Road to be the Best Chess Player in the World!-Chapter 592: The Situation on the Other Table
Sheva smiled when he saw the two girls running over him enthusiastically, even doing a little race while still having an exhilarated expression on their faces.
"So, how is it? A draw again?" The boy asked knowingly. ๐๐๐ฆโฏ๐ธ๐ฆ๐๐๐๐ทโฏ๐.๐๐๐
Laysa was taken aback, blurting out a question, "How do you know that?" Anna also had the same question, even though she didnโt express it verbally.
In return, Sheva just snorted amusedly at them. "You both have this mild, cheerful mood here, something that is impossible if any of you won the game. If that happened, one of you would be sulking in front of me right now, while the other would be gloating mercilessly about it. Donโt think I donโt know you enough, okay?"
Both Laysa and Anna could feel their cheeks heat immediately, turning their head away in embarrassment. "Anyway!" Anna coughed, trying to change the topic here. "What about you? How long have you been waiting for us?" She asked.
"Me? Not long, just fifteen minutes ago." Sheva shrugged. "As for my resultโ"
"Wait, you mean to tell me that you won your game just in one hour and forty-five minutes?!" Laysa interrupted with eyes widened in surprise. The girl was so sure that Sheva won his game, and the one thing she was taken aback by was the time it took for him to do that.
"..." Sheva felt the corner of his lips twitching once at the sudden interruption, but in the end, he just nodded to confirm her guess. "Yup! It seems like my opponent is not in his best condition today, so he resigned just 25 moves. A bit disappointing, but I will not complain about getting free points and ratings out of nowhere like this." He shrugged nonchalantly, as if the boy was just telling the weather outside.
Indeed, in Shevaโs mind, that was how his game went. His opponent, the veteran GM from the Philippines, failed to put up a fight, crumbling under the immense pressure of his Dutch Defense. The man was prepared for the opening system, but not for the complicated middle game and endgame that followed.
In just 18 moves, Sheva had already forced to exchange his knight with the manโs rook, and later, he managed to even fork the opponentโs queen and bishop with a mere pawn! That was why the manโs mental crumbled instantly before resigning the game.
This time, though, it was the girls whose corners of their lips were twitching madly, too speechless to say anything here.
Sheva might say it casually, but that was because he was freaking Adrian Sheva, the most talented player the country had ever produced. His opponent was still a solid GM from the Philippines, and if it were any other player sitting in his shoes, both Anna and Medina believed that whoever it would be would never be able to defeat the man this easily.
"Yeah, fuck! Monster like Sheva sure is impossible for the opponents to handle. Poor all the participants in the menโs section, they must be suffering a lot, right?" The girls couldnโt help but think, shuddering a little as they imagined what it would be like to sit in that section just for them to wait for their turn to get executed.
Of course, there would still be some stubborn mules who believed that they possessed something to force at least a draw against Sheva. However, both girls believed that there should be no one who really had it to get anything but a defeat in this tournament.
"Nayaka is right, Sheva. Your presence here is so unfair." Laysa said again.
Sheva just shrugged, having already gotten used to getting the blame like this. It wasnโt his fault that he was too strong here. "Anyway, do you want to leave first or wait until the round finishes?" He asked, checking the sky outside from the small window on the wall.
It was almost dark already, and Sheva couldnโt help but cringe at the scene below, where so many cars formed a long line as they were all trapped in horrible traffic. This was a common scene during the hours all the workers went back home, but that didnโt mean he had to like it.
โYeah, letโs just wait for Bagas here first.โ He thought inwardly.
The girls couldnโt read his mind, but somehow, they also chose to stay. "Letโs watch the other games first. I want to see if there will be any other surprises in the womenโs section."
With that thought in mind, they went to the broadcast room, going straight to the sofa before accessing their phones immediately. Sheva also waved at Bagas for a moment, laughing secretly when he received a dagger stare from Nayaka there.
His attention shifted quickly, though, when Sheva heard the loud gasps from the girls.
"Sister Dita is up by +4.3 against Bathkuyag Munguntuul!" Laysa exclaimed in shock.
This news sent a jolt of thunder to both Anna and Sheva, as their eyes darted quickly to their own phone. Bagas, who saw the commotion, knew exactly what they were talking about, considering the broadcast also showed that particular game.
"It might look like Ditaโs position is in danger, considering how close Bathkuyagโs pieces are to her king. However, she doesnโt need to worry about it, because her defense fortress is impenetrable. If anything, she has to start thinking how to attack, because this is her chance to create another upset of the tournament!"
Sheva could hear the analysis that Master Irfan made, and honestly, he couldnโt agree more with it.
โShe faces the Caro-Kann system bravely, not falling into the typical drawish game. If anything, she manages to bait her opponent with a short castle, letting her opponent push that H pawn too far before starting to strike back from the F file. The queenside is also under her control, and soon after this, the battery of light bishop and the queen will break through her opponentโs weak fortress. Damn, she is good.โ
Sheva was more than impressed with the scene in front of him. He had never met Dita Karenza before, but honestly, assessing her performance in this tournament, the woman should be around Medinaโs level or even slightly better at this point.
"Girls, you know what?" Sheva suddenly spoke, gaining the attention of those two. "If you really want to get the first place, you have to pray on your luck, because I think she will not be stopped by anyone here."
