Over the past two weeks, Han Se-hee had been training with Baek Seo-jun three to four times a week, and she could feel her skills improving at an astonishing rate.

Beyond the two-hour training sessions, she often visited Baek Seo-jun’s house to be transported to Somalia and other locations for practice. Occasionally, they also spent time together outside of training.

"It doesn’t feel like I’ve done much with Seo-jun oppa..."

However, their interactions outside of training were limited to having dinner together or sharing light conversations.

Even during the four years she had visited Baek Seo-jun and Seomun Ye-jin, Han Se-hee had never been invited inside the house. She had only ever been in the yard.

What weighed on her heart, however, was the constant presence of Seomun Ye-jin by Seo-jun’s side.

Ye-jin often wore miniskirts or hot pants, pairing them with form-fitting tops that highlighted her curves. Even when stepping outside, she would cling to Seo-jun, openly displaying her affection.

Watching this left Han Se-hee feeling suffocated.

What made it worse was the sense that Ye-jin was fully aware of Se-hee’s feelings and flaunted her actions intentionally.

But Se-hee couldn’t complain or express her discomfort.

After all...

- "Se-hee, do you want to go to Seo-jun-nim’s place together today? I can take you."

- "Sure! Thanks, Ha-yeon."

- "Let’s get ready early so we can have lunch together before heading there."

- "Okay!"

Se-hee smiled at the text message from Lee Ha-yeon.

Over the past three months of training under Baek Seo-jun, Se-hee and Ha-yeon had grown close, quickly transitioning to a more casual friendship.

Both were the same age, and beyond training, they shared a sense of camaraderie.

They had both been kidnapped by Gye Un-jik, and more than that, they often exchanged what little they knew about Baek Seo-jun from before he turned ten years old.

Although Ha-yeon lived at the Angel Guild headquarters in Seoul, and Se-hee resided at the Kangin Orphanage in Kaesong, they frequently met.

"Se-hee!"

"Ha-yeon!"

Whenever they met at their usual spot, they greeted each other warmly.

At the orphanage, Se-hee had always been admired for her outstanding abilities and beauty, but she had kept her distance from others.

She could see the jealousy in the eyes of the other girls and the desire in the eyes of the boys.

Her relationships were polite yet distant, and this applied to Baek Seo-jin as well.

She had clearly told him she had no intention of becoming his true friend, and while he had agreed, he acted as if he’d forgotten and treated her like a close companion anyway.

Especially after recovering from the injuries inflicted by Gye Un-jik, he had become even more peculiar.

In this regard, Lee Ha-yeon was Se-hee’s first real friend.

"Wow, Se-hee, did you wear makeup today? I mean, I’m the one with mixed Western and Eastern blood, but you’re the one who looks like a doll!"

Ha-yeon teased playfully, and Se-hee could see a sense of liberation in her demeanor.

As the heir of the Angel Guild, Ha-yeon was always expected to maintain a refined and graceful image. Moments like this, spent freely chatting with a friend, were a rare indulgence for her.

"Ha-yeon, I think you’re the prettier one."

"Oh, stop it, you!"

As they complimented each other’s looks, both felt an underlying awkwardness.

Ha-yeon had never had a peer with whom she could share her thoughts freely, and Se-hee had never enjoyed conversations without maintaining some emotional distance.

Yet, as they continued to talk, they slowly bridged that gap.

"Hey, Se-hee."

"Yeah, Ha-yeon?"

"Don’t you think we should repay Seo-jun-nim somehow?"

"Yeah, I’ve been thinking the same. I wish there was something we could do to thank Seo-jun oppa."

Se-hee agreed with Ha-yeon’s sentiment.

To both of them, Baek Seo-jun was a savior. For Se-hee specifically, he was also the one who avenged her parents.

Being on the receiving end of his kindness so often, they felt a strong desire to give something back.

"Se-hee, there’s something I thought of... Would you like to hear it?"

Ha-yeon cautiously broached the subject, her tone suggesting the idea might not be entirely pleasant. Se-hee had a sense of what it might be about.

