Roadmap to the Boundless Sky-Chapter 210Book 3, : Ending His Life
The Iron Monster lowered the center of his gravity when the powerful attack struck him and made his mutated tissue contract to stop the saber from cutting into him further.
But Chen Chuan did not plan on killing the Iron Monster with this strike. He pulled the saber back, and before the Iron Monster could recover, he swung his blade again and again.
The broken bones and torn muscles could not be ignored, and the Iron Monster was unable to generate power or get into the right position. All he could do next was block Chen Chuan’s attacks, though even that was a struggle. As Chen Chuan rained down a series of slashes, more deep gashes appeared on the Iron Monster’s body. He grunted and fell back repeatedly.
Chen Chuan refused to relent. He continued swinging his saber when the Iron Monster finally snapped and released a powerful wave of refined force, which forced Chen Chuan to retreat to the edge of the area of their fight.
After stopping there, he flung his saber to discard all the tentacles, blood, and torn flesh on it.
The Iron Monster’s wounds healed quickly, with rapidly growing tentacles filling up the gashes. His shattered bones also fused together. In just a few breaths, he returned to health with not an injury on his body.
Chen Chuan remained calm. While the Iron Monster had managed to catch up to him in terms of speed and power, he no longer gave off the same pressure.
Martial artists had to achieve complete bodily coordination to fully unleash their speed and strength. If they only had power but not enough agility or were unable to control their body once they started moving quickly, they could not use their techniques. Right now, the Iron Monster had all of these flaws.
In other words, the additional tentacles and boost in strength weren’t beneficial for him. Instead, they were stumbling blocks.
Chen Chuan took a look at the tentacles. As a martial artist, the Iron Monster should know this as well, but there was also a possibility that the tentacles hadn’t appeared due to his own will.
Slowly, Chen Chuan directed the tip of the saber toward the Iron Monster. The wisps of steam from his skin and the white fog from his saber continued rising into the air.
Whether it was the Iron Monster’s choice or not had nothing to do with him. He just had to complete this mission, and then he could go back to Central City and receive lessons to become stronger.
This required getting rid of everything standing in his way.
With a swing of his saber, Chen Chuan charged forward. As his blade flashed, it clashed against the Iron Monster’s spear. A few rounds later, he felt the Iron Monster’s strength scattering. The man was starting to be unable to keep up with Chen Chuan’s speed.
Suddenly, he pulled his saber back and deflected the spear before delivering two swift slashes. While the Iron Monster was able to parry them, his stance was clearly disorganized. His center of gravity also tilted as he moved.
Chen Chuan generated refined force and thrust his saber forward to pierce into the hollow of one of the Iron Monster’s shoulders. The refined force shot through his tendons and bones, as if it was about to tear through the muscles and bones there.
The Iron Monster’s gaze changed, and he did his best to make the mutated tissue there contract. What little remained of the refined blood in his heart pumped outward to quickly heal the wounded area.
When Chen Chuan saw the Iron Monster gathering his refined force in the wounded shoulder, his gaze sharpened. He took a step back and swung the saber sharply to the side.
The attack was as fast as lightning, and it was executed when the Iron Monster couldn’t activate his mutated tissue. His spear-wielding arm was sliced cleanly off and flew into the air.
The Iron Monster stared at Chen Chuan with bloodshot eyes, as if he couldn’t feel anything. He snapped the whip and bound him with it, then tried dragging him over.
Chen Chuan spread his legs wide and lowered his center of gravity, rooting himself so firmly on the ground that he didn’t budge an inch. At the same time, he sucked in a deep breath, and his skin turned scalding hot.
He grabbed the whip and yanked at it until it turned into a straight line. Then, he pressed his saber against the whip and cut it in one swift motion.
Without even bothering to shake off the part around his body, Chen Chuan stomped on the ground and charged forward. In an instant, he arrived in front of the Iron Monster. With the momentum of his movement, he stabbed the Iron Monster’s belly, instantly piercing through the mutated tissue binding his stomach. The blade went through his organs and only stopped when it hit the spine.
While the attack didn’t manage to pierce cleanly through the Iron Monster, it made him stagger. Chen Chuan grabbed the severed whip and dragged the Iron Monster over before letting go of the saber and punching his torso. Then, he pulled him over again, turned to the side, and drove his elbow into the Iron Monster’s face.
Boom!
The attack was as loud as thunder, and countless cracks formed on the iron mask. The Iron Monster’s head tilted back as shattered teeth and fresh blood gushed out. He staggered backward.
After just a few steps, the refined force that had spilled into his torso exploded, and the firm muscles there tore apart. Even though the tentacles instinctively started to close the wounds and heal them, the Iron Monster’s recovery speed had become slower.
Chen Chuan’s gaze sharpened. Healing required refined blood, which meant that the Iron Monster’s refined blood and mental foundation were no longer able to heal his wounds.
Chen Chuan stepped forward, grabbed the Frost King Saber’s hilt, twisted it, and dragged it out.
