Chapter 516: Journey Across Continents (14)

Third Person’s POV

For a fleeting moment, it seemed as though the fragile calm of the Sanctum tower would shatter under the collision of two Heaven Connection Realm beings losing control.

But it was at that point that a curtain of blood-red light manifested between them.

It appeared suddenly, like a veil drawn by unseen hands, separating Nyx and Isha with decisive force.

The barrier expanded outward in an instant and filled the entire room with a dim crimson glow that pulsed gently like a living heartbeat.

The oppressive tension softened, and the keening sound faded.

The red light carried both a calming and foreboding presence, suppressing the violent rise of the essences of light and darkness without any resistance or force, as Atheria showed the power of her domain.

Nyx’s grip loosened involuntarily, and Isha dropped lightly to the floor, though she steadied herself without stumbling.

Their breathing remained slightly uneven, but the overwhelming fury that had threatened to erupt dissipated under the influence of the crimson veil.

Their eyes slowly returned to normal, yet neither of them looked at the other.

Not even for a moment.

Meanwhile, Altheria pushed herself away from the large desk and flew lightly across the room, landing gracefully between the two dragonesses.

Her red eyes were fixed upon them with a frosty gaze, though beneath that cold exterior, there was also a clear trace of exasperation.

For a moment, she simply looked at them both, as if trying to measure how close they had come to turning the entire chamber into a battlefield.

"Is there even a single moment in time," she said finally, her voice carrying both irritation and weary disbelief,

"When the two of you can refrain from fighting over your private grievances and hidden tensions?"

Her crimson cloak shifted softly as she spread her hands in a helpless gesture.

"Can you both focus on the crux of the situation just for a moment and the real glarinf problem that is standing right before us?"

A faint, sad smile appeared on her lips as she said it, but the expression did not last long, as neither of the two dragonesses reacted to her words.

Altheria was a bit embarrassed by their nonchalance but she didn’t let it show on her face.

Isha’s cerulean eyes shifted toward her briefly, observing her from the side with quiet amusement, while Nyx did not even acknowledge the remark.

Her entire attention remained fixed on Ethan, as though nothing else in the room truly mattered.

Her hands glowed faintly with a dark, subdued light that she slowly and carefully ran them across Ethan’s body, hovering just above his skin as she searched for any irregularity or any loophole within the dark spider curse that had wrapped itself around his life force.

Her focus was absolute as she was trying to dissect the curse through pure perception.

Seeing this, Altheria’s expression softened slightly, and a quiet sigh escaped her lips.

In that moment, she could not help but admit to herself that Nyx’s earlier accusations on her and Isha that she had spoken in anger were not entirely without truth.

She had underestimated the situation and she had allowed events to unfold too freely.

"Nyx," Altheria said after a brief pause, her tone far more sincere than before.

"I know I made a mistake here."

Her voice was steady but was tinged with regret.

"And I am truly sorry for that mistake... the mistake that has led your disciple to this state."

Even as she said those words, Nyx did not respond.

Her golden eyes remained lowered, her hands still tracing faint arcs of dark light over Ethan’s chest and shoulders as she continued her silent diagnosis.

But the next sentence Altheria spoke changed everything.

"And I believe I know a way to resolve the death curse placed upon Ethan."

The moment those words left her mouth, Nyx’s head lifted sharply and her golden eyes locked onto Altheria with a mixture of shock and restrained hope that she made no effort to display openly.

For the past several minutes, she had been analyzing the curse herself while trying to understand its structure and searching desperately for a way to dismantle it.

But so far, she had found nothing.

Isha’s reaction was equally immediate.

Her white brows also furrowed in surprise as she stepped closer, her curiosity clearly awakened as even she had failed to discover a safe method to remove the curse without triggering its lethal backlash leading to Ethan’s death or severely damaging Ethan’s future cultivation.

"What is it, Altheria?" Nyx asked quickly, the usual cold restraint in her voice thinning slightly.

"If you truly have found a way..."

She paused for the briefest instant.

"...then I will forgive you completely, from the bottom of my heart. I will even owe you a life and death favor."

The promise was spoken without hesitation, yet Altheria did not react strongly to it.

She simply nodded once and then walking forward, she stood beside Nyx and reached out to gently caress Ethan’s head.

The moment her fingers touched him, a soft wave of blood red light spread outward from her palm.

The crimson glow flowed across his body like a living current, slipping beneath his skin and illuminating the hidden patterns of the curse.

As the energy spread, the dark veins beneath Ethan’s skin surfaced once more.

They crawled outward slowly and formed the grotesque shape of a spider across his chest and torso, its legs stretching through the network of veins that had embedded themselves deep within his body.

Isha moved closer as well and stood beside Altheria now, her expression attentive and thoughtful.

She showed no hesitation in approaching the master disciple duo despite Nyx’s earlier hostility as her curiosity outweighed everything else.

When the curse fully revealed itself, its true, grotesque form becoming visible like a living mark beneath Ethan’s skin, Altheria inhaled deeply.

Then she halted the flow of her mana and let the crimson light fade as she studied the spider-shaped curse in silence.
