Rise of the Lustful Evil Monarch (Re)-Chapter 530: A Precarious Situation
Third Person’s POV
Princess Arlene’s pupils had also dilated slightly under the pressure of the serpent’s vicious aura, and even she could not completely suppress the instinctive fear that arose from facing such a hideous and terrifying existence, whose presence alone felt suffocating and oppressive.
However, she did not allow even a trace of that fear to show on her face.
Her expression remained calm and composed, her posture steady as she continued to observe the situation with sharp and calculating eyes, while her gaze shifted subtly toward the tall, armored knight standing beside her, finally understanding with complete clarity why her father had insisted on sending this man along with her on this expedition.
He was not simply a guard, but was her shield, which would keep her safe from the jaws of death.
At the same time, Uncle Caspian moved swiftly and caught his unconscious grandson in his arms, just as the chain wrapped around the young man’s waist loosened and retracted back toward the armored knight’s weapon.
The young man’s body was completely limp as he had already fainted from the sheer terror of the encounter before even returning safely to the group.
However, there was an awkward detail on his figure that did not go unnoticed by the group’s eyes, as a clear wet patch had formed on his lower garments.
Even in such a tense and dangerous situation, the young maid could not help but let out a small, suppressed laugh, making the old face of Uncle Caspian turn green from humiliation and anger due to the humiliation his useless grandson had brought him in front of Princess Arlene.
The young mad tried to control that laugh, her lips twitching from effort as she looked at him, the absurdity of the moment momentarily easing the suffocating tension that had gripped the group.
But that fleeting relief did not last as the tall, armored man did not waste even a single moment in his retaliation.
His expression hardened, and in the very next instant, his body bent slightly at the waist before disappearing from his position entirely, shooting forward through the air like a released arrow.
His speed was so fast that it created a sharp gust of wind in his wake that scattered the surrounding frost and loose snow across the cavern floor.
At the same time, the serpent’s attention shifted fully toward him.
Its massive head turned, and its cold and predatory eyes locked onto the incoming threat as something within its gaze seemed to flicker.
Deep within its pupils, a faint black dragon seal flashed momentarily, and as it did, the beast’s aura changed.
It became more stable, more controlled, and even more dangerous than before as it prepared itself to face its foe.
The serpent pulled its enormous head back slightly before releasing a long, drawn-out hiss that echoed throughout the cavern.
And this was no ordinary sound as the hiss carried with it a strange and oppressive force that distorted the air itself and spread outward like an invisible wave.
The impact was immediate as the remaining members of the group felt their minds shake as the sound struck them, their balance breaking as they were forced to the ground, their senses momentarily dulled as the strange mental attack disrupted their souls and state of mind.
Even the armored knight was not spared.
As he charged forward at full speed, the hissing sound invaded his senses and disrupted his concentration just enough to throw off his control mid-flight, causing his body to tilt and crash heavily into the icy ground below.
However, his experience as a seasoned warrior was evident.
Even as he collided with the ground, he forced his mind to clear and broke free from the lingering effects of the attack, regaining his focus in an instant as he pushed himself back into position.
But by then, it was already too late, as the serpent had already made its next move.
Its jaws opened wide, and from within them, a torrent of freezing energy erupted outward in the form of a concentrated ice breath that shot directly toward the armored knight’s position.
Such was the sheer intensity of the ice breath that it caused the surrounding air to crackle and freeze.
Despite being on the receiving end of such a seamless series of attacks, the knight did not panic.
With precise timing, he struck his mace and activated the defensive spell inscribed upon it as a surge of icy energy burst forth from it and formed a thick dome of ice around his body, enclosing him completely within its protection.
It was the strongest defensive technique of his magical weapon and a trump card he did not use lightly, but to his dismay and disbelief, even that proved insufficient against the full force of the attack.
The ice breath collided with the dome with overwhelming power, engulfing it entirely as layer upon layer of frost spread across its surface, sealing it within a massive sphere of solid ice that formed almost instantly around him, rather than attempting to break it.
Inside the frozen sphere, the armored knight attempted to move as he tried to circulate his mana and break free from the encasement.
But to his growing horror, he realized that the freezing power of the attack was far stronger than he had anticipated, as the ice did not merely restrain his body physically, but also seeped into his internal flow of energy, slowing his mana and stiffening his movements to the point where even the slightest motion became difficult.
He was trapped, and he could not break free immediately.
Meanwhile, the serpent did not launch another attack.
Instead, its massive body shifted slowly as it began to slither forward, its enormous form gliding across the frozen ground with a steady and deliberate motion as it advanced toward the remaining four members of the group, who had been left vulnerable after being knocked down by the earlier attack.
The situation had not improved.
