Rise Of The Infinite Sovereign-Chapter 386: Clan Leader
Chapter 386: Clan Leader
"Annoying Bastards. We’ll see how long you can keep being arrogant"
Evanol clicked his tongue, looking at the small blue chest in his arms.
As planned, he met up with Sidal at the Lis hub and received the astral elixir encased in a blue chest.
Right now, he was heading back to the clan base.
"Tch. Putting an astral elixir in a chest like this, who are they trying to show off to?" he muttered with disdain
When people naturally dislike something, they tend to make out the biggest flaws from the smallest things. Such as the fact they used a chest to present the elixir.
Reaching the clan base Evanol calmed his fury and hid the chest.
No matter what, there was no benefit in cluing others into their affairs.
With fast steps, Evanol heads to the chamber of his patron.
Being an area for cultivation, it was cordoned off from others. Only after a few minutes was he given permission to enter.
Seated on a throne at the top of a pyramid styled structure, her voice echoed the moment he entered.
"What is it?"
Vera hated being distracted while cultivating, so unnecessary disturbances were a big no.
"I have come to deliver that the astral elixir"
"Oh?" Vera’s interest was piqued. Remembering the encounter with Ezra. "Hmm, he kept his word"
Turning to face Evanol, she uses energy to lift the chest out of his hands and into hers.
Tapping the metal, she nods as the quality. It was the metal that hid the energy of items perfectly.
"Fine, let me see the source of that confidence of his"
With ridicule in her eyes, she easily dispels the locks and opens the box.
Upon doing so, purple wisps erupted into her face.
Taking a small sniff of this wisp, her eyes widened and her body shook, stiffening for a split second.
Her lazy and condescending gaze vanished as it was never there, replaced with a serious expression.
Slowly, she picks out the astral elixir within. Holsted within a small glass bottle, the purple liquid within let off a deep glow.
Instantly, Vera identified its rank.
’Top tier elixir’
With this realization, the gears of her brain churned, rapidly thinking up possibilities.
Eliminating most possibilities, she’s forced to acknowledge her lack of talent in the scheming, but thankfully, she had someone to help her in times like these.
’I guess I have to visit father earlier than I planned’
And while she didn’t know too much, she knew not to leave another who knew of the issue behind, so she hid the elixir, grabbed Evanol and flew to a residence located furthest in the base.
Ignoring the guards, she rushes in, leaving a bewildered Evanol at the door.
Inside was a man seated in the lotus position, cultivating.
With his back turned to them, his voice rings out, carrying with it a very tangible pressure.
"Vera. I hope you have a good reason for being so rude"
"I apologize. This matter could not be put off for later"
With that, the father turns around.
Dressed in plain light blue robes, he has no beard but long white hair lay neatly brushed atop his scalp and on his skin were multiple red scales to prove his dragon lineage.
Feeling Evanol’s presence right outside, he raises a brow.
"Could it be that you’ve finally decided to get married?"
She hurriedly shakes her head in dismay. "What? No father, it’s nothing like that"
"Hmm. Then what is it?"
"This"
With a wave of her hand, the astral elixir appeared.
Grabbing it, the man’s face turned serious.
"Where did you get this?"
"A mercenary sold it to me"
"What?"
In five minutes, she explains the situation.
"This mercenary is clever" he remarks. "Give me his contact"
Handing it to him, the man immediately dials it.
******
On the other end, Ezra had only finished stabilizing his cultivation when his communicator began ringing.
’Another unknown number’ Ezra observed. ’Let’s see who this is’
Accepting it, an unknown man’s face pops up on the other side.
"Hello?" Ezra said.
"Hello" the man nods. "Are you the mercenary Silver Star?"
"Yes I am"
"My daughter-" he says, moving the communicator to show Vera beside him. Which had Ezra surprised.
"-tells me you have more potions left to sell. Are they all top-tier quality?"
"You can confirm for yourself once you receive them" Ezra readily nods.
The old man was a bit taken back by his response. ’This fellow...is a bit rude’
Meanwhile, Ezra was having thoughts of his own.
’His daughter is the elder of the red dragon clan? Then he has to be someone of large standing as well’
"I see. How much do you plan to sell them?" the old man questioned.
"I’d rather not haggle prices. How much does the clan intend to pay for it?"
"Hmm" the old man made a contemplative expression.
