Chapter 129: Chapter 129: Confronting Other Survivors

At the moment Leng Pan entered the supermarket, there was a confrontation between Lu Zhen and the survivors.

She didn’t know what had happened, but it looked like the people there were stopping them from collecting supplies and Lu Zhen didn’t want to fight them. He had been trying to communicate with them and explaining that he didn’t want to take too much. He only needed to take a few supplies of everything, especially food and snacks.

Unfortunately , he had encountered people who were unreasonable and seemed to think that just because they had been locked in the mall when the apocalypse started, they owned the place.

Leng Pan walked forward and stood next to her husband, looking at the people on the other side who looked as if they were ready to draw blood if challenged.

The supermarket still had a lot of supplies. Even though there were many people in the supermarket, they couldn’t have eaten too much in just over a week. Especially for food stuff such as rice and flour that required cooking.

The survivors had first eaten the ready food such as bread, cakes, biscuits, and soft beverages. There were still some of these left but obviously, Leng Pan and her companions didn’t need them. With uncle Li having a superpower that made the food he cooked and the desserts he made to taste like heaven, who would want to take these preservative filled stuff?

"You can’t take anything here. Just go somewhere else. The things here aren’t even enough for us to last for a long time. We can’t share them." One middle-aged woman stated.

Leng Pan had not understood what was happening at first, but when she heard that statement, she realized that these are the kinds of people who feel entitled just because they got somewhere first.

"How can you say something so unreasonable? You don’t own this place, so how can you tell us not to take anything?" Lu Tao was pissed by how cocky these people were.

They seemed to think that having a larger crowd meant they had an advantage. That could be seen from the fact that they were standing there blocking the way and some even holding baseball bats.

They must have found them inside the supermarket for sale or in a store room.

Leng Pan took her husband’s hand and asked, "Hubby, what’s happening here? Why haven’t you packed anything after so long?"

"Sister-in-law, you don’t know this but these people are claiming to own these things and won’t let us take anything. Big brother has tried talking to them calmly but they won’t budge.

Brother decided to wait for you to make the decision. Should we go somewhere else or what?" Lu Tao jumped to reply to Leng Pan’s question when he heard her ask her husband about the situation.

"Why should we go somewhere else? Which brand of products does any of them own? I bet nothing. So, how did these things become their’s? Also, I know the owner of this mall and he is definitely not in this crowd. Why are you tolerating these people? If someone stands on your way, take care of them." Leng Pan did not mince her words after Lu Tao vividly explained the problem they were facing.

The mall belonged to the Lu Group, yet here Lu Zhen, the CEO was being blocked by some nobodies who didn’t even own a small shop claiming to have a supermarket.

Leng Pan didn’t lower her voice when she replied to Lu Tao, thus, everyone in there heard her and some got angry.

"Who do you think you are to talk about us like that? We got her first and at the end of the world, there is no owner of a certain property. Even if the real owner of the mall came, then he can only leave empty handed if we don’t want to give him anything." Another man replied. He looked more like the leader of the group and it was understandable he would want to assert his authority but to demean Lu Zhen to the extent that he thought he could control his assets, even if the apocalypse had started was something Leng Pan could not tolerate.

"You should watch your mouth. Trouble comes from the mouth and right now, you are about to get into really deep trouble for your words." Leng Pan warned the man who had talked as if he was a boss and Lu Zhen was some beggar coming to ask him for alms.

"Young girl, I can tell that you are young even if you are wearing a mask. Don’t always be so aggressive when talking to people. If the people in this group decide to stop you from even leaving, you will be the one in trouble. Right now, they are only asking you to leave empty-handed and you can go to other shops.

You don’t have to take supplies from here. Why don’t you take your husband and brother-in-law and leave in one piece?" This time, a slightly mature man was the one talking to Leng Pan. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

It sounded like good advice, but the way he accused her of being aggressive and even threatened her of not leaving in one piece if they continued to try to take supplies disgusted Leng Pan.

How could he pretend to be an understanding elder when he was just taking advantage of his seniority to patronize them.

"Let’s go take what we need, Don’t bother with these noise makers. We have other places to go later and can’t waste any more time here." Leng Pan immediately instructed her husband and brother-in-law.

"I’ll listen to Panpan." Lu Zhen, being a man of few words, continued with his concise speech when in front of strangers.

When Lu Tao heard his sister-in-law say not to bother with the noise makers, he was overjoyed and as soon as his brother replied, two guns appeared in his hands.

"Are you going to get out of the way or should I make you?" He asked the group of people standing in front of them blocking their way.

"Who are you trying to scare with those toy guns? You really think we would be afraid?" The girl who had been the loudest asked with her arms crossed.

Lu Tao didn’t bother with the woman’s words and simply fired a shot into a wall. When the gun went off, the people who had been talking with bravado quietened down. Others were trembling and moving backwards from them.

They just realized that they had messed with the wrong group of people. Nobody told them anything anymore but they made way without being asked.

"If you had done that when we got here, wouldn’t we have left by now? Why make things difficult for yourselves?" Lu Tao asked again as if taunting them. After all, they had been so adamant about not letting them take anything in the supermarket that he thought they had a card up their sleeves.

As it turned out, they were just cowards relying on their numbers to bully them.

The group of three walked to the side and each took two shopping carts. They started filling it with items from different shelves and aisles.

Lu Zhen focused on filling his carts with bags of rice and floor. When the carts were full, he pushed them down to the ground floor and headed to the outside where they had parked their truck near the door.

When he got there, he found that more zombies had surrounded the place. Because of the earlier noise caused by fighting and the dense life force coming from the mall due to so many people being together as a group, it was normal for more zombies to come there.

Before opening the door, Lu zhen used his fire ability to cover himself and the carts he was pushing.

He had already learned to control the temperature of his flames and their range. As long as he didn’t want something to burn, it would not even if it was on fire.

However, even though his carts would not burn, the zombies that came near his flames weren’t as lucky. They turned to ashes immediately.

He pushed the carts to the truck, opened the back and transferred the supplies he had taken inside.

After all the rice and flour were transferred, he pushed the carts back into the mall and went back into the supermarket. Leng Pan then gave him her already filled carts that contained bags of sugar and he turned back and went outside again.

Coming back, it was Lu Tao’s turn to give his carts to his brother and as expected, they were filled to the brim with snacks.

Leng Pan and Lu Zhen didn’t say anything about this and just continued with their work.

In fact, while Leng Pan was filling the carts with items, she was also putting some in her space. Also, since that group of people were afraid and didn’t dare to follow them, she put away some of the other things in the shelves she passed.

Even if it was something that wasn’t entering the cart, she would put them in the space.

In this way, the three worked for more than an hour before the truck was half full of supplies including sugar, flour, rice, pasta, oils, condiments, and other supplies including daily necessities.

When they were done, they didn’t bother with anyone and simply left. Leng Pan led the others to the grocery store where she had left the packed vegetables and fruits and they started loading them into carts and Lu Zhen continued his job of loading them into the truck.

Once everything was loaded, they got into their truck and headed to their second destination.

Since they had promised to bring back everything the family needed for a balanced diet, they couldn’t just stop at dry goods.
