Rise of The Strongest Monarch-Chapter 48: Scars
Amelia gives me a hand with getting back to the church since I’m still quite exhausted after all the fighting. Luckily the walk back isn’t too bad, most of the zierel along this path are dead.
The ones from the courtyard died during Airi’s fight so they weren’t something to worry about either.
"I didn’t expect to be coming along with you, but I don’t think it is a bad thing," Amelia says while holding me up.
"Me too. I think it’ll be a good thing in the long run," I reply confidently.
"I did notice that you have zierel coursing through your blood though," Amelia says, a serious tone taking over instantly.
"At the start of things I got my arm torn open by one of them. I honestly think I should’ve died with my family that day but then I woke up in that place, the academy we were just at," I explain calmly.
We continue to walk as the silence around us grows.
"It is a miracle you haven’t turned into one. You are also killing them without any sort of issues as well, so maybe there is hope for you," Amelia responds with a casual tone coming back into her voice.
If she decided to kill me all of a sudden... I probably couldn’t do a thing about it with the strength I have. I fought all day without taking any breaks and then a hybrid on top of it all.
Death would be waiting for me.
"I want nothing more than to wipe out the zierel from the face of the planet. That’s been the goal since I found out about awakenings," I say with anger.
"We have a lot more in common than I thought," Amelia replies.
We reach the front of the church as she replies to me. It feels nice to see it again after being out all day.
But we make our way inside and close up the doors since nobody else should be coming in but Airi. The place is clean like always.
"It is quite spacious in here. I didn’t think anyone would be held up in here," Amelia says while looking around.
I take a seat on one of the chairs since I don’t need to walk very far.
"Originally I didn’t either. I do think it is quite safe here, at least I haven’t had any problems for the last few months," I respond with a calm tone.
"I just stayed wherever it felt best," She says before finally taking a seat in front of me.
Before I can speak she starts again.
"Do you have any scars along your arm from the day it got torn open?" Amelia asks with curiosity.
I roll up the sleeve to show her my left arm. Black veins and a giant scar going up my whole arm is all she can see.
"I have another one but it is from my own doing," I answer.
"Honestly that is a pretty cool battle scar to have," She says genuinely.
Looking down at my arm I can see everything repeating in my mind all over again but I cover it up.
"Just a reminder of what happened in my opinion," I reply, a bit of sadness creeping out from my voice.
"I know it probably isn’t a great memory but I think they would be happy to know you made it," Amelia says, trying to cheer me up.
She isn’t wrong, they probably are thinking that from wherever they are now. I hope they are watching when I deal with everything here once and for all.
I haven’t really figured out how to do that yet so it might take me some time. Maybe Airi can point me in the right direction or something close to it.
"I appreciate the effort," I reply with appreciation in my voice.
"You said you had another scar, a self inflicted one," She mentions. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
She jumps to different topics quick, not that I mind the change right now.
I lift up my shirt for her to see the scar on my chest from the dagger I used to tear it open.
"How the hell did you do that?" Amelia asks with a shocked tone.
"It is how I ended up awakening. I uh... Took my own heart out," I answer, a bit of nervousness showing in my voice.
"I’ve never heard of such a thing but I guess that’s quite a story for you to tell people," Amelia says with a bit of disbelief in her voice.
I can’t say I’m surprised that she didn’t believe it since nobody in their right mind would do that. Ripping out your own heart is basically suicide.
Luckily I won the gamble this time around which is why I’m still standing here today. Airi probably still thinks about that day since she came into the room to see me laying on the floor.
It all worked out in the end. I have aether’s sword now and I’m sure I’ll learn how to use the power eventually.
I just need to figure out how to access it... And how to find more of those memories. He did mention that it was the way to get stronger.
I’m also curious to know how he died at the end of the day.
Someone that strong who is put in charge of watching over the sun that keeps the human realm safe, yeah. That alone is enough to keep me interested in what happened with him.
Amelia doesn’t say anything else as the doors open up from the other side of the room.
I look over towards the direction to see Airi is back already. Her usual smile is on her face like nothing really happened.
"I took care of everything! We are all good for now," Airi shouts with happiness in her voice.
She has a bit more energy than I remember her having before I left earlier. Maybe what she had to do went well?
"Welcome back," I say with a smile.
