprinkled it on the wound, and wrapped it with several layers of gauze. "The other hand."

Fu Jichen extended his right hand, the palm scarred from when he grabbed broken glass—not as severe as the arm injury. Shen Jianian dabbed iodine on the wound with a cotton swab, wrapping it again with gauze.

Seeing that he didn’t seem as out of control anymore, she tentatively asked, "What exactly happened to you?"

The drug’s effects in Fu Jichen’s system were mostly wearing off. He could feel that the discomfort wasn’t as severe now, but it hadn’t disappeared completely. "I was set up, took some contaminated drugs."

Shen Jianian wanted to ask what kind of drugs would have such an effect, but recalling his earlier reactions, she suddenly had an epiphany, her face growing awkwardly embarrassed.

"Then you now..." Shen Jianian didn’t know how to phrase it. After a pause, she delicately asked, "Are you better?"

"No," Fu Jichen extended his left hand, clasping hers, letting her feel the heat in his palm, still very warm. "Will you help me?"
