Chapter 444: Chapter 444. He Has Arrived

"What’s so special about that incident?" Xei Gongzo asked.

"If it was any other cities, I wouldn’t have paid attention," Xei Nuli answered. "I know Changxiu City because there used to be rumors about life-extension fruits inside a forest near that city. I’ve sent bounty hunters to hunt for those fruits in the past but with no result. After discovering the forest was guarded by a higher mythical beast, no one was allowed into the forest anymore. The spirit beast who invaded Changxiu City one month ago was the higher mythical beast from that forest."

"Do you think this incident is connected to the promise the young man named Amon made?" Xei Gongzo asked.

"I don’t know," Xei Nuli answered. "Even if it is not, the forest with the tree is undefended now. I didn’t just rely on that man’s promise. I had sent a group of bounty hunters to the forest once I received the news. They should have arrived there by now. They will send me a message using the message talisman once they find the fruits. If there are such mythical fruits, those bounty hunters should find them by next week..."

"Mother, the rumors about those fruits are most likely false," Xei Wujia said.

"Even if the chance is slim, I want to take it!" Xei Nuli insisted.

Xei Gongzo signaled his son not to provoke his mother anymore. He softly said to her, "If you wish to wait one more week. Okay, we will wait."

"Thank you," Xei Nuli rested her head on Xei Gongzo’s shoulder.

Xei Wujia scoffed at the exchanges. He glanced at Xei Qing with contempt. He felt disgusted that he must still bear this useless dud for another week but decided to focus on the positive. After this one week, he no longer had to see that eyesore.

As he was fantasizing about this place without his cripple brother, he heard Li Mang come into the courtyard and announced, "Mistress, he has arrived!"

No one asked who Li Mang meant. Everyone in that courtyard knew who Xei Nuli was waiting for. Even so, everyone acted indifferent when Amon entered.

"You are late," Xei Nuli stated.

"Better late than never," Amon said. His voice was calm. Yet, he was secretly relieved to see that Xei Qing was still alive. Otherwise, this entire endeavor was wasted.

"You dare to come here after making the ridiculous promise?" Xei Wujia said while approaching Amon menacingly. He was flaunting his Intermediate Mystic Stage aura. He was still under the impression that Amon was a Transformation Stage cultivator. He had a grudge against Amon. Amon killed his favorite sex slave and humiliated him during the previous visit.

"Wujia...," Xei Nuli warned.

Xei Wujia acted like he didn’t hear the warning. He continued to threaten Amon. "You think you can just come to this place, tricking my mother with stupid promise, then come back and expect us to let you go? I don’t care if you are Echos Prince’s subordinate. I will teach you a lesson."

"Back off!" Amon exclaimed. He released his aura as well.

Xei Wujia was stopped by the pressure in his tracks. He could sense the pressure that assailed him was from the Beginning Mystic Stage. Yet, the aura was heavier than his despite having a higher cultivation. He found it difficult to breathe.

Both Xei Nuli and Xei Gongzo were surprised. They knew Amon’s true cultivation level. Even so, they were not worried because Xei Wujia’s cultivation level was still higher. But now that Amon released his aura, they understood Amon would win when it came to a raw power contest.

Amon walked past Xei Wujia without retracting his aura. Xei Wujia was lost in thought due to disbelief. By the time he could react again, Amon had walked past him.

Xei Wujia originally intended only to scare Amon using his stronger aura, but the unexpected reversal caused him to lose his temper. His hand shot at Amon to grab his shoulder while yelling, "You! Stop right there!!"

Amon sensed the incoming hand. He shifted to the side while at the same time, caught Xei Wujia’s arm. With a dexterous movement, he twisted Xei Wujia’s arm and placed him in an armlock.

"Ba–Bastard...! Release me!!" Xei Wujia exclaimed. He struggled to release himself but failed because Amon was pressing his pressure points. He was unable to channel his aether into his locked arm.

"Release my son!" Xei Gongzo blitzed in front of Amon. He was about to grab Amon’s hands clutching Xei Wujia’s arm, but found that Amon had released Xei Wujia and moved away.

