Chapter 745: Chapter 745. The Weak Landlord’s Heir

Amon and Wi Yin travelled to Mellow Depraved Town with a crew of around sixty people.

The members of Amon’s crew came and went. Some died. Some decided they wanted to try other things or joined other crews. Unlike the military in Aetheria, the cultivators in the lower realm, or at least in the Mercy Domain, lacked the discipline of a proper military organization. The denizens of this world were mostly opportunists with chaotic personalities. They did whatever they wanted. The only thing that kept them in line was their fear of the domain lord.

Hence, Amon didn’t bother to waste his time hammering discipline into them. He focused on his own personal development and used the crew members as expendable minions.

All crew members used their own equipment and tools. The faction didn’t supply them with anything aside from the red vest uniforms. All the faction did was arrange missions and provide rewards for completing the mission. Hence, if not for the red vest, the crew would be no different than a bandit rabble.

Even though Amon let everyone in his crew maintain the same freedom as they usually had, he still gave them a few rules that everyone in his crew must follow. One of these rules was that everyone must possess a flying tamed beast. This allowed the crew to move at roughly the same pace.

Riding their flying beasts, the crew arrived at Mellow Depraved Town in three days.

While Saintly Sin City was chaotic, Mellow Depraved Town was even more so. The town was more like a giant slum complex, with no sense of order to its layout. The map of the town Amon had bought before he left Saintly Sin City didn’t even look the same as the one before him. He didn’t know if the peddler had sold him the wrong map or if the cartographers of this world were criminally incompetent.

He threw away the map, flew up to sufficient elevation, and committed the layout of the town to his memory.

While the map was useless, it didn’t take him long to identify his destination. He saw a large farming complex on the Western edge of the town. The heir of Wi Zhuang’s mission owned the largest farm in this town, so the farming complex should be where they could find information about Wi Zhuang.

There was no barrier to protect the town like in Aetheria. The few town guards also didn’t bother them after seeing the red vest they wore.

The crew landed in front of a mansion within the farming complex. This mansion should be where the heir lived. The farm workers approached after seeing Amon’s group. These workers looked more like ruffians than farmhands.

One of these workers came out and asked, "What do you lot want?"

"We are looking for the master of this place, Jin Cheng," Amon answered. Jin Cheng was the name of the heir to this farming complex.

The farm workers started laughing after hearing the name.

"Hahaha. Jin Cheng is no longer the master of this place. This place is now under the management of Lu Men."

"Who among you is Lu Men?" Amon asked.

The door to the mansion opened then. A burly-looking man walked out. "I am Lu Men! Who is asking?"

"Enforcer Amon of the Mercy Faction," Amon answered.

"Mercy faction, ooh... Is that supposed to scare me?" Lu Men challenged.

"It depends," Amon returned. "Are you going to cause us trouble?"

"Hehe. You seem to be having trouble counting," Lu Men threatened. The number of farmhands that gathered around now exceeded a hundred people. Lu Men himself was a Peak Malicious Stage cultivator. He sensed that Amon was an Intermediate Malicious Stage. He figured Amon’s followers should only be on par with or weaker than Amon. He believed that his group had the number and power advantage.

"I can count just fine," Amon didn’t back down.

Wi Yin’s patient ran out. She yelled, "Where is my brother? Where is Wi Zhuang? I know he was here!"

"Who? Little lady. I have no idea who this Wi Zhuang is," Lu Men said playfully.

Amon narrowed his eyes. This man was clearly toying with them.

Lu Men probably noticed the change. He stopped teasing and said, "Hehe. Look. I truly have no idea about this Wi Zhuang fellow, but I heard you are looking for Jin Cheng. The loser is not here. If you want to find him, he should be in Layman’s Pisspot at this time, drinking his sorrow away."

"Layman’s Pisspot? I assume it is a tavern in this town. Where is it?" Amon asked.

"Do I look like a travel guide to you? Go and look for the bloody way yourself," Lu Men replied.