"...Sure. I’ve been thinking, too. I know what the Baekho Guild did to Seo-jun oppa."

Se-hee, after all, had spent years hearing Baek Seo-jin’s disparaging comments and insults directed at Baek Seo-jun.

It was only natural for her thoughts to align with Ha-yeon’s in this matter.

The time was drawing near for Lee Ha-yeon and Han Se-hee to arrive.

As usual, they alternated between various suitable training locations, never bringing them inside the house. Neither had I ever introduced them to Ramisa.

[“Krrhh... I will forever bury this in my heart, my one true love.”]

Ramisa, the long black serpent, was currently engrossed in a historical fusion drama on the television, sobbing over the protagonist’s heartbreak as he mourned his dying lover.

Shaking my head at the sight, I thought how ridiculous it was that such an entity, once a foreign god-like existence intent on consuming the world, had become enamored with romantic dramas.

"It’s probably time to explain Ramisa to them—hiding this is becoming a hassle."

"Seo-jun-ssi~"

Before I could dwell on it further, Seomun Ye-jin’s embrace took my attention.

"I’m not going to die like that protagonist! I’ll live forever with Seo-jun-ssi by my side!"

Apparently, Ye-jin had also been watching the drama.

"Me neither," I replied with a smile.

Her declaration always filled me with warmth. Every time Ye-jin expressed her love, I responded in kind.

["It’s amusing how your romantic drama on TV turns into a real-life one."]

Ignoring Ramisa’s telepathic commentary, I pulled Ye-jin into a tighter hug.

Her soft, resilient body against mine, paired with her sweet scent, heightened my mood. Lately, even her fragrance had become more enticing.

As always, she was dressed for an outing. She wore her usual jean hotpants and a simple sleeveless top—casual clothing that doubled as gear for hunters. Thanks to additional enhancements I’d made, the outfit was durable enough to withstand an SSS-class hunter’s full-powered slash without a scratch.

"Seo-jun-ssi, will you keep teaching Ha-yeon and Se-hee?"

"Of course. They’re talented, and... they might be useful."

By the time the main events of the original timeline began, their cooperation could serve to push Baek Seo-jin deeper into despair.

However, I wasn’t planning to ask them outright.

If I knew Han Se-hee and Lee Ha-yeon, they’d feel guilty about being indebted to me and would eventually offer to help of their own accord.

And by now, Baekho Guild was likely starting to suspect the extent of my involvement in certain events.

"It’s worthwhile if it helps you, Seo-jun-ssi, but... I don’t like the way those girls look at you."

Still nestled in my arms, Seomun Ye-jin voiced her mild complaint. Her adorable reaction brought a smirk to my face, and I lightly stroked her lower back.

I had learned that whenever Ye-jin voiced dissatisfaction, simply touching her in such a way quickly eased her mood.

"Still, I admit, Se-hee and Ha-yeon seem like good girls. They’re far too decent to leave in the hands of someone like Baek Seo-jin."

Ye-jin’s voice carried a deep resentment whenever she mentioned Baek Seo-jin’s name, reflecting her awareness of my vendetta against him.

Anyone overhearing her might think she, rather than me, was the one with a grudge against Seo-jin.

"But, Seo-jun-ssi, can you promise me something?"

"What is it?"

Noticing a hint of unease and tension in her gaze, I softened my tone to reassure her. Ye-jin relaxed slightly, tightening her embrace around me as I gently squeezed her lower back again.

Finally, with a calmer expression, she made her request.

"Even if you end up surrounded by other women... please, always love me the most. No matter what."

Her request was simple, obvious, and effortless for me to fulfill.

"Of course."

Pulling her close, I placed both hands firmly on her hips, promising:

"I’ll always love you the most and treasure you above anyone else. I swear it."

"Hehe~ I believe you! I’ll love you forever too, Seo-jun-ssi. Just make sure to keep your promise, okay?"

"I promise I’ll treasure you more than anyone else for all eternity."

This wasn’t a deal—it was a vow.
