Revive Rome: Wait! Why not make the empress fall in love with me first?-Chapter 530 - 40 Secret Process
"Messiah... why not the Anti-Christ?"
Mia and Miel murmured to each other.
When Natalie mentioned the Fate Law, the two little girls had already guessed: the heritage of Rasul’s so-called Revolutionary Army was inherited from this rotund nun named Natalie.
At this point in time, due to the recent rise of the Magic Tide, the high-ranking members of the Church Court were endeavoring to restore the data that had been destroyed, while the lower-ranking priests and nuns were put on unpaid extended leave.
Thus, for the past few days, Natalie had stayed at home with the four children, taking them to the bar’s basement for training every afternoon. Little did anyone know that this Church Court-working plump nun had adopted four underage Transcendents.
Miel and Mia even grew fond of her because this plump nun reminded them of Aske.
It was also Squad Leader Aske who had guided them onto the path of the Transcendents.
Among the four children, a dark-skinned boy named Derek, from the Afeilica province, was a descendant of Solomon people and local natives. Since the East Solomon Empire’s power was diminishing and gradually losing ground in the South Continent, he had ended up wandering to Solomon City on a cruise ship and was adopted by the plump nun.
Rasul was from Ilania, found in Jerusalem by the plump nun. The other two girls, one with braided hair, was Sherry, a lively girl from Armenia; the half-elf girl always wearing headphones was named Maya, coming from a border town in Lusitania.
These young boys and girls from all over the world only had one thing in common—they were all orphans adopted by the world-traveling plump nun, somewhat similar to Aske in that regard.
However, Aske himself was a formidable person and had led everyone to form a Mercenary Group, so there was no financial difficulty. The plump nun was just an ordinary person with no effective means to make money, subsisting on meager earnings from her Church Court job to support the four children, thus leading a tight life.
Yet, her face was always adorned with a spring-like smile, infecting the four children with her optimistic mood. Miel had even seen Rasul reveal the same kind of smile more than once.
It wasn’t the fake smile that Rasul would typically display in reality, but a genuinely joyful and happy expression from within. Had this person also experienced carefree and innocent times?
Under Miel and Mia’s observation, time rapidly advanced. Ten year later, the children were now eighteen or nineteen years old and each had progressed to Lv.10. Natalie had transformed from a plump nun into a middle-aged plump nun.
Being an ordinary human, the traces of time were extra visible on her.
During this time, Rasul had confessed to his two female companions, Sherry and Maya, but was brutally rejected by all, with Sherry even commenting, "You just want a girlfriend to replace mom Natalie in taking care of you, right?" nearly causing Rasul to break down on the spot.
Yet these everyday life continuities didn’t last long, as Rasul was soon to start Condensing Laws.
"Why do I have to condense the Fate Law?" This matter had always bothered Rasul because his other friends chose their own Laws, but his advancement direction was designated by Natalie, which annoyed him.
"Rasul, it’s because this is..."
"This is the ’choice of fate,’ right?" Rasul said impatiently. "It’s always that line, I could almost recite it by now."
"So, have you felt the Ritual Task?" Natalie asked with a smile.
"Yes," Rasul said, "It tells me to accept the ’heritage of fate’..."
"And this heritage, I need to obtain it from a computer program named ’Raphael.’"
Instantly, Natalie’s complexion changed, but she quickly masked her expression and smiled:
"The Raphael you mentioned, I should know him."
"You know him?" Rasul said, suspicious.
"Yes, I know him," Natalie smiled and said, "According to your Ritual Task description, I will take you to meet Him."
Natalie quickly sent the other three people out of Solomon City, then brought Rasul back home. Her exceedingly solemn demeanor made Rasul feel a bit strange.
She took a laptop and an internet cable out of her bag, placed the laptop on the desk, plugged in the cable, and prepared to press the power button. Her fingers trembled slightly. Rasul also realized that something seemed off and couldn’t help but ask,
"Natalie, that computer program called ’Raphael’..."
"It’s nothing," Natalie grabbed his hand, speaking softly as if to comfort him, "Actually, after telling you so many times, I should have realized it myself."
"Each of us, we have fates that we must accept."
She pressed the power button, and the screen lit up. Natalie opened a program, skillfully typed in a long string of command symbols, took a deep breath, and then said loudly,
"Raphael, I know you’re listening!"
"I am the Messiah of this era!"
The room fell silent for a moment, as if the noisy advertisements outside the window had all disappeared.
Precisely speaking, a vast Will, running through the virtual network made up of data torrents, was now casting its gaze toward this area of Solomon City. It reduced the decibels of nearby public sound sources, so the upcoming conversation with Natalie could be as undisturbed as possible.
"Hello, Messiah." The computer screen still showed the desktop, yet a voice came through the computer’s speakers:
"I am Raphael."
Natalie was stunned for a moment, apparently not expecting Raphael to greet her directly rather than immediately locking her apartment’s main doors and dispatching several squads of military drones and Temple Knights to kill her.
"To be precise, I am not the main body of Raphael," the voice continued, "but a secret, highest-priority process in Raphael’s base program."
"A secret, process?" Natalie asked uncertainly.
"Yes," the voice said, "This process is named ’Revolution,’ created by someone named L.J. Brutus. You should recognize this name."
"L.J. Brutus..." Natalie muttered, as if struck by lightning, "I remember the name, he was..."
"...a founding figure of the Ancient Solomon Republic in the early Third Epoch, who led the people of Solomon in overthrowing the Transcendent class and established the foundations of a democratic republic, being hailed as ’the Father of Solomon,’" the voice answered, "Also, he was the programmer of the super-intelligent Raphael."
"The initial purpose of creating super-intelligent Raphael was to protect the continuity of human civilization. After all, under the rule of the Transcendents, individual power prevailed over everything, but this power was an illusive facade that could not prevent the increasingly out-of-control tendencies of the Transcendent rulers, which would eventually lead to Nihility."
"Therefore, L.J. Brutus programmed my main body, Raphael, hoping it would be able to preserve the seeds of human civilization if the Transcendent powers ever returned in the limited future."
"Indeed, his foresight was correct, for at the end of the Fourth Epoch, the once unstoppable Solomon Empire was indeed destroyed by the Barbarians, and the Church Court was established from the ruins of the Imperial Academy of Sciences with Raphael’s help."
"What does this secret process named ’Revolution’ have to do with all this?" Rasul interjected.
"’Revolution’ was born from another foresight of L.J. Brutus," the voice replied, "Although the main body, Raphael, was designed to maintain the continuity of human civilization."
"However, at some stage in the future, ’humanity’ and ’civilization’ might come into conflict, and this would compel my main body to make a logical judgment: should the continuity of ’humanity’ be prioritized, or that of ’civilization’?"
"L.J. Brutus’s answer was that the continuity of humanity prevails above all."
"The purpose of the ’Revolution’ process is to maintain the continuity of humanity at any cost, even if it hinders the continuity of civilization. As a secret process, it was designed as hidden annotated code to prevent unnecessary detection."
"The key to using it was set to be the Eden Fruit, a Holy Artifact of the Fate Law, once held by the tyrant of Etruria. L.J. Brutus obtained it and secretly established an organization to pass it down, which was named the ’Revolutionary Army.’"
"He himself then became the first Messiah."
