Rise Of The Infinite Sovereign-Chapter 400: Promise Fulfilled
Chapter 400: Promise Fulfilled
"Hmm?"
Ezra watched as the puppet barged in, its eyes glowing red.
The puppet looked around, standing still for two minutes as it examined the room but not finding anything.
After two minutes it walked back out with Ezra tagging right behind it.
It then went back to its dormant state.
Moving a meter away from it, Ezra dispeled <Universal Concealment> and the seal lit up.
Instantly, the puppet moved into action, charging towards him.
Stepping back, Ezra activated <Universal Concealment>, avoiding the puppet.
Waiting for the seal to deactivate, he moved out of the three meter range and canceled <Universal Concealment>.
To his surprise, the puppet’s eyes lit up at the sight of him and charged towards him once more.
’Is this distance not far enough?’ thought Ezra as he quickly widened the distance by two more meters, but the puppet kept up the charge.
<Universal Concealment>
Going invisible, he watched as the puppet halted and, after a few seconds, it turned and walked to the front of the building it was guarding.
Once it was back in front of the building, Ezra took ten steps back, measuring an eight meter distance between him and the puppet before deactivating <Universal Concealment>.
To Ezra’s astonishment, the puppet was once again running towards him.
’Does it recognize me?’ he wondered, taking a drastic leap back until he was more than 10 meters away.
Zydrax chimed in at this point.
[Or rather, it’s just attacking anyone it sees]
That was unlikely as the puppet stopped moving upon Ezra creating a ten meter distance and went back to its post.
’Seems it’s going to attack anyone who enters within ten meters of it. But isn’t that too much?’ Ezra said.
[I think it’s because the procedures for this particular scenario weren’t programmed into it]
’What do you mean?’
[Those puppets have instructions programmed into them for two main scenarios] Zydrax explained.
[One, to enter battle mode and crush any opponents that gets within three meters of them, and two, to chase down anyone who steals the pills without defeating them first, but your case is different]
’I see’
[It’s very reasonable to assume that the Constellation who built this place didn’t program what to do in case the perpetrator was unidentified because he already put in arrangements to nullify all types of stealth] Zydrax continued.
[He probably could’ve never imagined that there would be a Transcendent with abilities that exceeded his]
Ezra chuckled.
[I wouldn’t imagined it either]
Ezra nodded, filling in the rest of the details.
’So, because there’s no programmed instructions for what just occurred, it’s improvising?’
[Exactly] Zydax replied.
[If we leave it like this, it’s probably going to chase the next person who passes by within ten meters of it and do so until it kills him]
Ezra shook his head imagining what that would look like.
’That would be terrible...’
Ezra’s thoughts halted as the image of a set of Dragons appeared in his mind, a wicked smile soon forming on his face.
’This...can’t I use this?’
Just as he pondered, Zydrax reaffirmed his suspicions.
[You can. You definitely can]
The response caused Ezra’s smile to widen.
Done with their tests, Ezra activated <Universal Concealment> and swiftly dispatched the puppet.
This time, after gluing the case to the description, Ezra sat inside the building in a lotus position to recover his energy and lay out a concrete plan of how he would cause trouble for that set of Dragons.
He’d promised to kill that Black Dragon asshole once he arrived in the secret realm, but Ezra also knew he had to be careful about how he went about it.
One, he didn’t know what kind of ability each one had.
If he used <Universal Concealment> to dispatch all of them and one of them was able to survive, he’d be put in a tough spot once it was reported to the higher-ups since the Nascents had seen him use such an ability and it was very likely that one of them sent them after him.
This would put him under a lot of suspicion, and even if they didn’t have evidence, they could simply fabricate it and use that as an excuse to attack the Red Dragon clan or extort them in other ways.
Beyond that, they could be gathered in a large group of up to fifty people, meaning Ezra would have to kill all fifty people.
Either way, if someone amongst them survived, he was bound to be suspected.
So, he had to make sure to leave no witnesses.
For this, he originally intended to wait until a day or two before the end of the two weeks period before striking as most large groups would’ve scattered, split between those who decided they had gained enough and those who were persistently looking for more.
But even if he succeeded, he then had another problem.
If he successfully killed them all while using <Universal Concealment>, he would have to hide them from being seen by others as their method of death would be too unique.
I mean, how many ways could one explain multiple rank five or even rank six Transcendents cut apart in one stroke? As that was what was very likely to happen.
Inevitably, their reasoning would lead them to suspect him, which was what he intended to avoid.
This now had a simple solution since he could simply use <Absolute Induction> to send their bodies into his universe.
But with this new piece of information he obtained about the puppets, the plan flipped entirely.
Working right, he wouldn’t have to do even half as much as he originally intended to kill them, making it far less stressful.
Oh, and Ezra had a hunch it would be far more fun.
He soon got up, having completed his rudimentary plan to cause trouble for a particular set of Black Dragons and plunder while at it.
Elsewhere...
The asshole Black Dragon suddenly felt a chill on his back and flinched, swiftly looking behind him for any threats.
"Anything wrong, Dekan?"
He turned back to his party and shook his head.
"No, nothing"
"Good, then let’s move faster"
Disregarding the strange chill, Dekan walked forward.
Around the same time, someone else was watching the back of his teammates.
Back at the hall where they had gathered, Ezra had placed a <Gatemark> on the Black Dragon asshole.
As described, <Gatemark> acted as a doorway, which meant it could be used to spy on the other side, like peeking through an open door.
Using it, Ezra affirmed that he was indeed with the majority of the same set of Dragons.
