Revenge Begins: Reincarnated as a Hated Idol!-Chapter 39: Echoes of the Spotlight
Two days later, HBS released an article.
’Aren Loses an Audition to Theon. Does This Prove Who Is Superior? Click to Discover More...’
Inside the article, HBS attached the same pictures of Aren entering the audition site and explained that he had gone for the audition of the lead role.
They then explained that Theon had given the audition for the same role and was deemed more suitable and superior to Aren for the role.
Then they began to tell the viewers about the drama and its plot.
Under the article, Theon’s fans erupted in ecstasy.
[Bwahaha... This just proves who is better. Stop filling the social media with Aren’s face.]
[Seriously... Being handsome isn’t a skill. Acting is what is required of an Actor, and now we know who’s better at it.]
[Honestly, I always knew Theon would show everyone. It’s just that Ryan and Luna are too experienced in acting, and Theon is just a beginner. But he is still better than Aren by a thousand times.]
[Aren is just a faded star, not knowing his place. This is just his beginner’s luck working.]
[True... To Your Heart will take a dip in viewership once those foolish viewers get fed up of watching his face.]
Meanwhile, Venste Morel was having a quarrel with his writer friend, Seth Nava.
"Why did you accept Blackshore Management’s offer? I told you only Aren can justify this role."
Seth Nava looked at Venste Morel with puppy eyes, speaking in a meek voice:
"But Blackshore Management promised such a huge budget. With such a high budget, my script, and your direction, can’t we work with Theon as the lead?"
Venste let out a long, weary sigh: "That’s the issue. You don’t understand a great actor’s worth. This drama can’t succeed without someone as good as Aren."
Seth pressed his lips together and said convincingly: "But will any big platform invest in a drama with Aren as the lead? His reputation is too bad. Theon, on the other hand, is rising with The Insider’s success."
Venste was annoyed at that reasoning. "Then let me tell you. I have no interest in directing a drama where my opinions aren’t valued."
As he turned around to leave, Seth grabbed his hand, speaking while being on the verge of tears: "Please do it for me. Give me your trust for once. I’m convinced this drama will be a success."
Venste remained silent for a while, and then let out a helpless sigh: "Alright, I will do it for you. But it will be your job to explain everything to Aren’s manager."
"Hmm." Seth agreed without any hesitation.
...
"Alright, I understand." Aren said on the phone to Livia. "Then please tell the Symphony of Shadows production to prepare the contract signing. I will leave the negotiations to you."
Aren wasn’t dejected by the turn of events. He was already having trouble leaving one role for the other, and this news was as if the universe had made a decision for him.
To be honest, he liked this role better than New Dawn’s anyway.
It was just the dark and brutal part that was making him hesitate.
Now that his dilemma was solved for him by fate itself, he didn’t bother fussing over the issue.
In less than a week, Aren had already finished signing the contract and was now even attending auditions for the drama as a judge.
It was Friday afternoon, and the auditions were going on for the female supporting roles.
Aren was playing a double role in the drama, thus requiring two actresses to play his lovers.
Till now, Aren was just sitting beside the director, Fin Jacobs, and the writer, Kace Wean.
He didn’t play a role in the audition process, just watching actresses perform and leaving.
There wasn’t a single known or popular actress auditioning for the role since the drama was being produced by Fin Jacobs for now. He planned to pitch the drama to the platforms once the cast was finalized.
With an obscure production and Aren as the lead, the drama didn’t seem too lucrative for the renowned actresses.
But that was until the next two actresses entered—Lisa Vern and Gisha Nile.
Aren’s eyes widened when he saw them enter together. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
’What are they doing here?’
The director and the writer, however, seemed to already be aware of their visits.
They greeted them before proceeding with the audition.
To be honest, both performed just above average, but this drama relied on Aren’s acting more than anything. Their roles were small, only appearing for a few minutes in the episodes.
They weren’t cast right away; instead, they were told to wait for the call from them.
Aren didn’t get the chance to talk to either Gisha or Lisa; instead, the director asked for his opinion on the casting.
"What do you think, Aren? Should we cast them both?"
"If you are asking my opinion, then I think we should. They are already getting famous thanks to To Your Heart. Their names can help the drama get a good platform to air."
The director, Fin Jacobs, smiled in agreement: "My thoughts are exactly the same. Their pairings with you will attract To Your Heart’s viewers to our show as well."
Lisa and Gisha were both cast as lovers of Aren’s double roles.
Aren was playing twins in the Symphony of Shadows, one a frail, stammering corporate employee, while the other a top-class mercenary, complete opposites of each other.
When they were travelling together in a car, the mercenary brother dies and the weak one survives.
When he investigates about his brother’s death, he finds out that this wasn’t an accident but instead an attack on his brother’s life.
At the same time, he develops a double personality, his brother overcoming him as he takes revenge on the killers.
The show was dark, requiring great levels of acting on Aren’s part.
At night, To Your Heart’s episode six aired, taking the show’s hype to the next level the following day.
