Rise of The Strongest Monarch-Chapter 33: A New Feeling
Honestly I don’t know how to answer her... I didn’t really think about how to go about this when I got back. Originally it was all a gamble to begin with so I couldn’t really make a plan.
I think she’ll be upset regardless of what answer I give her in this predicament. All I can do is accept the consequences of my actions I guess.
"I’m sorry," I say genuinely.
She just lets out a sigh before standing up and wiping the tears from her cheeks.
"It’ll be okay. I think we should clean up this room for now," Airi replies while looking around the room.
I give her a nod before getting some stuff to help clean everything up.
An hour or two goes by and the room doesn’t look like a massacre happened in here anymore. Airi is still pretty upset with me but she also seems to be relieved that I’m alive.
The new feeling still hasn’t gone away either.
"It really is shocking that you made it back," She speaks up.
You always decide to talk to me when others are around so I have to speak like this. I’m kind of glad Airi can’t hear you or she’d be pretty pissed off about everything.
"I didn’t force you to do it. That decision is all on you," She replies.
I can’t really disagree because that is true. You just told me about something without the expectation that I’d actually do it.
Most humans probably wouldn’t do such a thing without a guarantee but I don’t want to waste opportunities here. That decision actually got me closer to getting stronger.
"Liam, what did you awaken?" Airi asks, breaking the silence in the room.
I look over towards Airi.
"Honestly I don’t really know how it works yet, but it should be pretty powerful," I answer calmly.
"I definitely notice the change in you since it happened but I’m not sure what it is either," Airi says while scratching her head.
The feeling is hard to describe since it isn’t anything painful like the infection and I don’t feel it moving around.
Looking down at my right arm I can see the shadow of something near my hand.
I wonder if this works like a way of recalling something. It is used in games sometimes for certain mechanics but I’ve never understood it much.
The most games I got to play were at my friend’s house since I didn’t play much at home.
Dad isn’t the biggest fan of games so it makes sense why I didn’t have a system.
I move past my thoughts and begin to focus on the image of the sword in my hand. It is faint but I can definitely feel it.
After a moment passes I can see it instantly form within my right hand. It looks exactly like the same sword from the memory... Every single thing is the same.
"Holy sh*t... That’s not something I expected someone to possess," Airi says in disbelief.
The power from the sword radiates up my arm and throughout my body for a moment before it suddenly disappears.
"I don’t really understand how to use it or how to keep it out for that matter," I say while not paying attention to what she said.
"Did you meet someone when you were out on the floor?" Airi asks with a serious look in her eyes.
"Just another light bearer but I don’t think he’s alive anymore. At least that’s what I’m coming to the conclusion of," I answer while scratching my chin.
Aether didn’t really tell me that he died or anything but it felt kind of obvious with the whole memory thing. I’m just wondering how he could have died if he is as powerful as he seems.
I probably just don’t understand how it works in the realm that the light bearers come from I guess.
They probably have some sort of system that differs from ours in a lot of ways. I’ll just have to ask Airi about it or maybe that guy if I see him again.
"That light bearer is dead so I don’t know how you could’ve seen him," Airi says while pacing around the room.
I got my answer without even trying to get it.
Aether is dead but now I’m curious about who killed him or how he died. That is the next question I need an answer to but I doubt Airi will give me that one.
She is just trying to put together how I met him or how I have his sword. It shouldn’t be that hard to put two and two together but it must be rare or something.
"Dead light bearers shouldn’t be able to lend you any power," The woman interrupts.
You really do know quite a lot more than you tend to tell me.
"Spoiling everything would be a waste. But that’s why she is having a hard time with this," The woman responds before disappearing again.
She’s coming and going a lot more than before which is weird. Nothing is normal in the slightest since I woke up from that dream.
Regardless I walk over to Airi and stop her from pacing around the room.
"Just calm down for a second. We’ll figure it out together," I say calmly with confidence.
She looks at me for a second before saying anything.
"You’re right," Airi replies while calming herself.
"I need to learn how to use this power now," I say with a serious tone.
"That is on you to learn since I didn’t help you awaken it. But I’ll show you how to use the sword when you can bring it out consistently enough," Airi replies with a small smile.
"I guess I have some time to figure this out then," I say while walking back to my bed.
Learning how to actually use this sword is going to take some time... Time that I don’t look forward to wasting. Zierel are growing in numbers as I sit around like this.
It would be a lot easier if light bearers could just wage a war against them and end it for us.
