"Vivi, activate the Eyes of the Fallen," I murmured, moving forward.

"Initialising Host’s request..."

"Eyes of the Fallen activated!"

As I walked out of the crater, I deactivated Sword Aura from the Vajra because of how rapidly it was consuming my Soulforce.

To prevent me from getting surrounded from all sides, Jambavan and Master Robert, along with the army, launched fierce attacks at the empire’s soldiers gathered behind me.

Now that my back was safe, I turned my focus to the thousands of soldiers who rushed at me from the front.

My head throbbed due to the countless golden threads appearing before my eyes, revealing their weak points.

Each thread changed every second as the soldiers created different openings while moving.

The sheer volume of information made my head spin, yet I still needed it to fight this many soldiers.

If activated for an hour, Eyes of the Fallen consumed only five percent of the Soulforce used by a single attack unleashed through Sword Aura.

For a prolonged fight, using Eyes of the Fallen with physical attacks rather than relying on Soulforce was the optimal choice.

Following the golden threads, I began swinging my sword, cutting through the soldiers one after another. My body instinctively dodged unforeseen attacks thanks to the Divine Sense.

Minutes turned into hours, and I soon began losing the passage of time as I kept fighting through the unending waves of the empire’s soldiers.

Ding...

"The Skill: Divine Sense leveled up!"

A few managed to pass through my defenses but could not pierce the armour I was wearing. However, the blunt weapons still left their impact on my body.

Soon my arms began screaming for rest, my breath turned heavy, and my eyes were barely open, yet I did not stop for even a moment.

The heavy armour hid my facial expressions and ragged breaths, so even when I was barely conscious, to the empire’s soldiers I appeared completely fine.

Then suddenly, my Divine Sense flared violently, pulling me out of the daze.

I could feel it. Something dangerous, something that could endanger my life, was about to come.

My eyes darted around, scanning for the source of the ominous feeling while I kept my sword swinging through the soldiers attacking me.

"There it is," I muttered inwardly, my eyes focusing on the tower of the fortress where I could sense a tremendous amount of energy gathering.

The top of the tower began glowing like a bright crimson star and the next moment an explosive sphere of crimson energy shot toward me with a thunderous boom.

Without realizing it, I had reached the heart of the enemy army and was swarmed by soldiers from all sides, so I could not use Blink to escape the blazing meteor rushing at me.

"Fuck, this is going to be troublesome," I muttered inwardly, gripping my sword tightly and bracing for the impact as the sphere drew closer.

Boom!!!

An ear-deafening explosion occurred. A mountain of flame erupted. The battlefield turned dark with smoke and soon the cries of the soldiers caught in the aftermath echoed through the air.

As the smoke settled, the soldiers rolling on the ground came into view, screaming in agony as the armor they wore had melted and sunk into their burning skin. Some had their limbs obliterated, some had their entire lower bodies missing with their guts spilling out, while others had nothing left of them except a burnt pile of flesh.

At the center, a huge crater had been carved into the ground, cracks like a spiderweb spreading in all directions.

At the bottom of the crater itself, I stood motionless, holding my sword in one hand. Beads of blood trickled down the armor from my joints and fell to the ground from my gloved hands.

"Hah! What the fuck was that attack?" I muttered, moving forward as if nothing had happened.

In truth, several of my ribs had fractured and all of my joints had suffered injuries. If not for the armor I was wearing, Ruru’s blessing would have already activated by now.

Before the attack, I had been surrounded by thousands of soldiers, and now not a single body remained. Those caught directly in the explosion had been obliterated to ashes, while even those farther away had not remained unscathed.

"They just sacrificed ten thousand soldiers just to get rid of me," I muttered, a crackle of golden lightning dancing in my hand.

---

Few minutes earlier...

Two knights brought a massive cannon, pushing it from behind on a metal wheel.

After setting the cannon on one of the fortress towers, one of them left and called for Soren.

"Sir, we brought the Madam Doom."

"Alright," Soren nodded, reaching the tower.

From the front of the cannon, one soldier placed a head-sized ball into the cannon while Soren moved to the back and placed his palm on the flat plate embedded at the end of the cannon.

His hand began to glow and Soulforce started flowing into the cannon like veins. Its head turned bright crimson as more energy entered.

"Aim the cannon at the black knight," Soren ordered.

The soldiers nodded and positioned the cannon, its glowing muzzle aiming at Taranis.

Keeping his hand on the plate, Soren ordered,

"Release the lever."

"L-lord, our army is still there," the soldier stammered, his expression worried. "At least order them to retreat."

"Impudence!!!" Soren shouted in fury. "You dare tell me what to do? Those soldiers will be remembered as brave warriors who gave their lives for House Ironvale. Now release the lever."

"Y-yes, my lord," the soldier murmured, and after a brief hesitation pulled the lever.

---

I sheathed my sword, my eyes fixed on the cannon on the high tower of the fortress that had started glowing again for another attack.

The lightning dancing in my hand began taking the shape of a thunderbolt. The air around my arm shifted and deafening thunder echoed through the battlefield, suppressing every other sound.

On the other side, the cannon had also begun radiating the same explosive energy as before.

"You will not be releasing that attack again," I murmured, throwing the thunderbolt straight toward the glowing cannon.

"Divine Lightning: Thunderbolt of Judgement!"
