Rise of The Strongest Monarch-Chapter 53: The Half Breed [2]
All I can hear is sudden shouting, almost like it is coming from Amelia’s room. I hop out of bed and quickly run out my room, making my way towards hers.
It doesn’t take long for me to open up her door to see what is going on in here.
The room is completely empty... It is just her sitting up on the bed with her arms wrapped around her legs.
I walk over to make sure she’s okay, taking note of everything in the room. Nothing seems to be out of place either so it could just be a bad dream or something.
"You okay Amelia?" I ask softly.
She looks over at me with genuine terror in her eyes.
"I just have nightmares every so often," She answers while calming down.
"That is definitely something I know about. I have them myself," I say.
"I just keep seeing the-" She stops herself before saying anything else.
"What?" I question with confusion in my voice.
"Nothing. I appreciate you checking on me," Amelia responds as she gets out of bed.
I can’t expect her to tell me about the nightmare when we aren’t really that close yet. Maybe on day I’ll be able to hear about hers and she can hear about mine.
Will it even matter?
Having relationships with people doesn’t feel like it is very smart in a world like ours nowadays. My normal mindset is finally starting to come back from the beginning of it all.
Don’t let people get too close... Then I won’t end up getting hurt all over again.
I have a goal that I can’t stray from no matter what, that is more important. At least for now it is definitely what matters most to me.
"Anyway, I feel a lot better. We can practice a bit more," Amelia says with some excitement.
"That sounds like a good idea. Let’s set-up the dummies again," I reply.
So with that we go back out to the main room and she waits while I get the dummies set-up. This time around she might be able to take out more than one.
Like last time I move out of the way and watch from the distance.
Her eye begins to glow while some of the light goes down along her arm to form the bow again. It also is a bright brighter than the last time as well.
She fires off multiple arrows without wasting any time, each one hitting the targets without fail.
Pierce! Pierce!!
At this rate I don’t think any dummies will be around for us to use if she keeps practicing against them. Her power burns around the hole that they leave every single time.
Meaning that the person who gets hit is going to be in agony. Zierel probably won’t stand a chance when it comes to such a powerful weapon either.
Now if I can just figure out how to use my power... That would be perfect.
I look at each of the dummies to see where each shot hit.
Chest, Head, Head, Chest, and Lower abdomen.
Every one of them are fatal shots with exit wounds that would kill any normal person. All of them have the same burn marks as well which is interesting.
I look at Amelia and notice she doesn’t even look tired in the slightest now.
"This now is kind of easy to use now. I probably just need my body to adjust more to the use of this power," Amelia says while her eyes remain locked on the bow.
"I mean you are really good with it. Each shot is definitely fatal to human or zierel, I think this is some good practice," I reply with some enthusiasm.
Wriggle. Wriggle.
Wriggle.
My eyes shift towards the sight of my arm to see why she’s moving around so much all of a sudden.
"Honestly she could be the one to kill you," The woman speaks up with a serious tone.
I’m not really too concerned about that right now since we are on the same side. She doesn’t even have a reason to kill me either.
"That’s what you think. She is half light bearer and you have zierel coursing through you," she responds with concern in her voice.
Honestly it just sounds like you are panicking because of another light bearer, if anything this is a good thing for me. It means I’ll have someone strong next to me just in case shit gets worse.
I don’t know what it is like outside this city so having her until Airi can show up again... That is a big deal.
"Hopefully you are right," Her voice fades away.
The movement in my arm dies down as I look back up towards Amelia.
She put the bow away and the light around her is completely gone. It also seems like she is done for the time being, not that she looks tired.
"I think I’m good for now. I’ll be fine when we start to travel," Amelia says with confidence.
"That’s what matters," I reply.
Afterwards we both take a seat while we wait for Airi to return from the hunt. It feels like time is moving slowly for the first few hours... But then the door finally opens again.
The sound of footsteps inching towards us is all I can focus on until I hear her voice.
"I’m happy to see you both out here! It also looks like you have been busy," Airi says while taking notice of the dummies on the floor.
"I was learning how to use my power a bit," Amelia responds softly.
"She really can use the light like you Airi," I chime in with a little bit of excitement. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"That is great news. It gives me even more reasons to trust the two of you to start this journey on your own, or at least until I’m done with some personal stuff," Airi says with a smile.
Like last time she has more stuff to deal with before she can even join us. I don’t really know what to think about it since I already knew she wasn’t coming along yet.
It just feels odd when she is assigned to me or whatever.
I didn’t think she could just leave me on my own all the time, but it seems like it doesn’t matter after all. It’ll be fine either way.
