Philip met with the first refugee that came there.

He is kind of surprised by the person he saw. It is a young boy. He didn't even awaken yet. It is practically impossible for a kid like him to come there. After all, even though the vegetation is gone, the beasts are still there within the radius around the city.

These beasts are currently starving since most of them gain vitality from eating their prey.

The more the death energy sucks their energy out. The more dangerous they will become. They must have already started eating each other and for a young boy to make his way this far that too in just a few days. It is an impossible task.

"Who are you kid? How did you get here?"

Philip asked as he looked around. He ordered some of the Dusk members to scout the surrounding areas.

"I am Vynk. I came here by myself as a refugee."

"You came here alone?"

"Yes. When you said you will offer refugee to the people that come to you, I tried to hitch a ride to this place from different merchants. I hitched a ride from a few people and was dropped a dozen miles away from this spot yesterday."

"You didn't even awaken. Why would you risk that? You could have been sold off as a slave."

"I know good people from bad people. I know every merchant that came to the Dark Lightning city and I know who to trust and who not to trust. I spent most of my time acting as cup bearer for rich merchants in the Luxury inn of that city.

So, I asked some of their help to get here."

"What about your parents?"

"Dead."

"So, you are an orphan?"

"Yes. I am. One of the rare ones that survived. Generally, all the orphans are taken away by Dark Lightning Organization to somewhere else. I managed to get lucky."

Philip is surprised. He is kind of impressed by the kid and how decisive he is. He couldn't understand what to call this kid's nature. Whether he is smart, mature or sharp. But he is really impressive. That part is all he knows.

"Why would you come this far? I thought one of the rules to be a resident of the city and the rest of Dark Lightning Organization's territory is actually be a devout follower of Zeus.

Don't they have some laws up there?"

"They do. But not every rule is successfully established everywhere. There is always a loophole."

Philip couldn't help but take another look at the kid once again. He is a teenage boy with tanned skin and extremely dark brown hair. He had a well-built body for his age. His body language shows that he is confident and straightforward.

Philip liked him at first glance."

"So, why did you come this far? If you knew the merchants as you said, you could have gone to any other territories and survived. Since you are familiar with the lands and people, you would have a much easier time there.

We are practically aliens to you guys. You shouldn't be trusting us more than them."

"Unfortunately, I do trust you guys more than the rest of the cities. All the cities in this planet and in this realm area actually ruled by some religious nuts.

I believe people. Not so much in gods."

"But we are the ones that are destroying your homes. We are doing it just because of the faith you provide your gods. Don't you think it is unfair?"

"It might be, but what it isn't?

Anyway, I did everything I could to survive since I was a kid. I don't care what you do to this planet or this realm. Even if you turn everyone into a corpse and then into undead to make your own undead army, I will be fine.

As long as I survive. That is all that matters."

"You are cold-hearted for a kid." Philip said in a soft tone.

Vynk didn't know what to say about that. He felt a tinge of regret creeping up his heart. He felt like maybe being too honest might have cost him entry into Dusk.

But Philip's next words eased his mind."

"I like it.

You are just about to awaken, your mind is clear and you went through a lot and surprisingly you don't know how on the point you are about the current situation and what is going to happen next.

Anyway, welcome to Dusk. Since you are a kid, you will have some special privileges. Particularly as an orphan.

Choose between them and I think you will make the right choice anyway. My subordinate will guide you.

See you later."

Philip just left after that and a member of Dragon Hawk tribe took the kid away.

"Is he the boss?"

Vynk asked as he looked at Philip's back.

"He kind of is, but he is not the ultimate boss. There is a person above him."

"Is he the person they mentioned when they are declaring war?"

"Yeah."

"Where is he? Why is he not here?"

"From what I know, he is stuck in a place somewhere. From a place, he couldn't just break out. But he will be back soon."

"Why do these three still follow that person, if he could be caught by someone that easily. These three seem strong enough. They could start on their own. They could even take over this organization."

Dragon Hawk member looked at Vynk like he was an idiot.

"Kid, don't speak about them like that. Trust me, Philip might be able to tolerate some of your weird quirks and Jack is patient enough to not lift his sword at a kid.

But Watt will bang your head on a stone until you forget your own name.

From what I heard about you, you have a twisted worldview. I get why you are like that. You were alone since you were a kid, you had to be constantly on guard and you don't trust anyone. You care more about your survival than anything else in the world.

The four bosses, are kind of like you. They didn't have anyone in the world. But they had each other since they were almost your age. They stuck together through so much.

They built a lot together and saved millions of lives by establishing Dusk. Particularly orphans like you.

And we all love them for it.

Trust, loyalty, and kinship, might be unfamiliar to you. But if you want to be a part of Dusk, you will have to nurture those qualities and I am sure, when you train here, you will know exactly what I am talking about."

Vynk just looked at the Dragon Hawk member as he babbled on.

He then thought back to the announcement Philip made.

One of the reasons, he came to Dusk is because of that announcement. If someone is selfish enough to kill everyone in a city innocent and guilty, just to get their desired results, he felt that they might be as cold-hearted as them.

But now he kind of have a feeling that they are all hypocrites. Talks of honorable things like loyalty and stuff are definitely not the first thing that comes to his mind when he thinks of a person. Particularly if that person is currently committing genocide.

For the first time in a while, Vynk felt confused.

He is skeptical and curious about what Dusk is going to be like and how it is going to change him.

And when that thought came to his mind, he knew that he is going to learn something new from there on. But what he doesn't know is that the exact time that thought came to him is the birth time of one of many legends the Dusk has created.

But this one stands out even among them. The legend of Vynk. Also known as the Blood Iron Hound of Dusk. Trained by one of the founding members, Philip himself.

A legend that stands behind one of Sam's legendary students, Habi the Venomous Blade Dancer. But that is a story for another time.

Right now, after Vynk was absorbed into Dusk. There was a new spreading back in the Dark Lightning City about the first refugee leaving that place.

That soon prompted a second, a third, and a fourth refugee to seek out Dusk. They are all people who were at the bottom of the pyramid. They figured that at the rate things are going, even if Dark Lightning found a solution, it might be too late for them.

So, they abandoned their faith and went to seek Dusk. The people that caused their misery and opened their eyes.

And of course, that is just the beginning of the long train of refugees that followed them.

On their way, someone people couldn't make it. They collapsed and gave up. But to their surprise, Dusk actually sent some help to fetch these refugees. So, the fact that they are the cause of this misery in pursuit of their petty revenge, was forgotten.
