Chapter 38: Chapter 38: A Chinese Ghost Story

Qin Yuhan drove out with Wu Tian in the car.

"You should learn how to drive," she said during the ride.

"I already know how," he replied indifferently.

"You have a driver’s license? How come my background check on you didn’t show one?" Qin Yuhan asked curiously. She had thoroughly investigated Wu Tian and knew everything about him, aside from a four-year blank period in his records. She was certain he had never taken a driving test.

"No, I don’t have a license," Wu Tian said, shaking his head.

"Then why did you say you can drive?"

"I’ve seen it on TV," Wu Tian said after a moment’s thought. "My skills are probably on par with Schumacher’s. After all, I’ve seen videos of him racing."

Qin Yuhan was at a loss for words. Does he really think he can learn Schumacher’s skills just by watching him? Is he some kind of racing god? In his dreams!

After driving for quite some time, Wu Tian grew bored and asked casually, "Where exactly are you taking me?"

"Miss Xia, from the multinational corporation, has returned to the country to expand her business and has opened a branch office here. I have to meet her for a project," Qin Yuhan explained. "If it’s successful, it will take the Qin Corporation to new heights and truly connect us to the international market. Remember, this meeting is very important. You are not to speak—just watch quietly from the side and learn."

Hearing this, Wu Tian gave her a deep, thoughtful look. This meeting is that important, yet she brought me along just so I could learn something? My wife... she’s cold on the outside but warm on the inside!

He chuckled and said, "Are you sure you don’t need my help? Who knows, maybe I could be useful."

"And how could you possibly help?" Qin Yuhan asked, puzzled.

"I can help in many ways. For instance," Wu Tian began with a confident look, "I’m handsome, physically fit, and highly skilled. I could go and..."

Before he could finish, Qin Yuhan shot a fiery glare in his direction. Seeing this, Wu Tian just smiled. This is fun. My wife looks so amusing when she’s angry.

Finally, the car pulled up in front of a high-end coffee shop: Jing Ke Coffee House. The place had an austere architectural style, imparting a solemn atmosphere reminiscent of the famous line, "The wind soughs, the Yi River is cold," making anyone who entered feel an inherent sense of calm. There were few people inside; generally, far fewer people went out for coffee than for drinks.

As soon as Qin Yuhan and Wu Tian entered, a waitress approached them. "Sir, Miss, how may I help you?"

"My surname is Qin. I have an appointment. Please show me to private room number 8," Qin Yuhan said.

"Certainly. Please, follow me." The waitress nodded and led them to private room number 8.

The moment they stepped inside, Wu Tian saw Nangong Yi, whose gentlemanly smile for Qin Yuhan nearly collapsed upon seeing him.

"President, what is he doing here?" Though Nangong Yi was still smiling, his tone was clearly unhappy.

"I brought him here to learn," Qin Yuhan stated indifferently. She felt a pang of displeasure. Only I’m allowed to be harsh with Wu Tian. It bothers me when anyone else treats him poorly.

Nangong Yi fell silent. What could Wu Tian possibly learn? In my opinion, the only thing he’s good for is fighting. He must be completely incompetent in every other area.

Just then, the sound of high heels echoed through the room—TAP, TAP, TAP.

A moment later, a fashionable and stunning figure entered their line of sight. She was breathtakingly beautiful, no less so than Qin Yuhan, with captivating phoenix eyes that could steal countless souls with a single glance. She was used to being the center of attention, with people looking at her as if she were the bright moon in the night sky.

But this time was different. The moment she arrived, she immediately fixed her eyes on Wu Tian, scrutinizing him with keen interest.

Wu Tian furrowed his brow slightly. Do I know this woman? No. Definitely not.

Yet, she continued to stare at him. Her subordinates, trailing behind her, noticed their boss’s unusual behavior. Her secretary hurried forward and whispered, "Ms. Xia, is something wrong?"

Xia Qian simply shook her head and walked in with her staff, taking a seat.

Of course, Qin Yuhan and Nangong Yi also noticed Xia Qian’s odd behavior but never imagined it was because of Wu Tian. In their minds, someone of Xia Qian’s stature would never have any connection to a man like him. She had studied abroad in the United States—also known as Cupid Country—and was a business elite. Not only was her family background mysterious, but her personal achievements were also substantial. It seemed impossible for her to have anything to do with Wu Tian.

Still, Qin Yuhan asked with concern, "Ms. Xia, is everything alright?"

"It’s nothing," Xia Qian replied, her gaze covertly flicking back to Wu Tian for a second.

In fact, Xia Qian was Xiao Liang’s granddaughter. For the past few days, Xiao Liang had been endlessly praising Wu Tian to the family, describing him as a peerless national talent, a rare gem in the city. The last time Wu Tian called, Xia Qian had been right beside her grandfather. To her astonishment, he had immediately driven out personally to pick Wu Tian up. This greatly piqued her curiosity.

This man... what kind of charm does he possess to make my grandfather act like that?

It had prompted her to investigate him. In reality, Xia Qian had arrived at the coffee shop even before Qin Yuhan and Wu Tian. She was handling some business on the second floor when she unexpectedly saw Wu Tian arrive with Qin Yuhan. This prompted her to drop what she was doing and come down to the private room ahead of schedule.

"I’m fine," Xia Qian said, collecting herself with a shake of her head. "Now, let’s discuss our partnership."

"Mhm," Qin Yuhan nodded and glanced at Nangong Yi.

A smile touched Nangong Yi’s lips as he held up the prepared plan and began to read. "I believe our collaboration could proceed as follows..."

As Nangong Yi spoke, Qin Yuhan and Xia Qian’s staff listened intently. Xia Qian, however, only skimmed the details, satisfied as long as it posed no major disadvantage to her company. After he finished, she glanced at Wu Tian before speaking. "Your proposal is good. We are going to build a world-class entertainment venue, and your plan is very impressive."

At these words, Nangong Yi was overjoyed.

Qin Yuhan, also elated, responded, "Ms. Xia, does that mean..."

"I agree to partner with your corporation," Xia Qian announced.

"Then, the profit sharing..."

"A sixty-forty split. You take sixty," Xia Qian stated.

Her staff members frowned, their eyes shifting to Nangong Yi. What’s gotten into the president today? Don’t tell me she’s taken a liking to this handsome fellow?

Even Nangong Yi himself began to think so, and his heart swelled with delight. Even without Qin Yuhan, I’ve got Xia Qian! This is a huge win. I, Nangong Yi, have hit the jackpot!