The Iron Monster grunted at that, and Chen Chuan grabbed his arm before throwing him down on the ground. A cloud of dust and smoke burst out as a deep pit formed under the Iron Monster.
Blood gushed out of the Iron Monster’s mouth, and he tried to get back to his feet, but halfway through, Chen Chuan kicked him down and grabbed his remaining arm to lift him up in the air and throw him down on the ground again.
Bam!
Once again, the crash was so loud that it could compare to the rumbling of thunder.
The Iron Monster lay on the ground and struggled to get up, but Chen Chuan kept on slamming him down.
He did it repeatedly, and after the umpteenth time, the Iron Monster was no longer able to get up. His body was practically bloodless at this point. As if he had been soaking in water for a long period of time, his originally full and well-defined muscles had shriveled up, and only a thin layer of skin stuck to his bones. His eyes, too, had sunken.
The Iron Monster’s chest heaved as he struggled to breathe. Chen Chuan was standing above him and staring down at him. The rolling dust obstructed his vision, and the Iron Monster couldn’t see his face clearly.
Chen Chuan plunged the Frost King Saber into the ground and grabbed the short saber from his waist before kneeling down on one knee and putting the blade to the man’s neck. With his other hand, he grabbed the Iron Monster’s top knot and stared at him as he said, “Rest in peace.”
Then, with one sharp movement from his arm and a wet squelch, he felt the head he was holding grow lighter and stood up with it in his hand.
After resheathing the short saber, he brought the Iron Monster’s head to his eyes and removed the shattered mask. Beneath it was a swollen face covered in blood, but it wasn’t hard to tell that the man had been quite young.
Also, this face looks familiar...
While Chen Chuan was staring at it, the Iron Monster’s eyes suddenly rolled back, and a long, white thing shot out from his eyes straight toward Chen Chuan’s eyes.
When it was about to hit, Chen Chuan grabbed it with his other hand.
With his expression as calm as ever, Chen Chuan stared at the thing. It was covered in wrinkles and looked like an elongated brain. It was squirming nonstop, and the front section curled up when he squeezed it.
It was likely that this was the Iron Monster’s real self, the metamorphosed form of something that went through complete vitalization.
According to Tian Yu and Rao Qili, even if the bodies were destroyed, as long as the vitalized organ was alive, it could attach itself to a new body and survive. If the new body was at the same level as the one it originally inhabited, it could even quickly return the body to its original host’s level of strength.
But the vitalized organs themselves weren’t that strong. When faced with a martial artist who could fight at full power, they could do nothing else but ambush them.
Chen Chuan crushed the vitalized brain, and its tentacles and body exploded due to the refined force he sent into it. Once everything was reduced to tiny bits of flesh and blood, he scattered them on the ground.
Based on the information he read, crushing it was enough to deal with a vitalized entity. There was no need to do more, but to be safe, it was best to burn everything down to ashes. Still, his team members’ fights were more important, so he would much rather take care of those before doing this.
Chen Chuan tied the Iron Monster’s head to his waist. Then, after some thinking, picked up the mask and put it over his face. With that done, he went to the side, retrieved the Frost King Saber, grabbed the broken spear, and headed to the river.
The fighting was still ongoing there, but the four people by the river could tell based on the lack of sounds that Chen Chuan’s fight with the Iron Monster had ended. Due to the dust and plants obstructing their view, none of them knew who had won.
The two royally appointed warriors weren’t worried. They believed that their commandant was bound to win, so when Chen Chuan walked over and they saw the head at his waist, they were so shocked that their originally tight defense crumbled.
Not only was the Iron Monster their superior, but he was also their pillar of support. They had never even entertained the possibility that their invincible and peerless commandant could be defeated and beheaded.
The shock caused their biofields to rage like a thunderstorm. If Chen Chuan didn’t join the fight and they just continued fending off Yuan Qiuyuan and Qin Qingque’s attacks, they could drag things out, but there was no telling how long the fight would last.
But they didn’t.
Yuan Qiuyuan and Qin Qingque immediately found openings.
With a shout, Yuan Qiuyuan thrust his staff forward, making it move like a venomous dragon which broke through his opponent’s spear. When the tip rammed into his opponent’s forehead, his helmet exploded, and his head was thrown back.
“Hah!” 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Yuan Qiuyuan jumped up. While airborne, he lifted his staff up high and swung it down.
Bam!
The staff struck his opponent’s head, and blood gushed out of the royally appointed warrior’s eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. His skull where the staff landed had caved in, and he staggered for a little bit before falling backward.
Qin Qingque, too, let out a shout and thrust her spear forward. It let out a chilling flash as it pierced her opponent’s neck.
She held the spear with one hand for a moment before pulling it out, and the royally appointed warrior fell to his knees before plunging forward. Then, she twirled her spear, and as the red tassel danced in the air, she shook off all the blood on her spear before calmly putting the end of it on the ground.