Amon stared at Lu Men hostilely but decided he was not worth the trouble. Plus, his instinct told him something fishy was afoot here. He refrained from getting into a confrontation before he had a better idea of what was going on.

He turned around and said, "Let’s go."

Wi Yin was unwilling, but she knew there was nothing she could do about it. She followed Amon.

It turned out Layman’s Pisspot was a well-known tavern in the town, so it didn’t take long for Amon to find where it was located. It was also not far from the farming complex, which was probably why Jin Cheng chose the place.

Amon asked his crew to wait outside the tavern while he and Wi Yin entered. Inside the tavern was even more chaotic than the outside. People yelling and cursing. Several groups were having fistfights. At one corner, Amon even spotted a corpse with bloody wounds. A few people were getting something to wrap the corpse before taking it away.

"Lovely place," Amon muttered and looked around. He had no idea what Jin Cheng looked like, so he shouted, "JIN CHEENNGGG...!!!"

Everyone stopped what they were doing and turned to the troublemaker, who shouted like a madman. Some wanted to teach the madman a lesson after making such a ruckus, but cancelled the intention after seeing the red vest worn by the madman.

Amon had his eyes on everyone. He was standing beside the entrance that allowed him to see the entire room. He also expanded his cultivation sense, monitoring every detail.

No one answered his call, but one person drew his attention. This person glanced at him after he shouted. The person then quickly ducked away as if he were afraid of being noticed.

"We found our man," Amon said. He walked over to the person of interest, who sat alone on a small table in the corner. On the table were many jugs of wine. His cultivation sense identified the man’s cultivation level as the Intermediate Diabolic Stage, which fit Jin Cheng’s profile.

"Jin Cheng?" Amon asked after arriving.

The person didn’t turn to him. His head remained low. He uttered, "I don’t know the person you are looking for. Go away! Do not disturb me."

Amon sat on the chair opposite the man. Wi Yin followed his lead and sat on another chair.

"We are Wi Zhuang’s friends, and we are looking for him," Amon informed. "His mission is to come here and aid you. We want to know where he is."

The man finally looked at Amon. There was a complicated expression on his face. He turned to Wi Yin before turning back to Amon again. He seemed to want to say something, but hesitated.

"Where is my brother?" Wi Yin asked. "Tell me where he is. I need to know that he is safe."

"... You are Wi Zhuang’s sister?" The man asked.

"So, you admit to being Jin Cheng," Amon said.

"I..." The complicated expression on Jin Cheng’s face seemed to clear. He appeared to have made a decision. He said, "It’s good that you have come. Something has happened, and Wi Zhuang is wounded. He needs your help."

"Where is he?" Wi Yin asked anxiously. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

"I hid him on my farm. Our enemies are still hunting us, so he must stay hidden," Jin Cheng answered.

"Take us to him!" Wi Yin demanded.

"Okay, okay. Wait here. Let me go and settle my debt with the tavern owner first. The owner is my friend. I want to speak with him before I leave," Jin Cheng stood up, but Amon stopped him.

"I have some questions before that. Aren’t you aware that your farm has been overrun by a bunch of bandits?"

"They were the assholes who wounded Wi Zhuang," Jin Cheng said.

"But you hid Wi Zhuang inside your farms? Under the enemy’s nose?" Amon asked.

"The place I hid him in is a secret underground place known only to me. They won’t know where to look."

"Hm, very well. Go. We will leave for your farm once you are ready," Amon said.

Amon watched as Jin Cheng disappeared through a door to the kitchen. After a while, he came back out. "Okay, I’m ready to go."

Outside, Jin Cheng saw Amon’s crew. He said, "You shouldn’t bring so many people. They will attract attention. Wi Zhuang is inside a secret storeroom. I can lead you there without being noticed, but not with so many people."

Amon called someone from his crew. He whispered something. Afterward, he announced, "I will go with Wi Yin. Wait for me here." He turned back to Jin Cheng and said, "Lead the way."
