Rewriting My Fate in the Apocalypse-Chapter 112: Improvement in Superpower Control.
Chapter 112: Chapter 112: Improvement in Superpower Control.
Lu Tao came back with a glass of water. He went straight to the bed and placed the glass on the bedside table before helping his mother to sit up and lean on the head board.
He then held the glass to her mouth and urged her to drink.
Li Yunjia was amused by how her son was trying to take care of her so awkwardly and how he thought that drinking water could help.
However, she was feeling a little thirsty and decided to hydrate since the water was already there. Taking small sips, Li Yunjia drank the entire glass.
But she soon realized that something was a miss. She was so drained before that she couldn’t even lift one finger, but at that moment, she could feel strength returning to her limbs and she could swear that she could even run a marathon at that moment.
How was that possible? Did water really have such an effect? She didn’t believe it one bit. But she was aware that it was because of the water that she had gotten better.
Moving her body to sit more comfortably on the bed, she looked at her son who was somewhat avoiding her gaze and knew that she had guessed correctly.
That water was no regular drinking water. It was mixed with something else. But what was it exactly?
Looking at her son who was fidgeting even though he tried to hide it, she still asked the question her son probably didn’t want to answer.
"Where did that water come from?"
"From the water dispenser in the corridor near the kitchen." Lu Tao decided to play dumb and answered the question in a twisted way, which was of course, not what his mother was asking.
"Don’t play dumb with me. You know what I am asking." Li Yunjia didn’t let him get away with it by playing dumb and asked again.
"Mom, can you please not ask? Just know that the water in that dispenser could help you recover faster. Before you start practicing, make sure to put a glass of it near you.
Once you are done, just take a sip and you will recover enough to hold the glass yourself." Lu Tao had promised not to talk about these things to anyone. Not even the other members of the family.
So, even though this was his mother before him, he couldn’t break his promise.
When Li Yunjia heard her son’s response, she stopped asking as she realized that this topic was sensitive and if overheard by others, it could cause a disaster.
In these kinds of situations, it was always, ’the less you know, the longer you live.’ Therefore, she decided not to pursue the issue. She was sure that it involved her elder son and daughter-in-law and she didn’t want to make things hard for them.
Not knowing what was happening was insignificant. Those two children knew the risks of exposing something like that water, yet to ensure the whole family’s wellbeing, they left it in the dispenser for everyone to drink.
"Okay, I won’t ask anymore. Just don’t give it to outsiders. It would be troublesome if something happened." Li Yunjia advised her son.
Lu Tao breathed a sigh of relief when he heard his mother say she won’t pursue the issue. He really wouldn’t know what to do as he couldn’t break his promise to his brother.
"Thanks Mom, I know what to do." Lu Tao replied politely.
Of course that water couldn’t be given to others to drink. It could bring their family to the abyss. So, no matter who it was, they couldn’t be given that water.
Lu Zhen and Leng Pan had found a large empty warehouse in an underground building inside the subway station. There were only a few discarded pieces of furniture inside, which the two placed in a corner of the warehouse and cleared a large area for training.
This place was going to be their training grounds for the time being. They didn’t know what the future would bring, but they had to be strong enough to face it.
The two started to train separately. Lu Zhen had already gotten the feeling of controlling fire needles from the battle outside; now, he can focus on increasing the number of needles he could create and control.
Ten were obviously not enough since they would need the more power to attack any zombies that come their way.
It would be good if he could also learn how to control how much power each fire needle carried to avoid injuring the innocent or letting go of the bad person.
If someone became a threat that needed to be eliminated, he wanted to be able to use one fire needle like a bullet.
Therefore, learning and practicing precise control of the fire needle, including its size, force, speed , and temperature were necessary.
Now, standing on one side of the warehouse, he kept creating fire needles in bunches to determine first, how many he could create, and how many of those he could control to attack.
It was extremely taxing not only physically as a lot of energy and spiritual power is involved, but also on mental strength.
Without sufficient mental strength to control those needles, it would be useless to launch them.
So, while practicing everything else, Lu Zhen was also building his mental strength. He had come to realize that strengthening mental power required constant exhaustion and recovery.
Every time he exhausted his mental power completely, he would be able to control one more needle the next time after recovery.
The only downside was that the recovery of mental power wasn’t as fast as that of spiritual power. Even with the help of the spiritual spring water, it was still slow to recover.
Nevertheless, he had also found out that the constant exhaustion and recovery was helping him when attacking.
They had been practicing for three hours without taking a break and he had already exhausted his mental power twice. When he recovered each time, he realized that controlling the same number of fire needles was easier and didn’t need him to strain so much anymore.
Now, he started to suspect that once his proficiency increased, he could attack with his superpower without wasting much energy or mental power.
This was a pleasant surprise because then if he had some energy in his power core, then he could fight with precision.
Thinking of this, Lu Zhen even felt all the fatigue he was experiencing disappear and he was filled with vigor. He didn’t even feel hungry and forgot to eat.
Leng Pan who was about to take a break and suggest that they stop to eat lunch swallowed the words that were about to escape her mouth back into her stomach.
Seeing how her husband seemed to have been injected with chicken blood, she didn’t dare to disturb him. She just let him be and went back to her side to continue practicing. freeweɓnovel-cøm
Just like her husband, Lu Zhen, Leng Pan was also training her to control her superpower. Even though now she could effortlessly form a sword with the water energy in her power core, she wanted to be able to do the same with the water in the atmosphere.
The same went for the mimicry she had been creating, and the mist barrier. Just as she had suspected, she could now produce hot water and the mist could also be made hot.
Moreover, while the water she absorbed was somewhat hot, it wasn’t hot enough to peel her skin. However, she had just found out that she could control the hot temperature of the water produced or mist, just like how she turned water into ice.
She still didn’t know if she could turn the temperature of the water in the surrounding atmosphere hot as well while using it. However, for now, she was practicing how to create the mist barrier and mimicry effortlessly.
Funny enough, just like with Lu Zhen, this trick also required mental strength. So, she also had to constantly exhaust and recover her mental energy.
She was also seeing improvement with her control and the capacity of her mental power.
At first, her mimicry could not completely solidify and pass for the real person, but now it could.
What’s more, she could maintain it for over five minutes. She was now very interested in the solidified mimicry because it even behaved like herself without her conscious command.
As long as someone didn’t touch it to confirm that it wasn’t her, many people, even those who know her might not be able to tell the difference.
She now had another thought. If she had enough mental power and was close to a water body, she could create more than one mimicry of herself and instead make more.
What if she could one day create an army of herself? An army that could attack and defend using her powers and skills?
That would be a significant advantage against enemies.
