Chapter 361: I proposed her on one knee

If Robert had not covered for Lucifer, informing the disciples that he had gone into closed-door cultivation, the entire Thunderbane Sect would have descended into chaos at the sudden disappearance of their Core Disciple. Ume also managed to leave the Flowerbane Sect with the same excuse, stating that she must not be disturbed during her closed-door cultivation, while in truth she was at Heaven’s Last Step, operating Aestra.

"First, you suddenly vanished for an entire week, and after returning with your eyesight lost, you offended none other than the Snow Princess," Lyra nagged Lucifer with a frown, her hands resting on her waist. "How do you plan to resolve this mess you have created?"

Despite Lyra’s scolding, Lucifer wore a faint smile, completely absorbed in his own thoughts. Seeing him blatantly ignore her only deepened Lyra’s frown.

Her usual playful smile disappeared, and instead of her normally gentle tone, Lyra spoke sharply. "Junior Brother Lucifer, do you not understand the trouble you have caused?"

"Oh, y-yes... I heard you, Sister Lyra," Lucifer replied vaguely.

"We should seek Master Robert’s help. The Snow Princess might withdraw her order if Master Robert requests her to do so," Lyra murmured to herself, realizing that speaking to Lucifer was a lost cause.

"There is no need, Sister Lyra," Lucifer said, having completely regained his composure. "I will certainly participate in the Battle of Heirs."

"Why do I have such a troublesome junior brother?" Lyra sighed, facepalming.

Before she could continue scolding him, Lucifer suddenly pointed toward a stall. "Sister Lyra, I am catching a delightful scent from that direction. We should ’see’ what they are offering."

After releasing a brief sigh of exhaustion, Lyra grabbed Lucifer by the arm and guided him toward the stall, which was offering stick ice creams in various flavors. However, it was not merely the scent of ice cream that had drawn Lucifer there. There was another fragrance, far sweeter than the frozen treats and far more pleasing to the senses.

Standing in front of the stall was Ume, studying the menu of different ice cream flavors with a faint drool at the corner of her lips. Beside her, several beautiful women clad in robes of a darker shade of pink compared to Ume’s light pink attire were gathered around her.

While Ume remained entirely focused on choosing her ice cream, countless male disciples from other sects had their gazes fixed upon her enchanting beauty. Even though she had completely concealed her fox ears, sealed the divine Soulforce that caused her body to radiate an otherworldly luminosity, and cast illusion spells upon her face to make it appear less conspicuous, her beauty was still too ethereal to be hidden. Within merely a month of joining the Flowerbane Sect, she had already become famous across all seven sects, rumored to be the most beautiful woman, second only to the Snow Goddess Nymeria and the Sect Master of the Flowerbane Sect, Silvaris El Flowerbane.

There were also several men, confident in their handsome appearances, who attempted to initiate a conversation with Ume. However, before they could even step close to her, they were intercepted by the Flowerbane Sect disciples surrounding her, who did not allow a single one of them to disturb her.

"I never expected our elegant sister to make such a face over ice cream," one of the female disciples beside Ume chuckled.

"Kyaa! She looks so adorable with that expression!" another exclaimed.

"Sister Kitsune, please choose your ice cream quickly, or we will be overwhelmed by these shameless men trying to court you," a third added, exhausted, as the number of men she had already prevented from approaching Ume had reached double digits within just ten minutes of their arrival.

"My lady, try the strawberry flavor. You will surely like it," Lucifer said as he reached the stall, Lyra still guiding him by the arm.

"Sigh... another man trying to impress her," one of the Flowerbane disciples muttered. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮

"It is even worse that he is already accompanied by a lady," another added.

"Wait a moment... Lady Lyra from the Thunderbane Sect?" one of them mumbled, recognizing her.

It did not take more than a second for the rest to recognize Lyra as well. While they observed Lucifer and Lyra with intrigued expressions, especially since she was holding his arm, Ume fixed the duo with a piercing glare.

"What do you think you are doing?" Ume muttered, her eyes narrowing.

The Flowerbane disciples gasped at the sudden shift in Ume’s demeanor.

"S-Sister Kitsune, he might only be offering a suggestion. There is no need to be angry," one of them said hurriedly, assuming the obvious reason behind her reaction. "He is already with a lady, so I doubt he has any other intention."

"Umm... Sister Lyra, you should let go of my arm, or I might lose it," Lucifer said, a trace of nervousness slipping into his otherwise calm voice.

Turning to Ume, who would have already killed Lucifer if her glare could strike, Lucifer continued, "Sh-She is my sister, my lady."

"I do not understand," Lyra said, still holding his arm. "Why are you clarifying our relationship to this disciple of the Flowerbane Sect?"

"Read the room, will you?" Lucifer muttered to Lyra, gently removing her hand before stepping closer to Ume. "She was merely guiding the poor blind me around the festival."

"What is her name?" Ume asked sharply, folding her arms.

"Lyra El Thunderbane," Lucifer replied.

"Truly your sister?"

"Un." Lucifer nodded firmly.

"Very well then," Ume murmured, her voice softening once more.

"What is happening here?" Lyra and the Flowerbane disciples demanded in unison, their voices filled with equal parts curiosity and shock.

Ume stepped closer to Lucifer and held his arm in the exact same manner Lyra had, at the very same spot. Then, glaring at Lyra, she declared, "This blind dummy is my man."

Raising her hand to display the ring on her finger, she continued proudly, "He proposed to me on one knee."

"You did not really have to mention that last part," Lucifer sighed, though he did not mind it in the slightest.

"Why?" Ume demanded with a frown. "I did not lie."

"Alright, alright. She is my betrothed, and yes, I proposed to her on one knee," Lucifer announced with a smile, finding her small display of jealousy irresistibly adorable. "It is quite an effective introduction. I suppose I shall continue using it from now on."

While Lucifer teased Ume lightly, the Flowerbane disciples and Lyra stood completely stunned. Their eyes widened as they attempted to process the bombshell the couple had just dropped so casually.

After a brief pause, both sides shouted in unison, "You are engaged?"
