Chapter 45: begged Valerie

At 9 PM...

Damian parked his car in Valerie’s driveway, but instead of immediately getting out, he sat there lost in thought, staring straight ahead.

"It used to be so easy to have you... My stupidity pushed you away, but I know you still want me. I promise I’ll make you believe in me again, I’ll make your fears fade away, I’ll heal your traumas," he thought anxiously, envisioning Valerie’s beautiful face.

Taking a deep breath, he removed his black suit and placed it on the seat before getting out. Walking towards the front door, he imagined Valerie’s reaction and prepared excuses for knowing her new address.

"Oh, she’s out..." Damian halted as he saw Valerie emerging, approaching him with a cold gaze. "Shit, I think she’s going to be angry."

"Just a few hours here, and you already know and come without asking for permission. Don’t you think I’m not tired?" Valerie asked, her eyes glaring, then swung her hand towards Damian’s face.

Unable to avoid Valerie’s slap, Damian turned his head to the right. He sighed and looked at her patiently.

"I don’t know what to do anymore; stop chasing me!" Valerie exclaimed with teary eyes, frustration evident on her face. "I don’t want your father always coming and blaming me after you visit me. It never occurred to me!"

Damian remained silent.

"He’s always angry every time you come to me as if I’m tempting you. I never thought about that!" Valerie pushed Damian in frustration. "I don’t want you anymore. You’ve hurt me, shattered my heart, ruined my life! You don’t understand me. It’s not just about our mistakes; it’s about how you initiated that betrayal and left a mark on my heart! I hate you, I hate you!" She pounded Damian’s chest brutally. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

"Valerie... calm down!" Damian tried to avoid Valerie’s punches.

"I hate you, bastard!"

"I know, Valerie... you need to calm down!"

"I’m sick of seeing you!" Valerie shouted, hitting Damian’s chest again until he leaned on his car. She took a deep breath, her face wet with tears, then suddenly stepped back and sat on the evenly planted green grass.

She cried with her head down, and Damian immediately reached out, standing halfway and embracing her with a sorrowful gaze.

"I hate you!" Valerie whispered in her tears, truly exhausted with Damian. ’I know I’m wrong; sometimes I want to be back with you, but you always make me want us to end. I’m confused by these feelings... I can’t imagine you marrying that girl while Daniel always wants us together!’ she screamed in her heart.

"I know you’re tired and fed up with my father," Damian said.

"I hate you too!" Valerie replied, pushing Damian to release his embrace.

Damian fell backward, sitting on the grass.

"Please, don’t come to me again. I don’t want your father to know, then ask me to hide again. I’m tired... And actually, I came back because I want to be close to my family too... I can’t hide in another city anymore!" Valerie pleaded.

"You don’t need to hide," Damian whispered.

"Then stop meeting me, go now!"

"No... I won’t leave, and I’ll see you more often, stay here... I’ll sleep with Daniel... and you, I will..."

"You’re crazy!" Valerie exclaimed, turning to Damian.

Damian nodded with a flat gaze. "I am crazy. You know that... So, understand that once you’re involved with me, you won’t get away as long as I still want you."

"You can’t do that!"

"I can..."

Valerie immediately smiled thinly, then turned her face and wiped away her remaining tears while staring straight ahead.

"Do you think I’ll fall for your words? No... never again," she said, shaking her head. "You already accepted another girl after I left, then you left her just like that when I came back. And now, you’re doing it again... You can’t play with a woman’s feelings just to satisfy your ego," she continued.

Damian fell silent, contemplating Valerie’s words.

"I know I’m also pathetic; I accepted Samuel just to hurt you and stop your father’s pressure... I played with him... But I chose to be alone... I’m not like you, using others to fill your empty heart, as an outlet... So I know, you’ll still be happy even if I don’t accept you," Valerie said again.

"I know I’m pathetic, a jerk... Playboy... I hurt them... But when I hurt you, I also suffer... Now I understand that I can’t be with anyone else but you. I don’t want to marry anyone else, I won’t have children with anyone else... That’s my final decision, I won’t change it even if you reject me," Damian said, swallowing his saliva, as if it was truly difficult to say.

Valerie turned to him.

"But I hope that you give me a chance. I promise... This time I’ll do it right," Damian said, then turned his gaze away for a moment. "I mean... You won’t face criticism from anyone after accepting me back. I’ll make everything gorgeous," he continued, looking back at Valerie.

Valerie remained silent, looking into Damian’s eyes as if seeking sincerity.

"Give me a chance... Please ..."

Valerie was silent, as if she was still doubtful.

"Believe me, accepting me back is not something bad, it doesn’t mean you’re weak... I know you’re strong, and a great mother... But let me make it easier for you... With my love," Damian whispered, then reached for Valerie’s hand. "I still remember all the sweet moments between us... Our dreams... It would be great if we continued... Especially with Daniel in between us now... I feel like... I don’t know how to continue my life’s journey if not with you," he continued with a pleading look.

Valerie furrowed her brow, caught in a dilemma.

"Don’t be afraid anymore... I’m not as bad as you think... I mean, I’m a jerk, but only you can lock my heart ..."

"How can I believe?" asked Valerie

"Look into my eyes... Nothing has changed... I still see you as the girl I love, respect... "