This took Xei Gongzo aback. He was a Peak Spirit Stage cultivator. His movements were supposed to be imperceptible to someone at Amon’s level. Yet, Amon dodged his attempt at capture.

"Is this how the Xei Clan treats their guests?" Amon asked.

"Fuck you! How dare you attack me!" Xei Wujia exclaimed. A large glaive appeared in his hand. He was about to advance when heavy pressure fell on everyone in that courtyard.

"Enough!" Xei Nuli told everyone. "Wujia, get out of here."

"Mother! Do not get tricked by this asshole! He..."

"Get out! Now...!!!" Xei Nuli exclaimed. A strong wave hit Xei Wujia, and he was forced to tumble back a few steps.

When he regained his balance, he stared at his mother with a hurt expression. He glanced at Xei Qing before looking at Amon. His eyes were filled with hatred. These two men had turned his mother against him. He swore he would get back at them. He turned around and stomped his way out of there. His mouth never stopped cursing. Li Mang left the courtyard with him.

After Xei Wujia left, Xei Gongzo turned to Amon. His expression wasn’t friendly. "You are the one who promised my wife that you can bring something to prolong our son’s life? I warn you. If you don’t give us what you promised today, do not expect to leave this place alive."

"I dare to come here. That means I have fulfilled my promise," Amon said. His hand revealed a fruit with vibrant green skin.

"Is that...," Xei Nuli didn’t complete her words. She was hopeful after Amon showed up, but she had been restraining herself not to hope too much because she didn’t know if she could handle the disappointment.

Amon tossed the fruit at her, but Xei Gongzo caught it mid-flight. He studied the fruit and sensed its aura. He couldn’t deny that this fruit was indeed uncommon.

After ensuring no harmful substance was on the fruit, he offered it to his wife. Xei Nuli accepted the fruit. She also studied it carefully.

"Eating this fruit can prolong my son’s life?" Xei Nuli asked.

Amon nodded and answered, "This Longevity Fruit will give your son ten years, and he will be healthy again within those ten years."

Xei Nuli stared at Amon silently for some time. Amon returned her stare without blinking. Finally, she turned to Xei Qing and gave him the fruit. Xei Gongzo stayed near Amon. In case he tried anything funny.

At first, Xei Qing turned away. He had been longing for death and wasn’t willing to be fed this empty hope.

"Sweetheart, please take a bite... For mommy, okay...?" Xei Nuli pleaded.

Xei Qing continued to act stubbornly, but Xei Nuli didn’t give up. She patiently soothed him and continued persuading him. Only when Xei Qing saw her mother in tears did he comply. A tear also rolled down his cheek as he bit the fruit.

He had trouble biting using his fake teeth despite the fruit’s soft meat. He was too weak. He chewed the fruit with difficulty before swallowing it. Once he did, his expression changed. He looked at the half-eaten fruit with wonderment. His hands came up and took the fruit from his mother. He then gobbled the rest of the fruit with abandon.

By the time the fruit was gone, an evident change could be perceived in him. The wrinkles all over his skin had reduced considerably. His face was still covered in a thick white beard, but he no longer looked like someone in his nineties. Instead, he looked like someone in the fifties. His previously lethargic eyes now seemed alert. They were darting around as if seeing things for the first time.

He turned to his mother. The two looked at one another in a long silence until he uttered, "Mo... Mom... I... I feel great... I think I can stand up..."

He grabbed the arms of his wheelchair and pushed himself up. He was wobbly when he rose, which prompted Xei Nuli to come to him. He put a hand at her, telling her to stop. "I... Let me stand by myself," he said.

Slowly, he left his wheelchair. His legs were trembling as he stood. When he let go of the wheelchair, he looked like he was about to stumble, but he managed to balance himself. He stood still until his trembling was gone.

He started walking. Not long after, he started running. He shouted excitedly while running, like a small child who just received a new toy. "I am healthy! I can walk! I can run...! Hell, yeah!! I am healthy...!!!"

Xei Nuli and Xei Gongzo watched with open mouths. They weren’t sure what they were feeling. It was a mixture of happiness, disbelief, relief, awe, and bewilderment.

While they were confused by their mixed feelings, they heard Amon say, "Now, can we talk about our business?"