He raises five fingers. "Fifty million"
Ezra nods. "Alright"
"Yes, I can...what?" the old man fell silent as Ezra’s words hit him.
"It’s a deal"
’He agreed so easily?’ the old man felt off by such easy negotiations, especially from a mercenary.
This Silver Star was surely no ordinary mercenary. For that reason, he thought he would surely try his best to squeeze as much money as possible.
Yet this fellow agreed so easily. What was he scheming? Was the elixir a fake?
Thinking this, the old man checks the elixir, confirming its authenticity.
Maybe he really wasn’t scheming anything...
Mentally shrugging, the old man went onto the next objective. "So, when can we expect the next elixir? You can be rest assured of timely payment"
"Ah..." Ezra made an exclamation. "You seem to be getting it wrong"
"What?"
"I don’t intend to sell top-tier astral elixirs for money, I already have more than enough. I’m selling this to you as a gift to commemorate the start of our relationship"
"Okay" the man replied slowly, his eyes cold. "So, what do you want?"
"Instead of money, I want resources or an item of equal value"
Thinking about it, Ezra realized that it was now stupid to sell the astral elixirs since he now had a steady stream of income from the council investments.
Once he reports his successful breakthrough to the fourth rank, they would increase the monthly amount once more.
In such a situation, was there really a need to sell top-tier astral elixirs?
The old man nods. This was reasonable.
"That can be arranged"
"Then, I want to register as a clan member"
At these words, the old man’s eyes widened in surprise. "You want to join the clan?"
"Yes" Ezra said plainly. "Preferably as an Elder. I presume this won’t be a problem?"
"Hmm..." The old man groaned. Thinking the sort of chaos this would cause, he could already see the other elders going hysterical and throwing fits.
"I will take it as the payment for this astral elixir"
Hearing this, the old man had no choice but to accept.
"Understood. Will you come over to make an official introduction?"
Ezra waved his hands. "No need. I will come once I’m ready"
"But" the old man turned cold. "I don’t understand. Why would you join our clan? Surely there are other clans that would agree to the same terms"
Ezra raised a brow, his expression turning just as cold. "Is that so? What are you implying?"
"No matter how I look at it, your motive for helping us is suspicious. I’m afraid I can’t be a trade partner with someone I can’t trust"
Ezra revealed a smile, staring at the old man, whilst inwardly, his brain churned.
’The clan must be in a pretty bad situation if I’m being suspected like this’ Ezra thought.
On second thought, it was obvious.
They offered fifty million for a top-tier astral elixir.
The council were ready to buy a normal astral elixir at a price beyond half of that.
When thought of deeper, it wouldn’t be surprising if they were dire straits financially.
"Tell me" he begins. "Don’t you think a struggling clan should be more grateful to me after receiving the elixir?"
"What are you trying to say?"
"If I intended to harm your clan, it wouldn’t take much and I certainly wouldn’t hand over a top-tier astral elixir because of it. So please, don’t insult me"
A strange silence followed Ezra’s words as the old man simply stared.
"Your words have spoiled my mood, so simply have your clan leader text me what your final decision is, and I implore you not to have any thoughts of holding the astral elixir without a price. It wouldn’t end well for the clan"
"I accept" the old man suddenly said.
???
"I accept your conditions"
"What do you mean you accept?" replied Ezra.
"It seems I forgot to introduce myself" spoke the old man, his expression neutral yet dignified.
"I am Asadon Kilzetin, Clan leader of the Red Dragon clan"
Ezra was slightly surprised, but his face did not show any change, looking at Vera standing behind him in silence as though she had become mute.
’What a turnout. She’s the daughter of the clan leader?’
Ezra felt it was incredulous. He never would’ve guessed.
The difference in vibe was too much!
Though looking at them closely, he could somewhat make out the resemblance...
Besides that, how did she forget to add such a detail to her introduction? Didn’t Zydrax say that what many higher beings loved to do to most is flaunting their relations?
Regardless, this turned out for the best. Having already conversed with the sect leader, things should go much more smoothly from now on.
Ezra nods, replying. "I look forward to working with you"
"Likewise" the clan leader answers. Throwing out another question. "Do you have any plans to visit the clan base at all?"
"Certainly. I intend to visit in due time. Till then, can I bother you to keep me updated with matters of the clan?"
"No problem"
