Chapter 33: man’s anger

"But you already said that you could learn to love me," Samuel said with disappointment in his eyes. "Why are you like this, Valerie? How Can you change your mind so quickly? Just minutes after we part ways, you change your mind? What happened... is someone influencing you?" He wondered.

"Samuel..." Valerie shook her head, tightening her lips. "I’m not influenced by anyone, and I apologize for being so indecisive... But these are my feelings."

"But why?"

"Because I can’t... I can’t even kiss you!" Valerie hissed. "Then how would it go on if I couldn’t from the start..."

Samuel fell silent, seemingly stung by Valerie’s words.

"I don’t want to give you hope when I can’t meet your expectations," Valerie said again.

"But earlier today, you were sure you could. Now why has everything changed? What’s going on in your mind? Did Damian threaten you? Or maybe... Maybe I look disgusting to you, and you don’t want to kiss me?" Samuel questioned again, his gaze serious. "What’s troubling your mind? Have you received threats from Damian? Or maybe... Maybe I look repulsive in your eyes, and you don’t want to kiss me?"

"Samuel, I didn’t mean that..." Valerie shook her head.

"If that’s the case, we should try!" Samuel suddenly cupped both of Valerie’s cheeks and attempted to forcefully kiss her.

Instantly, Valerie pushed him away, turning her face, not allowing their lips to touch.

"Samuel... You’re insane!"

"You have to try!" Samuel continued to insist. "you have to feel it!"

Valerie struggled until she managed to push Samuel away, then quickly stood back, her breath heavy. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

"You’re insane!" Valerie exclaimed with trembling lips, her body shivering, her eyes glaring at Samuel who also stood up. "You can’t force it... I may have said yes before, I may have given you a chance, but I also have the right to revoke it!"

Samuel remained silent, his face expressing disappointment.

"I hate forceful men!" Valerie shouted again, quickly wiping her lips with the back of her hand.

"Maybe I’m too low for you... you want Damian or someone of his caliber!" Samuel shouted, clenching his fists, then walked towards the door.

Valerie quickly followed. "Samuel!"

Samuel continued walking out, heading to his car.

"Samuel, it’s not what you think. It’s about feelings!" Valerie exclaimed anxiously, suddenly feeling guilty for disappointing Samuel, but she couldn’t stay with him.

"Oh God... Am I evil now? Am I playing with him..."

"Valerie..."

A voice called from behind, and Valerie turned to see his mother.

"What’s going on? Are you arguing?" Dana asked, looking at Valerie’s reddened eyes.

Valerie turned her face away and walked towards the sofa.

Dana followed, then sat on another sofa.

"I’m confused, Mom..." Valerie said in tears. "I made a mistake. I accepted Samuel’s proposal earlier today, but tonight I feel it’s wrong. I would only make things worse... But when I ended our relationship, he got so angry... Now I feel guilty..."

"You made decisions too quickly this afternoon," Dana replied with a concerned look.

"I know... It’s my fault."

Dana sighed, then patted Valerie’s shoulder. "Now calm down, focus on yourself and Daniel."

"But Samuel is so disappointed, and I’ve already disappointed Damian too," Valerie said in tears.

"I know you care about them. You don’t want to hurt anyone. They are like that because of their actions. They pressed you too much without giving you peace first... You don’t always have to think about them, think about yourself," Dana replied calmly. "If they love you, they will respect your decision and won’t leave you just like that. A sincere man will always be good even when hurt... Just like you as a girl, you came back even though you knew it would be difficult to face Damian," she continued.

Valerie remained silent with her head bowed.

"Mama!"

Dana shifted her attention to Valerie’s bedroom door, hearing Daniel’s crying.

"Your son is awake..."

"Please tell Hannah to bathe him," Valerie replied.

"It’s better if he doesn’t need to bathe," Dana stood up. "The weather is too cold, and he just recovered." She walked towards Valerie’s room.

Valerie glanced at her mother, then looked outside, imagining Samuel leaving without even listening to her.

’Oh God... Help me... Help me be selfish and not think about him or Damian anymore!’ she screamed in her heart, then took her phone from her pocket. "Maybe I should tell Damian about this. I don’t want him to keep being disappointed thinking I have a relationship with Samuel."

Valerie tried to contact Damian several times, but there was no response.

"Oh God, his number is not active!" she said anxiously. "Is he still very angry? Or maybe something happened to him?"

Valerie became more confused, thinking about Samuel and Damian, wondering what they were doing to ease their disappointment because of her actions. Huh, she did mess up, too easily making decisions when she already knew her feelings leaned towards Damian.

Inside their minimalist yet neatly arranged and beautiful monochromatic-themed house, Adriana provided medication and water, then brought them to the bedroom and approached her husband sitting in a wheelchair in front of the table, staring at the laptop showing a house design.

"You have to take your medicine," she said, placing the glass on the table and then handing three capsules to Eduardo.

Eduardo quickly took them, then swallowed them with water.

"What happened at your mother’s house? You said you just wanted to go there for a moment, but it’s almost 2 hours."

"No problem, I was just annoyed with Valerie, so I waited for her until she came, and then I found out she made a very crazy decision... So I advised her," Adriana explained while walking towards the hanging clothes rack and taking off her blue top, leaving her in a blue bra and black pants.

Eduardo spun his wheelchair, facing Adriana who switched to sitting in front of the dressing table.

"I don’t want to know about the craziness she did again, and you have to stop worrying about it," he said.

"Why are you saying that?"
