Rogue Villain-Chapter 209: Trident Of Storms
"So, when are you going to let me try your trident?"
Ackster waited until Dala woke up. Since she was fine, he didn’t bother having someone drag her to a healing room. And thanks to how hard they had fought and trained together recently and the fact that Ackster won for the first time, no one else butted in, not even Dala’s family.
But Ackster wasn’t going to wait any longer after Dala woke up, so he spoke as soon as she came to. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
"What makes you think that offer is still valid after I’ve beaten the snot out of ya’ more times than you can count?"
"So you’re going back on your word?"
"I didn’t say that."
"Great. So, right now?"
"Ugh, seriously, where do you get all that energy from?"
Dala didn’t make any sounds of agreement. But she did get up after giving Ackster an irritated look. She picked up her trident and started walking without saying anything.
Still slightly traumatized by Bo’s training, Ackster was hesitant.
"You coming?"
"Of course!"
Ackster jumped up and caught up to Dala in a flash as she led the way.
Before long, Ackster and Dala arrived at a secluded beach. It was Dala’s private beach where she trained and lazed around when she wanted to be alone. It was also the perfect place for Ackster to try out the Trident of Storms.
Dala hadn’t displayed its full capabilities in their duel since they were comparing their techniques and not weapons. Their different mana training methods could be cause for unfairness, but that was made up for in time spent training. Different weapons, or rather, Dala having a great high-class weapon while Ackster used his fists, wasn’t as fair, especially if Dala relied on her weapon’s abilities instead of her own technical skill.
Ackster and Dala walked up to the shore, the water lapping against their ankles.
Although it was called the Trident of Storms, it was a weapon that could display most of its capabilities at sea.
"Here. Be careful not to break it."
"I won’t. Actually, I don’t even think I can? Isn’t this the legendary Trident of Storms?"
Ackster didn’t know what to think of Dala’s cautioning request. But she just shrugged at his question.
"Maybe. Are young going to just look at it, or are you going to play with it like a real man?"
"It feels like you’re a lot ruder now that you’ve lost."
Ackster spoke without looking at Dala. He focused on the sleek, silvery blue rod in his hands, and Dala could tell he wasn’t waiting for an answer, so she stayed quiet with a frown as she crossed her arms.
’So what? You only won because you don’t get tired, you monster.’
Ackster gaze crept up the handle, which, despite being smooth like porcelain, had a nice grip that held onto his hands like glue as long as he didn’t let go of his own will. The three prongs split from the rod at almost ninety degrees before pointing forward and creating the trident’s head.
The prongs had tiny barbs. The right prong had a barb on the right side. It was the same with the left, while the center prong had two barbs on either side. Other than that, even the head was smooth.
It was a simple-looking weapon that divulged more and more of its craftsmanship the more Ackster looked. But Ackster wasn’t here to admire the weapon’s craftsmanship. He was here to try it out.
Well, he wanted to get his hands on it more permanently, but that could come after he had tried it out.
Without delaying further, Ackster held up the trident, its three prongs pointing at the sky. He controlled his mana to flow through his arm and into the weapon.
It was the first time he had done something with his mana that wasn’t body reinforcement. But he had done that a lot and gotten used to controlling his mana. It also seemed like his mana wanted to enter the spear or like the spear was attracting his mana.
The three tips glowed with a light, a few hues darker than when Dala had zapped him.
Ackster closed his eyes and concentrated on letting his mana fill up the trident, not letting the lightning take off at once. Eventually, the light covered the entire trident’s head and started crawling down the handle.
Pressure emanated off the trident, the light so intense the surroundings darkened.
’I guess that’s enough.’
With a deep breath escaping his mouth, Ackster released the restraints he had put on his mana inside the trident and let the trident’s power free.
A lightning bolt as thick as Ackster’s leg shot off into the sky, crashing against the sky itself.
"Woah...!"
"..."
Dala’s mouth hung open as Ackster’s lightning bolt lingered long enough for dark storm clouds to gather and the wind to pick up. Ackster’s admiration was silent, but he was no less amazed. He knew the weapon had the potential to create powerful lightning, but he hadn’t expected to conjure a storm like that.
Even after the initial lightning bolt’s sparks faded and grey clouds overtook them, the storm showed no signs of slowing down or stopping its birth.
Ackster had called forth a storm.
"If you had used this, I don’t think I would have won."
Dala looked at Ackster with a still shocked expression. Her face froze before her mouth snapped shut.
"No shit. But I can’t conjure storms with it yet."
"Oh, really? You knew it could do that?"
Dala looked at Ackster as if he were stupid.
"Of course. It’s my family’s treasure, and its name is literally ’Trident of Storms.’ Apparently, it’s also called Stormcaller in some anecdotes."
"Cool."
Ackster admired the swirling clouds, the wind ruffling his short hair.
"But you’re telling me you didn’t know it did this?"
Ackster shook his head at Dala’s question.
"It makes sense. But I just wanted to fire off a big ass lightning bolt."
Dala huffed as she crossed her arms. She looked at Ackster out of the corner of her eye as she also faced the sky. She looked like she wanted to say something.