But as of the moment, he couldn’t utilize the <Gatemark> because he would bump into the others cluttered around him and Ezra wanted to avoid that at all costs.
For now they were lively, defeating puppet after puppet as a group with fluid teamwork.
This let Ezra take note of their abilities.
But it seemed they would be moving together for a long while, which meant they would be cluttered for that long.
As such, Ezra didn’t dilly-dally and also busied himself.
Clearing out the building, he raced forward for another five minutes before meeting other buildings in his path and cleared both of them out as well, totaling six pills acquired.
Done with that, Ezra checked on the asshole Black Dragon once more and was elated to see that he had separated from the group.
Nothing lay in his sights except for grassland!
Without hesitation, Ezra activated <Universal Concealment> and utilized <Gatemark> to appear from a spatial door in the Black Dragon’s body.
It was time to fulfill his promise.
On the other side, Dekan stood watching the grasslands as they were taking a short break before heading to the next building.
He separated from the group to savor the sights of the secret realm.
All of a sudden, he felt something weird happening to his body.
The frontal part of his body was obscured by some kind of plain dark material.
’Huh?!’
He sought to move his feet, but he couldn’t.
Then he felt his inside twist a bit as a foreign weight pressed on him before exiting, after which the dark material obscuring his body disappeared as well.
Taking deep breaths to process what just occurred, he found his vision spinning before suddenly appearing in an unknown place entirely.
He found himself floating in space above a galaxy.
’Am I hallucinating?’
Dekan couldn’t help but wonder at the sight.
That was also the last thing he ever saw.
On Ezra’s end, activating <Gatemark> while concealed, he exited on the other side and dispeled the gate mark on the Black Dragon asshole.
Right after, Ezra placed his hand on the Black Dragon and activated <Absolute Induction>, sending him into Ezra’s universe.
Done, he then placed another <Gatemark> on the soil, before activating <Gatekeeper> and entering his universe himself.
Entering his universe with <Universal Concealment> still active, he used <Sovereign’s Movement> to appear behind the Black Dragon and then...
*Sha*
Decapitate him.
Only then did he disable <Universal Concealment> and revealed his visage.
"I’ve fulfilled my promise" he said, looking at the headless body.
’Viprus’ he called.
<Yes, Ezra>
’Put this corpse somewhere to be eaten up by insects and worms’
Feeding Black Dragon blood or meat to people wasn’t something he would do.
Moreover, the Black Dragon’s space ring didn’t have any pills within.
Just as he’d seen through <Gatemark>, the leader amongst the Black Dragons was holding all the pills.
’They must trust him a lot’
Making the Dragon’s skin into a weapon was only asking for trouble, so it was better if it was given to insects to devour.
<Understood>
With that, Dekan’s body and head were dragged away by an intangible force.
Done with that, Ezra took a lotus posture and meditated to recover his energy.
Using so many skills while <Universal Concealment> was still active meant the energy expenditure was no joke.
He’d originally aimed to stay out of his universe for the duration of the secret realms opening, but Zydrax changed his thoughts, citing that his universe was within his soul, and therefore there should be no harm in doing so.
With the primary target dead, all that remained was to clean up the witnesses.
And Ezra had already planned how he would do that.
’They should be in disarray by now’
Using the <Gatemark> he left behind, he could faintly see them arguing with one another.
It was only natural.
The sudden disappearance of a rank five Transcendent should at least have this much impact.
’With this they will have to stay put for a while or move slowly’
Either one worked for Ezra.
Ezra intended to leave them alone for the next two to three days to give them time to grief and get off their tense state.
Once their guard was lowered and relief set in, he would strike.
Half an hour later, Ezra’s energy reserve was back to full capacity.
Concealing himself, Ezra used <Gatemark> to appear in the same grass patch he had abducted Dekan.
Not far off, he saw the Black Dragons huddled together as they gathered ideas on where their friend had suddenly disappeared to.
Nodding at the expected situation, Ezra raced off, making sure to move out of the sight of the Black Dragons before heading towards the buildings.
Setting his plans in motion, Ezra bypassed the puppet to enter the building and steal the pill, but stopped.
’I forgot to take glue from Orion’
Using <Gatekeeper>, he entered his universe and teleported straight into Black Sky.
Concealing himself, he grabbed several cases of glue off the shelves and exited the universe, appearing back in the building he left.
Since he couldn’t chip away parts of the puppets anymore to glue the pills and the descriptions together, he substituted it with glue from Orion.
In any case, now that he knew he could visit his universe even while in the secret realm, there was no need to use metal anymore.
Taking the pill, he cut off the top part of the stool with the description, swiftly leaving before the puppet barged in.
Getting out of the ten meter distance, he glued the box and stool head together and placed it in his space ring.
About to leave, Zydrax chimed in.
[Take the entire thing]
"Why?"
[That way it’s less suspicious]
Waiting for the puppet to exit the building, he went in again.
Looking at the headless stool, it indeed looked out of place.
Ezra nodded, placing the rest of the stool into his space ring, closing the door as he left and leaving a <Gatemark> as he did.
’I should make sure the doors are closed too’ he noted.
Done, he went for the next building and did the same thing.
Unlike he who was traveling deeper in and clearing out buildings in his path, the Black Dragons were clearing multiple buildings on the same line before heading forward.
By taking the treasure, the puppets would attack them once they got in a ten meter range with more ferocity than normal, only for them to defeat it and find that there was no treasure.
By the time this happened four to five times, they would be worn down with serious injuries or one of them would’ve died.
The more damage, the better.
