Rise of The Strongest Monarch-Chapter 46: A Helping Hand [1]
Thud. Clatter.
My body fully hits the ground and my sword falls next to me.
This isn’t the time for me to be on the ground, come on... I need to get up and fight back against this guy. I already did some damage to him so why can’t I do this?
I’ve been fighting all night... training with Airi for months and yet I’m still not strong enough.
She told me to stay away from the hybrids too.
My thoughts go quiet as a hand rests softly on my shoulder.
"You did well Liam. I’m sorry I took so long, I let you deal with my mess," A familiar voice says from besides me.
I can just barely move my head to see that Airi is kneeling down next to me, a smile on her face. She doesn’t seem to be upset with me in the slightest about the situation at hand.
"I...I tried," I manage to reply.
"Rest. I’ll handle the rest," Airi assures me as she stands up.
She walks past me with her sword instantly forming in her hand, not a single ounce of fear within her. The zierel ahead does look a bit unprepared for this now.
The wounds I inflicted must be a bit more than he originally expected to take from me in the first place.
It is still spilling onto the floor while he struggles to hold the scythe.
"Weren’t you expecting me?" Airi asks with a serious tone.
"Hahahaha. Of course! I just didn’t think the boy could do this kind of damage!" he laughs while responding.
"Underestimating my partner is never a good thing to do," Airi speaks calmly.
Before he can react I notice that Airi already took off one of his arms. The exact one holding the scythe is on the ground next to him now.
He doesn’t scream out because of the pain or anything, he just dashes back a couple of feet.
"Running away?" Airi asks curiously.
"I don’t think there’s a good enough reason for me to run away yet," He answers calmly.
Within a blink of an eye he is clashing with Airi once again, just like the day they fought at the church. He’s doing this all with one hand down.
Airi doesn’t look worried about it in the slightest either which is kind of insane.
I start to lose track of them as everything begins to get darker around me, at least until a sudden white light begins to glow next to me.
"Taking that hit for you definitely turned out to be the right call," Amelia says with a casual tone.
I don’t really have the strength to speak right now so I just give her a small nod.
"I’m healing whatever injuries you do have for now, just sit tight," Amelia instructs.
I can’t believe I lost sight of them both again but why didn’t he move like that against me? Did he just toy with me because he knew that I couldn’t keep up if he went that fast...?
Or maybe he did underestimate me which is why he didn’t expect me to land any attacks in the first place.
All of that makes the most sense to me.
He didn’t think I could fight at the same level as Airi and honestly he is right. The speed the two of them have is definitely far beyond what I can do.
Even Amelia is a bit faster than me, I just got lucky enough to get a bit against her.
"Learning more about that power could be the key to getting faster and stronger," The woman chimes in.
I’m glad you come around when I least expect it; you’ve been doing that a lot more recently, now that I think about it.
I do agree with that though, I need to learn how to use the power from this sword soon. It’ll be a big help with the fight against the zierel, especially if I can fight at the same speed as Airi.
"She isn’t human so I don’t know if you’ll catch up to her speed," She responds with a serious tone.
I think anything is possible at this point.
Even though I couldn’t see the fight anymore... I tilt my head to the left to see Tess still by the tree where I pushed her out of the way.
She just seems to be sitting there, waiting for someone to tell her what’s going on.
With her power I’d think she should already know what to do or where to go from here. Then again I don’t know how far she can see or how useful it can really be when she may not have any fighting experience.
"Having that kind of power is definitely a way to draw attention to yourself," The woman speaks with a bit of interest in her voice.
Exactly why it is better for her to keep low and away from me. I don’t need someone else dying when they get close to me, not again. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
My family was first so I don’t want someone else to meet the same fate.
"What about Airi? You two are pretty close," The woman mentions.
Airi is also way stronger than me so I don’t have a lot to sorry about with her. She can handle herself a lot better than I could ever do.
Tap. Tap.
I turn my attention back towards Amelia who is staring at me with a blank look in her eyes. Her face is still covered, surprisingly.
"How do you feel now?" Amelia asks with curiosity.
My body doesn’t feel like complete garbage anymore but I’m definitely still quite exhausted from the fighting overall today.
The blood loss is also still going to take a bit of a toll on me for awhile I’m sure.
"I feel alright but I’m definitely not able to fight anymore today," I answer while slowly sitting up.
Aether’s sword disappeared so it is probably back within my arm again.
Honestly it is surprising that it even stayed out as long as it did when I was reaching my limits during that fight. Hopefully it is enough for Airi to actually kill this bastard off this time without him getting away.
